Do all Centurion/Consul models come with 32mm bases? I am trying to work out whether it's legal to put a non-Cataphractii Centurion on a 40mm base.

As far as I'm aware, yes all the centurions have 32mm bases. That being said, a 40mm base for a consul is never likely to be an advantage to you as it just allows him to be mobbed easier, so I can't imagine too many people would have an issue with it. Especially if it's an ornate base.

Crazy idea... what if we stuck our marines on square bases and ranked them up? I think that would look really neato.

Very broadly speaking, basing only becomes an issue if you use a smaller than standard.

That allows squads and characters to be bunched up tighter, which can make the difference between being out of LoS or not.

Going a size up? Not really an advantage for you as the owning player, will mild downsides.

But as ever, check with your local gaming circle. Their opinions are of greater relevance than us Interwebular spods.

Size up spreads you out more for blasts, pretty relevant. Haven't seen anything about prescribed bases yet in 3.0... nor 2.0.

I put my Armistos on a 40mm (as it's a conversion based off an AoD Praetor) and I have heard no complaints.
