Grunt13’s Emperor’s Children

Grunt13's Emperor's Children

Army history

I started a Slaanesh army back in third edition in order to have I competing force that could be pitted against my Ulthwe’ Eldar. When GWS came out with a Chapter Approved that gave the Chaos Marine armies the option of taking cultists mobs as troops I leaped at the chance to field a pure cultist and deamon army. I then started using a unit or two of Noise marines as heavy artillery, but kept my army composed largely of hordes of cultist and daemons.

My cultists were taken away with the 3.5 edition chaos codex, so I invested in adding some more noise marines just to create a complete army. Then the 5th edition chaos marine and daemon codex came out. A moved my daemon prince to my daemon army which left a vacancy in my HQ slot. I added my lord and sorcerer to give leadership to the marines. GWS had a chapter approved giving zealots to witch hunters, I felt that the rules were perfect for EC cultists and a nice throwback to my original army that was composed of slaanesh cultists. So I took some of my original cultist models and added some sister repentias to the units and used the zealot rules for them in friendly games with my opponents permission.

HQ

Lord: The lord is a fairly simple conversion using the Lucius model. He is armed with a Blissgiver and plasma pistol.

Sorcerer: This conversion required the 2nd edition body of a noise marine and the 2nd edition head of a chaos havok. The steed and the force weapon came from a fantasy slaanesh lord. He is equipped with warp time and lash of submission.

Troops

Noise Marines Squad 1 – 3: Squads are similarly armed with 2 sonic blasters and a blastmaster. One of the champions is armed with a sonic blaster

Noise Marines Squad 4: Back in 3.5 this was my close combat squad armed with boltpistols and close combat weapons with a doom siren equipped champion. With the recent codex the need to have the models equipped with pistols disappeared, so I exchanged some for the bolter armed models with the other squad to give a diversity of appearance to the squads.

Rhinos: I tried to paint the models using a swirl technique with tentacle pink and warlock purple. I felt that large pink boxes would look unappealing. Liking the results I went back and painted my marines using the same technique.

Heavies

Noise Marines Havoks: This is a now defunct unit that I can only field in friendly permissive games or using the EC datafex for apocalypse games. They possess four blastmasters.

Defiler: I painted the vehicle in the same manner. I kept off the facemask and gave it an a close combat attachment at the cost off its reaper autocannons. The model has been disassembled I will post a picture after some minor conversion work.

Daemons

Greater Daemon: A keeper of slaanesh played as a generic greater daemon.

Lesser Daemons: I have 24 daemonette models that I usually field in units of 6. I converted some dark elf witch elves into daemonettes. The claws were made by creating a frame with paper clips, the claws were model from epoxy putty, and the teeth were the made from wooden tooth picks. One of my projects is painting up some 5th edition daemonettes when they are completed I will have more daemonettes in my army than marines. I am also working on finishing off my slaanesh daemon army.

Cultists

Zealot mobs: Two units of 18 models. The zealots are largely made up of my old Necromunda miniatures. The squads have 4 eviscerators, one melta and one flamer apiece. I only use these units in permissive friendly games or apocalypse battles. They are unfinished and the product of hasty bulk painting when I needed to create 3 mobs of 36 cultist for my old 3rd edition cultist army.
