Pious Vorne may be my favorite GW miniature ever and I bought one a few months ago. I just assembled the model and noticed she’s on a slotta base. I didn’t know any minis still even used them. Problem is, I want to base her so that it looks like she’s indoors so I can’t just blend over the giant discontinuity in the middle of the base with sand and flock. The way I see it, I have a couple options:
1. Clip her feet off the support that fills the slot in the base
2. Try to blend the support into some kind of industrial looking interior terrain.
I’m leaning towards option 1 but I’m terrified of damaging the model in the process. Anyone on Dakka run into this and have a suggestion?

Hey mate,
Most of my armies are made up entirely of old metal minis with slotta bases and I have removed them all without any major concerns. A few dicey bends with old DE wyches is about all that comes to mind.
Plastic may make for a few more breaks but I reckon you could get reduce the risk there by first cutting the bar in between her feet to reduce tension on either leg. Looking at her, the two main things I'd be careful about are applying pressure to the flames or the hose as you're cutting.
I usually use a stanley knife rather than clippers as I feel like I have more precision/control that way. It works for metal so would definitely work for plastic.
Typing that out, though, maybe clippers and then sandpaper or a file would be your best bet. Lol. Or sneak in a small file and remove any bits that would stick out on top of the slotta base? You can then gapfill any irregularities.
Any way you do it I'm sure will work out fine.
Good luck!

It’s because she was originally designed for Blackstone Fortress; all of those models are designed to be push fit without needing glue.
I’d recommend clippers tor trim down the tab, both width and depth, as you don’t need to put pressure on the model when using clippers. Get the tab down to a little stub and then shave it off using a knife, a bit like a large mould line.

You can easily clip the tab off without damaging the rest of the model.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Models of that vintage clip pretty easily if you're careful:
