I know the galaxy is a vast place, but given the nature of their jobs, I don't think it's far-fetched that former classmates from the Schola Progenium sometimes have an unexpected class reunion during a military campaign or investigation. Or, less coincidentally, that they make an effort to keep in touch just in case they need a contact in another faction.

"Oh hey, Alec! Looking sharp in that beret. Throne, if you're the reinforcements, the war must be going even worse than they tell me."
"Ha ha! Well, thanks for holding things down long enough for us to swoop in and steal the glory, Severine. Say, that scar's new..."
"Long story. I'll tell you over an amasec if we survive the next push."
"Right... Work first, then play. You haven't changed. How are things on the ground? Your canoness was tight-lipped. You know how it is... left hand, right hand..."
"Casualties are still manageable, but we've run into logistical issues. Low on promethium, fresh out of hunter-killers. I'm looking for a workaround. I managed to get a hold of my ex... Val, remember? She finally inherited her dad's warrant of trade. Unfortunately she's in the Eastern Fringe right now, dealing with some T'au nonsense."
"Shame. Well, in my experience, shipping delays are usually just some bureaucratic snag. Hey, remember ol' Rennie? Last I heard, he was pretty high up in the Administratum. I'm sure he can fast-track it or knows someone who can. Even back in the day, he was already a master at twisting the process into pretzels to get us out of trouble."
"Oh, I wouldn't know. I wasn't the one always getting in trouble!"

As with most things he 40K it will depend. Cain does a decent job of portraying the Scola as a kind of boarding school with live fire exercises, and all the associated old boys network that goes with it. Those that get squirrelled away as inquisitorial stormtroopers probably don’t come to reunions…

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Definitely depends.

There is an Old Boys’ Network, but not the way we think of it.

Cain certainly recognised Beije from his school days, and doesn’t think much of him.

But outside of kind of vaguely knowing someone, there’s no advantage presented.

Part of that is ensuring any graduate isn’t posted anywhere they might have familial tie type things. That only risks a sentimental risk to efficiency.
