They had me at Matt Berry, everything else is icing on the cake. I'd settle for Matt doing all the voices after having seen the excellent Toast of London.
Hoping it ends up more Dredd than Judge Dredd. Cautiously happy

I’m hoping it’s oddly neutral in terms of fandom nature will make for a good movie.
What do I mean by oddly neutral? Rogue’s initial story is super quick to tell. Without picking through my 2000ad Ultimate Collection to confirm, I’m fairly sure the origin was set out in like, 8 to 16 pages.
And in its own peculiar way? It’s an Everyman type story. Sole survivor, just trying to complete his mission.
So one doesn’t need to be ankle, knee, hip, elbow, shoulders or top of your bonce deep in 2000ad lore to appreciate it. It doesn’t require a whole lot of exposition, particularly as whilst the background was expanded upon, Rogue himself remained largely unchanged during its run,
It’s very accessible. That’s probably explaining it in the fewest words.

First look at the movie with some stills, showing off a stylised CGI style, also showing us that Jemaine Clement and Matt Berry will be playing Mr Brass and Mr Bland.
While 2000AD wasn't always my cup of tea, Rogue Trooper is bloody brilliant and we had the odd issue.
We had one where he had to join a new model army and the leader - "Oliver"? - who said "if this freak can understand my vision then he's welcome", but after killing someone else ( "perhaps he swallowed it!" )...they realise its really him and it ended on a cliff hanger of Rogue firing away at the hordes of other conscripts. It was a cool issue and would have liked to have had a collected copy to at least find out what happened next. But we're talking decades ago...
The ZX Spectrum game was bloody good too, with solid gameplay and graphics.
That would be very kind of you. Just to know the name of the story would be great.
I remember it being from roughly...the late 80s? Probably 1988, maybe as late as 1990? What I do remember is a blue-skinned female character - very stylish - talking to Rogue about the "new model army" and I think it was pretty much "he needs to be stopped" and all that kind of stuff. The artwork was really good.
My brother was the fine artist of the family and he would sketch the bit where Rogue takes his helmet off and kneels and looks down - to get their trust and all that. Its a shame he gave it up because he could have gone far as a professional.

That’s almost certainly Venus Blue Genes.
I’ll have a look through tomorrow
Automatically Appended Next Post: Actually, it might be the volume I’m reading now, where it’s Fr1day rather than Rogue. And they’ve just started kicking off against a Religious Crusade.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Nope, not that volume!
