Hi all,

Just curious with the announcement of confirmed:

-square bases
-can use old armies in new fantasy (wonder if means yes you can use old armies but bigger bases, they didn't specifically say same base size? just can use armies and is square bases. I think though it will all be the same size. Fingers crossed)

Who else is reinvigorating their armies?

I personally have vampire counts and dwarfs all still goblin green bases etc (most all metal) now in my bits bins, but screw that I am doing the army I always wanted (Dark elves, cause I love the models).

Full army, all square bases...

Who else is getting ready for fantasy & what armies are you redoing or making!!!

I am!! I just bought two full fantasy armies: dark elves and empire. Never had a fantasy army or played WHFB before, I just love those models since ages and if TOW ends up a nice game I'd already have the armies to play it. That and prices that have become too high for 40k and I was finally convinced to get those fantasy models.

Only kidding.. !

My last WHFB army I sold. Even with a lot of time on my hands it took well over a year to get the army built, and just don't have that sort of time anymore.

Might keep an eye out on the rules and see what route they take. If they try and make something stable (like Horus Heresy is now for 40k) without a constantly changing rulebook and armies, and they bring in a tweaked Steadfast rule (which legitimises proper flank charge tactics again) and the game looks like being a 'proper' wargame, I would certainly take a look!

Yes lets sacrifice all to our capital Naggarond, and the land of chill. What empire...purge the wicked and heretical (sorry my 40k veins coming out, maybe got that confused...lol). Good thing about empire is alot available still, took me a bit to get full Dark elf army (had most special characters but).

Awesome you have joined the WFB team. I loved fantasy and am so excited it will be back soon.

Good luck with your armies.

lmao...that guy probably spewing now, I remember the video....

I hope they tone down magic, keep a flow for wheels and charges etc
A combination of all will be good (as they said will do)

There's nothing stopping you from playing fantasy right now. If you're waiting for TOW, your desire is not to play fantasy but to play a Games Workshop Hobby (TM) game.

I've been playing Fantasy since Age of Sigmar was released, although less frequently.

I *am* acquiring more WHFB armies lately though. Found a store with an old High Elves battalion for a nice score. Wish I could find any classic dragons!

Also we do have a subforum specifically for Fantasy

I'm on a podcast about (video) game design:

Tbh I hadent played since like the late 90s early 2000s, same with 40k (but got back into it when AOS came out maybe 7th for 40k. But Aos is meh really miss fantasy pref the rank and flank). But now Fantasy is being rereleased hopefully mates will be more into it (those that Aos it. there is something stopping, people with desire to play it).

If you're already on, or willing to make a fake account to access Facebook, I'd happily recommend checking out Warhammer Renaissance to get your WHFB fix.

It's a fan created set of rules that blends several sets of rules together, with taking most of its inspiration from 4th Edition. The author's great on taking feedback and providing updates, and most armies are supported (I think Ogre Kingdoms are the only one who haven't gotten an army book).

Something to check out before the Old World rules come out, or even as an alternative!

I have my dwarves and orcs and goblins all ready to go. Will have compatible Chaos Warriors soon too. Only thing it's making me consider is whether I want 20mm squares or 25mm circles for some units I am building like skinks and so on.

My empire army is still the same, only added too it since then with new minis.
Mostly for mordheim, but I like square bases for anything I put in a completion.

Khemri and wood elves need a lot of repair work. And I would be happy with some updated minis for my wood elves anyway.

Never got to play as much fantasy as I would have liked.

It was only after WHFB was axed that I finally sat down and finished my full 2000pt Ogre army. It was such a labour of love I could never get rid of it so I still have it sitting in a display case.

Been working on my Orc and Goblin army the last year and have a rough 1000pts. I also have my Empire army I started back in 6th that I've been slowly fixing up and re-painting. Basically I never got rid of any of my armies so I'm ready to go.

Would this not have made more sense being in the warhammer fantasy forum?

I started stripping and repainting my first army, the glorious high elves, at the end of 2018. Started really strong but I've not done anything with that for over a year. Hoping to get back into it and paint some more. I also have some dwarves and empire that are enough to make some 500 point border patrols with.

I have been collecting armies that I always wanted over the past few years, namely mostly metal dwarfs and High elves. The elves are partially painted, so I should have a nice sized High Elf army by the time this rolls out.

It is funny, I recently built up an Empire army starting from my Mordheim stuff. I have had for years High Elves (main army of all my armies for all games lol) and Dwarfs. Never stopped playing 6th and 8th near me, though recently I haven't been able to play nearly as much as I would like. Absolutely looking forward to fantasy coming back.

Sounds like:

1. I should have posted in a different forum (though tbh this is not classic)

2. A few people are redoing armies but some play this kings of war?

Im not really interested in something not fantasy but I have seen KoW and if like it, more games to ya.

(Empire awesome, but ogres comon...lol j/k)

I just went through my VC and Dwarf armies (90%metal) and both I can do to 2k+ each, but fuk that, I bought everything needed for a full Dark elf army now )))))

Just made 2 hydras and converted 15x shades from 4x Warcry Khainite Shadowstalker boxes (needed 4 boxes for hand crossbows, they are so big but for 20mm had to pick the smaller models, wish had of used sisters of watch or shadow warriors +other bits from seaguard) but done now and look great!

Next step to put together, 40 of every core unit (+ extra command for options)

I'll be starting a few armies soon... in 10mm. My local group has fallen down the "minihammer" rabbit hole using old warmaster armies and 3d printed minis and I'm excited to join in.

All of these are ready to go:
*Dwarves,
*Empire (well, Dogs of War actually),
*High Elves,
*Wood Elves,
**Orcs/Goblins (95% goblins),
*Dark Elves
**Chaos mortals (in many forms),
**Chaos Dwarves,
**Beastmen
*Khorne Demons,
*Tomb Kings,
**Undead who aren't TK....
(* in storage atm - simple trip the basement shelves though to dust off cases as needed..)
(** in use for AoS - we've never had any hang-ups concerning square/round bases. Models get played as-they-are.)

Things that will need work to get back up to "usable army status":
Skaven - I have about 1/2 a working army left.
Lizardmen - A bunch of random stuff that's accumulated over the years

And then there's whatever Sigmar stuff (or old stuff that now comes with round bases) could apply simply by cutting square bases/movement trays to accommodate them.

I absolutely love playing warmaster, never used 10mm for normal fantasy though. That would be an interesting game.

Same. They've been using a mix of different rules to play (6th, 7th, 8th, 9th Age, Warhammer Armies Project, etc.), though I think by consensus they're starting to settle on 7th as the main ruleset to use. Im excited to have a whack at it, everyone seems to be really enjoying it.
