Shining spears
-will be reduced to 35pts per model.
-one member of the squad can upgrade his catapults to a cannon
-Withdraw USR will be available for the Exarch to purchase
-The whole squad is armed with "Starlances" that are S6 Powerweapons on the turn they assault. Afterwards they revert to S3 regular attacks. The Exarch can upgrade his to S8.

The Avatar of Khaine
-NOT a "special character!"
-155pts
-current stats as is, except +1I and +1A and BS5
-all Eldar withing 12" are fearless
- 3+ save AND 4+(I)
-It's spear/sword has the same stats as a melta-gun including the melta rule and the AP1
-Immune to heat based weapons again (I hope the codex specifies what "heat based weapons" are to avoid confusion amongst players)

Wraithguard
-Only one wound, NOT 2
-Troops choice if NOT mounted in a wave serpent
-T6 now
-Wraithcannon auto wounds on a 2+ now and insta-kills on a 6 after roll to hit.
-Wraithcannon glances on a 2-4 and penatrates on a 5-6 after roll to hit.
If they CAN be taken as ELITES without one (a transport) remains to be seen.

Warpspiders
Staying "as is" with points and everything, except suprise assault has changed to reflect thier shooty nature instead of assault.
-When shooting at an opponent after making a teleport move (not specific as to the difference, sorry) They gain one extra shot each. So this means they can jump 12" and fire three S6 AP- shots at a unit 12" away each!
Wraithguard taken with a transport remain an ELITES choice on the organization chart.

The Waveserpent now comes with NO weapons standard and must be purchased as normal. Similar to the Imperial guard where you buy a Chimera APC on it's own without weapons. and buy the multi-laser, or heavy flamer for the turret and then pick either the Heavy flamer or Heavy bolter for the hull.

The Farseer WILL have a toughness of three. He will however have a built in 3+ save against the Perils of the warp attack! So you may be able to fend off that instant death after all. He COMES with spirit stones AND Runes of Witnessing now. Much like the Librarian COMES with a psychic hood and force weapon.

ANY enemy psyker on the table attempting a psychic power must roll 3 dice and pick two. If he rolls double 6s, the enemy psyker suffers perils of the warp. So... if facing a Farseer's army, an enemy psyker suffers from POW on double 1s and double 6s while withing 18" of the Farseer! Runes of witnessing allows you to pick ANY of the three dice when casting...you roll two 1s and a 4, no PoW. When the enemy psyker casts, YOU pick which two he uses. He rolls two 1s and a 4, he suffers PoW. He rolls two 6s and a 1, he still takes PoW.

All Farseer powers and Warlock powers have NOT changed apparently, except,
New power, Doom
pick an enemy within 18". All attacks (not specific about whether it's just shooting or if assault is included) against said unit may reroll "to wound."
0-1 Farseer as an HQ choice. He/she may be joined by 3-9 warlocks in a single squad.

You no longer have to pull warlocks from the Farseer's retinue to lead your guardians, guardian jetbikes, and wraithgaurd. They are simple upgrades to the squad now.

Guardian Jetbikes are Troops choices! Points are less (don't remember by how much), but they are dropping to T4 4+ save..... hide from heavy bolters!

Striking Scorpions are dropping to a strength of 3, BUT (relax guys, keep reading) the Chain sword they are carrying gives them S4 in close combat. This was only a change meant to show that the Eldar Statline is a S3 and that no amount of training will give the Eldar Physic the strength of a geneticaly enhanced space marine. So thier profile for strength will look like this: 3(4).

Warwalkers are Fast Attack

Warpspiders are Fast Attack

The Executioner (+2S powerweapon, two-handed) is a wargear list item....hello warlocks with S5 powerweapons in the Farseer's command squad!

What a heavy weapon costs to put on a grav-platform, I don't know. I only know that the standard price for weapons looks something like this: (from memory so might not be 100% accurate)

Shuriken Cannon - 5pts
Scatter Laser - 15pts
Eldar Missle Launcher - 20pts
Starcannon - 25pts
Bright Lance - 30pts
Shuriken Cannons are indeed assault weapons now. It was made that way specificaly for the Death Jester to be able to move and fire the weapon with his Harlequin Troop.

Vypers and Warwalkers are no longer open-topped!

Vypers can deep-strike!

Holo-fields have stayed the same. They are not becoming the 4+ vehicle save from Forge World we had hoped. It will still be rolling 2d6 and picking the lowest result on the damage table after penetrating or glancing your vehicle.

