Army Background
The 2nd/24th (II/XXIV) Praetorian Regiment of Foot was formed after the survivors of Glazer's Creek were rescued from the planet Montar VII. After the Massacre at Big Toof River and their last stand at Glazer's Creek, the regiments losses were so high that it had to be re-formed. With new recruits coming from Pretoria the regiment was re-born. Each of the surviving troopers from Montar has been promoted and now leads a squad each. Each squad's title is the sergeants last name. As a tribute to the casualties in the Montar VII campaign the regiment changed its number to the 2nd/24th and replaced the dark blue pants with black ones as a sign of mourning. The 2nd/24th is still led by Captain Cain, but since the Montar disaster Captain Cain has changed the regiments fighting method to being defence specialists. Because of this the 2nd/24th are often requested by the Ordo Hereticus to hold vital imperial shrines.
Captain Cain is supported by the veteran specialists from the Montar compaign in his company command squad. The Regiment is broken into two platoons, 1st and 2nd. First is led by Lieutenant Bromhead and is the backbone of the regiment. Second platoon is led by Lieutenant Chard, who, as an officer of engineering has black cuff's and collar as opposed to the rest of the regiment who wear dark green. 2nd platoon is a support platoon with two trooper squads trained to combine to make one large firing line for volly fire. The rough rider cavalry platoon wear dark green tunics so they can be seen apart from the infantry. The cavalry's members are only from the wealthy and noble Praetorian families, this normally creates friction between the infantry and the horsemen.
The Armoured Support platoon is lead by Lieutenant Paton in the Stormlord super heavy tank 'Lionheart'. Paton has kept his platoon's vehicles basic as his way of thinking is, 'Keep It Simple Stupid'. When required, Paton has supplied enough transports available to move most of the entire regiment, with only a few Imperial Navy transports required. The 2nd/24th are part of the 8th Imperial Expeditionary Army which are billited in the Imperial Navy's Obscurus Fleet. Which include detatchments from the Imperial Guard, Imperal Navy, Ordo Xenos - Deathwatch, Odro Hereticus - Adepta Soroitas and the Adepta Astartes

The Praetorian 2nd/24th's armoured support are occasionally loaned to the Cadian 81st armoured along with other Imperial armoured platoons to form the 81st Cadian Combined Armoured Regiment.
The 2nd/2th are part of the 8th Imperial Expeditionary Army which are based in the Imperial Navy's Obscurus Fleet led by the Apocalypse class battleship 'Apocalypse'. Because Apocalypse was the first of its class it name is also the class. The Obscurus Fleet consists of:

Why I Started This Army
I started this army after first coming across Praetorian Guard back in 1998, with the White Dwarf 222 article 'Last Stand At Glazer's Creek'. My Praetorians started as a side project to my Cadian's, but as time went on and I was able to collect more of them and I was able to put a final army list together. Although this army is still not 100% complete, the army list is, and it will not change as i feel that it will change the 'feel' I have tried to get with this army. 95% of this army are original metal models from Games Workshop with only a few unique conversions such as Capt Cain, Master Gunner Cantwell, 2nd Leut Wood and my plasma gunners. The Uniform colours were taken from the real 24th Regiment of Foot - The South Wales Borderers. This regiment was active during the Zulu Wars and was also in the movie 'Zulu'. All other armies and Battlefleet Gothic ships are other projects I am working on. As they get closer to compleation I will be adding profile's and links to them.
