Just saw the following news item on my FLGS' website (http://www.imperialhobbies.com/):

Warhammer 40K

Plastic Baneblade Pre-Release Megabattle

Saturday Sept 29th, 2007.

Start @ 11:00am

Finish: 5:00pm

The Central Library

Teen Center will be hosting this event.

Everyone is welcome.

Anyone participating in this event will be allowed to purchase the new Baneblade on the day of the event, which happens to be one week early of its release date.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, this would suggest an Oct 6 release date - which seems roughly consistent with other rumours we've been hearing.

Well, I wonder if they will include it in the new IG codex. That would fit their fluff, but it would make pickup games kind of dull.

I think it would be a separate release. The next couple Codexes are Chaos and Orks.

I also doubt that it'll use the Forge World rules unmodified.

Fantastic news. Any ideas what else will be released during that time? Should we expect to see Apoc then?

No, but I do have an arm and a leg...

Then you'd get a plastic tank AND a rifle prosthetic...possibly a chainsword hand.

Remember, if you install the M203 attachment to your rifle leg, you still have to train for months before you can rocket-jump like Rose McGowan.

Yeah, it's a spoiler.  You should have seen the movie by now!!

I wonder if they'll concurrently release any other plastic superheavies with the Baneblade?  Anyone hear anything about that?

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

Asmodai, I hate to ask this, but how reliable is the hobby shop that posted this ad? If the place is fairly reliable, then I will start stashing the buckets of money GW is going to charge for this model. If not, then I will wait a little while.

They've been around here forever, and have a pretty good rep. I'd stick away money.

I should see the owner on Saturday, I'll ask him some questions about it then.

I've been a dakka lurker forever but I was talking with a red shirt at my local store and he was told the new baneblade was going to be around $75 and is bigger than the forgeworld one. Take it with the usual red shirt grain of salt but from what he was told any marine or guard army (including chaos) can field one.

Where is your saviour now?

Well, it would make scence to make the baneblade available to more armies. It could be the only way to justify making it in plastic. That being said, I really don't think either marines or Chaos need a Baneblade. If they do get one though, I wonder what vehicle upgrades it will be able to take. A Baneblade with deamonic possession, mutated hull, and parasitic possession would be sick.

Probably coincide with Apoc release.

Bigger? Ick. I like the current ones. I'll get two of them. I'll convert a 'bigger' one into a Stormhammer.

Marine armies can field these? Does that mean we get chapter specific Baneblade doors?

I was talking to the owner of imperial hobbies and he said the baneblade was going to be $130, which is what i have heard elsewhere as well.  Basically the tank is going to be a battleforce of one.  Things might change but all things sound like a go for 130, which i think is WIKKID.

Yeah, $130 (Canadian I'm assuming) is reasonable for the kit.

I'm guessing that the rumored 'codex apocalypse' is one of the new 'expansions' (like Cities of Death) that Jervis talked about during his seminars.

If the expansion does address using Super-heavies in your games it would be only in games that are using the 'codex apocalypse' rules (again, just like Cities of Death games).

While I can't confirm that there are any other super-heavies coming out with codex apocalypse, a little birdy may have told me that it will be a multi-race miniature release, similar to how most armies recieved new miniatures during the Cities of Death release.

Sweet. A multi-race release is always a good thing.

I hope that Apocalypse and Cities of Death indicate a new trend towards that Capt K.

The multi-army miniatures release just makes sense. If GW is to continuously generate money, they have to continually introduce new units and model for gamers to purchase. It makes no sense to introduce an army and string releases for a year, only to have new offerings for that army cease shortly thereafter. I think it's also unreasonable to expect players to own two to three armies just for them to always have some new release to buy as codexes come up for revision.

At least this way we all get something new (and now have a reason to purchase the new codex).

Of course, downside is Codex: Orks gets moved back again...

I'm okay with that if the supplement improves the game markedly- I don't begrudge Cities of Death for example.
I do begrudge chaos and black templars and dark angels though.