Rumor has it (less likely than the others I've posted) that the Waveserpent is losing it's "Wave Field" and being replaced with a standard "Holo-field." This is being done to keep all Eldar fields the same. I don't truly belive it though since they are using the excuse of the powerfield in front of the Warwarlker as the reason it is no longer open-topped. We shall see....
Augment is going to be a power available to warlocks in the codex. Not just for Ulthwe' anymore.

No change to the Striking Scorpion's Mandi-blaster, yay!

Here is what will make Howling Banshees a good choice over Harlequins....
The Exarch will keep Acrobatic as a power (you'll have to buy it with points of course). It will affect the whole squad, let me lay it out for you....

....you assault a unit using the current assault rules, about half your banshees are base-to-base, the other half within 2". You still get all of your attacks but because of the 2" kill zone some of your powerweapon wounds go wasted...

OR

....you assault a unit using the current assault rules, about half your banshees are base-to-base, the other half within 2". You use acrobatic to move all banshees that are base-to-base into contact with another model deeper into the enemy unit while maintaing coherency with all the banshees. This extends your 2" kill zone to the entire unit. No wasted powerweapon wounds unless you wipe out the squad before they're all used.... WOO HOO!

That's all I know folks!

Dear Whiny Space Marine Players,
you get 3+ armor saves on all your troops (save scouts), Assault cannons, a huge assortment of vehicles and weapons, arguably one of the best if not THE best tank in the game, funny helmets, and a partrige in a pear tree.

suck it up, space marines. You're the emperor's chosen superhuman warriors. stop whining like a guardsmen and take it like a superman!

It all looks very promising.

The only thing that has me scratching my head is 4+ save bikes.

But that's fine, because I traded all mine away a long time ago.

S-Spears will remain 3+, I also heard a rumor that Bikes will be troop choices. 4+ save is not that bad, especially considering they can JSJ with multiple Shuriken Cannons.

*gulp* Eldar just got scarier for my Tau. Running towards my lines sparying accurate and powerful death towards me, then slicing my units apart. At least the Ork codex comes after so hopefully it'll fix any power issues Sometimes codex creep isn't so bad. No wait- I take that back.

Wraithguard still wont' work if their range is stuck at 12". I don't care if they kill everything they touch.

However, if the WS gets a holofield, it will actually be survivable.

Then again, most of that stuff seems over the top. The Wraithguard rules make them kill everything too easily without the range necessary to make the viable, and leaving the holofield as is will mean that people will continue to complain about Falcons, and tri-Falcon armies will continue to be ubiquitous.

I don't buy it, or at least part of it. I don't buy the Wraithguard rumors, and I don't buy the holofield rumors.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

I'm predicting plenty of Shining Spear character assassination runs.

I'm also predicting the following shooting phase (against anybody who doesn't bring a Ld10 Psychic Hood):

Warlock casts Augment on Farseer
Farseer casts Doom on <insert your best unit here>
Farseer casts Guide on Warwalkers
Remove <insert your best unit here> from the table
lather, rinse, repeat.

I'm not sure I'm happy about the idea that mounted Wraithguard are considered elites (while walking ones are troops) as it makes most (effective) Iyanden builds illegal (and we haven't even seen yet what they are doing to Wraithlords).

And what's the story with the Scorpion's Claw? Is that now only Str 6?

Hmm, an all-Wraithguard army sounds awfully temting, despite the appalling 12" weapon range...

Meltaguns from drop pods work. I can't imagine WG would be worse, with the changes.

The thing I am more concerned about is the no change to holofield + Wave Serpent getting holofield.

3 Falcons + 6 Wave Serpents (with various cargo) all with holofields.

How much shooting would it take to bring that fleet down.

Tell me how tempting it will be after the wraithgaurd go up to $15 USD for a single model.

We arent even given a resculpt for that much jink.

Just some thoughts:

Sadly, Shield of Faith has pissed of his source, because too much info slipped through.
So his source is closed from now on. I think it's worth remembering that.

On the other side, you can pretty much count on these roumors.

All i have to say is that the codex seems pretty powerful, and i hope they dind-'t go overboard with the "all-craftworlds-in-one-list" attempt.

I love how GW still insists the meta-game (MEQ dominated) it has created made 4+ saves viable.

I wonder if jet Bikes can upgrade to have a Warlock with Conceal? If so I wonder if there is a model coming?

