As of yesterday afternoon (UK time) I’ve found Dakka super slow to load on my device (iPad pro).

I don’t think it’s my device or connection, as other websites seem to be loading fine. I am getting where I want to go, but it’s taking a few seconds to load each page.

Seems better now.

It been getting issues all week, but last few days it’s got much worse. Seeming at random.

No issues in other websites, then it’s fine like 10 mins later.

Load issues the past few days. Sometimes pages time out, and then work when you reload them.

Went away for a bit, but now it’s back. Again not every click, but enough to be irritating.

Very random, will be fine and then not.

Oh good I thought it was just my crap wifi at work. Yes I've been having the same issue. Good 15-20 seconds before a page loads rather than the usual instantaneous.

I think Lego is on vacation, this sort of thing usually only happens the odd time a year when he is AFK.

And yes, the site is still struggling randomly at times, sorry for that, until we can find a way to give the machine spirit of the servers a taste of daddy's digital belt, keep swinging that incense and keep up those prayers.

Hey guys, we are aware of the issues, but it isn't something that a simple server restart has fixed.

It is likely a bot scraping the site or something along those lines that has to be investigated and taken care of.

Sorry for the inconvenience while we get this figured out.

That is a real shame, totally sucks if it’s something like that causing so much issue >.<

Hopefully doesn’t end up being a huge amount of work in the end.

I had a feeling it might be something like this. There's definitely been some chatbot-esque posts made the past few weeks.

Well I've banned half the IPs in China, and looks like that has made a difference. A new breed of bots and scrapers were hitting us and I had a power cut at the same time so couldn't do much beyond basic checks and resets, but back up now and able to proactively hold the fort!

It's still failing. It failed to load when I tried to reply to this thread, and then I couldn't get back on for almost 5m.

It will be a gradual improvement as I block each IP range that bombards us - there are huge blocks of IPs hitting simultaneously, but as they get locked out, things will continue to pick up.
