Hey!

i am about to start an Astra Militarum army and want to play the Astropath as well as Knight Commander Pask. Problem is i dont like the two models games workshop provides (both are metal and dont look too nice in my opinion). So i want to make a plastic conversion. Anybody has an idea how i could go about kitbashing an Astropath and the Knight Commander Pask?

greetings

Whilst I used a metal.model, I went for a slightly different aesthetic for.mine. highborn lady type astropath based on an old Vampire model.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Might I ask what style guard your army is?
With Pask get a tank commander swap up some parts from the IG infantry command squad. Could carefully add some scars with a knife, make him a bit grizzled.

Also, you could modify his tank, because he is an Ace with a veteran, hand picked crew it may have modifications such as extra armour, or just provisions for a long campaign.

Also, if Pask is to be your HQ choice it could be as simple as attaching a banner to his tank.

The Astropath, I'm not so helpful, perhaps take a look at fantasty mages for parts, if you get some green stuff a hood should be easy enough if you take your time. Again command sprue my help with that officer's trenchcoat.

For Pask, yeah kitbash a tank kit with the Command Squad box.

You might wish to look at Anvil's Robed Cultists re Primaris Psykers.

Victoria Minitures also has just released a female(no pin-up either) psyker, which could be of use as a astropath.

To go a different route, you could represent Pask by adding rondels, shields, or banners to his tank to represent battle honors or a noble's coat of arms. Easy to nick some space marine or fantasy bits to paint some heraldry on. Would have a more medieval flair like the Imperial Knights.

For pask, you could do more or less anything to represent a Knight commander. My first thought would be like a scion torso (for the baroque 'knight' feel), and then maybe lop the head off a commissar?

I converted a psyker from the fantasy flagellants box - a great little resource for all things grimdark https://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/936153-.html
I reckon the Genestealer cults magos kits, or the warhammer fantasy sorceror kits are potentially pretty good shouts, too, if you want a less raggedy appearance? Slap a few greenstuf cables on, couple of purity seals and a laspistol and honestly you're probably almost already good to go!

You don't like the actual Astropath mini?

EDIT: I guess it's a Navigator technically but it might as well be an Astropath from what I can tell.

I made a Psyker out of Eldar Farseek kit.
Just replace the head and remove the ornaments on the chest and you are good. Also, make the spear into a staff.

Some green stuff was needed, though.

The AoS 'Collegiate Arcane Mystic Battle Wizards' kit gives you four robes-and-staff dudes with a whole bunch of optional bits for €32.50. Pretty useful for astropaths and similar psykers.

A little bit of righteous anger now and then is good, actually. Don't trust a person who never gets angry.

My regiment is more modern, didn't fit the whole mage in space theme. (because I'm not really into that.)
My battle psykers have combat armour, fatigues and firearms like all my soldiers. Becasue whatever you are in the 132nd Combined Rifles, you're first and foremost a rifleman.

To differnciate they have psykic shrouds(underneath their helmets of course) with pipes going from the base of their spine to a back-pack.

So yeah I make mine out of basic infantrymen/women, and a few other bits.

Primaris Psyker will probably be in the middle of a large casting, so you can really differentiate with magical special effects if you wish to(glowing eyes, big blasty magicy stuff. Go wild)

Found this picture from ashotninja, this guy is not a magey looking psyker, but you can really tell he is one.