"-The whole squad is armed with "Starlances" that are S6 Powerweapons on the turn they assault. Afterwards they revert to S3 regular attacks. The Exarch can upgrade his to S8."

S3? That's a bit harsh. When we re-did Shining Spears we made them S5 all the time, but power weapons on the charge.

"The Farseer WILL have a toughness of three. He will however have a built in 3+ save against the Perils of the warp attack! So you may be able to fend off that instant death after all. He COMES with spirit stones AND Runes of Witnessing now. Much like the Librarian COMES with a psychic hood and force weapon"

So rather than just leaving him T4 they decided to write a whole bunch of extra rules for him. Great.

"ANY enemy psyker on the table attempting a psychic power must roll 3 dice and pick two."

That's OTT. For Tyranids that makes sense, as they disrupt the warp so much. But Eldar? Doesn't seem right.

"All Farseer powers and Warlock powers have NOT changed apparently, except"

So we're gone from 'Eldar Psychis are going to be super-scary!' to 'They haven't changed at all'. Ok.

"You no longer have to pull warlocks from the Farseer's retinue to lead your guardians, guardian jetbikes, and wraithgaurd. They are simple upgrades to the squad now."

That's good I 'spose. Less complicated at least.

"Guardian Jetbikes are Troops choices! Points are less (don't remember by how much), but they are dropping to T4 4+ save..... hide from heavy bolters!"

So they're large models that are hard to hide behind cover and they made them easier to kill. I guess they still have the 12" range SuriCats as well?

Shuriken Cannon - 5pts
Scatter Laser - 15pts
Eldar Missle Launcher - 20pts
Starcannon - 25pts
Bright Lance - 30pts

Now I know Eldar heavy weapons were overpriced, but they do realise that the cost did include 16 points worth of Guardians?

"Vypers and Warwalkers are no longer open-topped!"

Warwalkers fine, but why Vypers?

"Vypers can deep-strike!"

Be...cause?

"Striking Scorpions are dropping to a strength of 3, BUT (relax guys, keep reading) the Chain sword they are carrying gives them S4 in close combat. This was only a change meant to show that the Eldar Statline is a S3 and that no amount of training will give the Eldar Physic the strength of a geneticaly enhanced space marine. So thier profile for strength will look like this: 3(4)."

Yay! Rules for rules sake!

"Holo-fields have stayed the same. They are not becoming the 4+ vehicle save from Forge World we had hoped. It will still be rolling 2d6 and picking the lowest result on the damage table after penetrating or glancing your vehicle."

So Falcons will still reign supreme.

Hmmm, it seems they made some progress on toning down the old "They're ELFS they're SPECIAL" mentality that made each Eldar list excruciatingly bad.

There's still some craziness like with psykers but maybe, just maybe this one will be OK.

Ah who'm I trying to kid, in a few months the 24 shining spear army will be invincible.

I think a lot of the weird stuff can be blamed on Marines. Concerning deep-striking close-topped Vypers, it seems like they don't really have any choice after making Land Speeders close-topped and deep-strikeable. The Farseer thing is hardly over the top, taken in context - it's far, far less effective than the even more nonsensical Psychic Hood. Like you, I'm confused as to why they didn't give the Farseer anything to put him on a level with the Librarian, but I guess plenty of Farseer models are already out there, unlike Shining Spears.

I'm fairly confident about the Jetbikes - they're one of the only things that we don't have complete rumors for.  Look at all the other things that don't sell (Fire Prisms, Shining Spears, Dire Avengers, etc); I think it's a good bet that since the Jetbikes aren't anti-MEQ like Vespids, they'll be quite competitive.

Well, it's certainly an interesting lot of rumours. Not sure as yet whether it'll get me to dust off the old Eldar army and give them a spin. The arrangements for the farseer look overly complicated, but short of actually admitting that the psychic hood is broken and fixing it, there's not much they can do short of escalation. Annoying how often that's the case...

In other news, looks like we're seeing a return to the days of old, in which the Eldar were defined very much by the sheer variety of nasty stuff they could field, as opposed to a few optimal combos. Which can only be a good thing.

Odds are the balance still isn't perfect, but I'll be content to wait and see on that front.

I am heartened by the Warpspider changes.  I really hate the current incarnation of exarchs with thier squads.  The exarch instead of having an ablity that compliments the squad has an ablity that runs counter to the squad.

Example being the Warpspider exarch of assault in a unit that is all about shooting.  Same could be said for the Swooping Hawks exarch.  They should have skills that compliment not run counter and thus cause a tactical paradox.
