Gathering Storm's Black Templars

Full Army Photo

I'm not sure what Crusade they belong to exactly, since I've incorporated elements from a couple of different ones that I liked the look of. It is notionally a force which is thematically linked to the Purging of Centrati's Eye, if only because that is the "Crusade" which the Marshal and Emperor's Champion belong to.

Unit Photos

HQ

Marshal Helo Malaxan

-Leader of this Black Templars army, and veteran of the Purging of Centrati's Eye. Rather useful, and armed with a lot of random things.

Emperor's Champion Ronaldus Ethalan

-Anointed as Emperor's Champion at some point after the Purging of Centrati's Eye. One of my favourite Independent Characters.

Elites

Sword Brethren Squad "Divine Vengeance"

-One member is a veteran of the Declates Crusade. The rest are yet to be given any distinctions (the photograph will be updated after I have bothered to do so). Rather basic conversions with the Sword Brethren colour scheme.

Sword Brethren Terminator Squad "Holy Wrath"

-Each Terminator has a badge on their leg, indicating that they are from the Declates Crusade. Although one of them also has a distinction from the Nimbosa Crusade. Started off as the AoBR Terminators, but I made a few changes (to make them game legal, and to add some more firepower).

Dreadnought - Brother Lorenzo Rex

-This fallen brother does not belong to a fixed Crusade. It is the basic AoBR Dreadnought, with a few extra Black Templar bitz added on.

Troops

Initiate Squad "Deliverance"

-These initiates are new to Marshal Helo's latest crusade. They are one of two identical squads, armed with Missile Launcher and Plasma Gun.

Initiate Squad "Reverence"

-Another fresh batch of Initiates which were added to Marshal Helo's forces. Armed in the same way as Initiate Squad "Deliverance".

Initiate Squad "Judgement"

-Veterans of the Declates Crusade, these hardened warriors are well on their way to becoming Sword Brethren, and they have recently found there way into the ranks of Marshal Helo's army. One of my favourite units as it has quite a lot of character (with 5 converted marines in total). The "leader" of the squad was once a push-fit Chaos Space Marine.

Fast Attack

Bike Squadron "Swift Heralds"

-Accustomed to hunting down Ork Speed Freaks during the Declates Crusade. Their latest venture, under the command of Marshal Helo, has brought them into conflict with Chaos forces. The only reason I have them at all, is because my brother bought them in order to complete his "Warhammer 40k beginner's training" at our FLGS.

Heavy Support

--WiP--

-Land Raider Crusader

Why I Started This Army

Well, start isn't really the right word. I was sort of burdened with this army (which was less than 33% painted) by my brother, after he had decided that he really liked Chaos Space Marines more than Black Templars. So, after receiving this rather surprising gift more than a year ago, I slowly began touching up the poorly painted models. Then I moved onto the unpainted models, bit by bit, until I had a rather quaint force which had little tactical consideration. Simply put, my brother chose the units he liked the look of most. However, the army is always good for a nice friendly non-competitive game.

Future Plans

Of course, while this is a casual gaming army I do plan to purchase a few new units for it. The next thing I shall be adding is Jump Infantry. So... watch this space.
