Corvus' Necron Army

Full Army Photo

older photo of my army, the Acheron Tomb Legion

Unit Photos

This is my Necron Lord, The Underking. I wanted him to stand out from the rest of the army, but still look like he belonged, so I went with a full-body version of the black with gold trim I used on the pauldrons of my Immortals/Destroyers/etc, and added a whole "glowing green from within" look to emphasize his awesomeness

Here are two of my 24 Warriors. As you can see, I kept it simple and went with the generic metallic silver Necron look.

Here's one of my Immortals. To help them stand out from the warriors, I gave them black pauldrons with gold trim, and a decal from the Necron transfer sheet on each one (a theme I later applied to most of my other non-Warrior units). Whenever I get around to actually gaming with my army, I plan on using these bad boys to form the core of my phalanx, in addition to serving as bodyguards for Mr. Necron Lord

The Immortal squad

One of my three Destroyers. As you can see, I got pretty carried away with the gold trim on the Destroyers (which was a pain in the butt to paint), but I like the overall effect. Makes them look more ornate.

And last but not least is my lone Wraith. I'll be getting some buddies for him sooner or later, budget permitting.

Army List

As of right now, I have:

1x Necron Lord with Staff of Light and Resurrection Orb - 140pts

24x Necron Warriors - 432 pts

5x Scarab Swarms (I had six but one of them had an irreversible painting accident) - 60pts

6x Immortals - 168pts

3x Destroyers - 150pts

1x Wraith - 41pts

Why I Started This Army

When I first started checking out 40K, the Necrons definitely caught my eye. I liked their whole "zombie terminator robot army commanded by the Grim Freaking Reaper" concept, and I liked their uniformity of color and design compared to the other armies. Also, as I did more research, I discovered that Necrons do not require a crapton of troops or specialist units to be a viable force, as their weapons were potent against both infantry and armor (though from what I've heard 5E gimped that ability). Also, Necrons are pretty easy to paint. Bottom line is, less models and paints I have to buy to make an effective and good-looking force, perfect for someone who doesn't have a huge budget (and who also has to buy ammo to support his gun hobby). Also, I like the whole cold, implacable evil feeling of the Necrons. In a game dominated by screaming hordes of Orks and Tyranids and SPESS MUHREENS and whatnot, it's fun to play as a force of silently advancing killing machines. I just wish GW would hurry up and make some more unit choices for them.
