Buddy of mine has 30 I think. He's an excellent painter.

He's going to the LVGT, but they aren't painted yet.

Struth, if 30 is autograph worthy, then 60 must be insane asylum material... I won't tell anyone if you won't. I am liking the whole anvil thing you have going with the wraithguard though. Would perhaps using something a little more hit and run to compliment it be better than hawks perhaps? just a thought.

Yes my friend plans on bringing farseers (fortune and doom) and harlies...it's gonna suck when he gets it built.

Thought about spiders with Withdraw or an Autarch on Jetbike with a retinue of Shining Spears so to speak... they work well with the whole Wraithguard acting as the anchor point whilst the Spiders/Spears dart in and out hitting and bolting etc... The Spears naturally do a better job as they hit with St6 power weapons

Harlies with Doom are more killy than you can imagine.

Oh I don't deny that, was more looking at the flexibility factor as well... the major concern being its a fairly static army for Eldar, and if the enemy is smart, he will kite your forces around the board, especially with the 12" range on your guns of death "Wraithcannons". With some mobile units in there, you will be able to round him up and get the hammer to the anvil very quickly as required. Just a thought, but one worth considering

Even slow units are mobile these days.

With the run rule now in place, putting the enemy on a more even keel speed wise, using the Eldar's highly mobile units (their major attribute) will become even more important than in past editions to outmaneuver your enemy. Alas, go have some shooty fun with your Wraithguard

I think that Every time i've put 30 of my wraithguard on the table i've lost...
to much of a point sink 1200pts and only 30 attacks?

best to use them in small groups in waveserpents... excellent anti tank.

I agree with regards to the Mechanised Wraithguard, however its an expensive option. IMO Wraithguard are one of those units who need to be used at the right place and time, which sadly means wacking them in the back of a Serpent to get them where they are needed. As a basic troop they are a tad too slow to outmaneuver much and work as a very expensive anvil, and not a very good one at that, attrition is the only thing that does win a round of combat for them most of the time. Hawks unfortunately don't hold up well in CC either, especially in smaller groups, but can handle horde swarms quite nicely evidently. Damn work interrupting my train of thought... off to get coffee.

is this list even legal? what are your troops? craftworld eldar lists are no longer legal i thought?

i do but have never played anyone who fielded wraith guard or SH as troops, and i don't see anything about it in the codex. in 3rd edition only an iyanden list could choose wraithguard as troops and if i remember, biel-tan for the hawks.

WG taken in units of 10 may be fielded as troops, so the list is legal. I'm not sure if thewre's a stipulation about needing a spirit seer as well, but the list also has that covered.

There is such a stipulation to make them 'count as troops'.

You can't kill the swooping Hawks. They will never be on the board for your shooting phase.

The Wraithguard are the only units must armies will have a chance at killing during the course of the game.

I imagine you never get a chance to kill the hawks because they just jump back off the board after deepstriking. Correct?

30 wraithguard eh? I have 25 but don't think that many is needed in anything less than 2500 =).

But in all seriousness, wraithguard are much better with farseer support, if anything I'd drop a wraithguard squad for eldrad and have 186 points left over for whatever else you want. A smallish squad of harlequins would do!

With any list, you can always go to one extreme or another but a good ballance is always key imo.

True. This list and the Necron list are really just game theory, they aren't meant to be really played.

Reminds me of a Magic:The gathering deck I made long time back. Friends refuse to play against me if I use that deck.

Deck is build around staying alive and do nothing. Plan is to survive whatever you throw at me and play till someone's deck of cards run out. No rare, just less than handful of uncommons. Thus a very cheap deck against all the expensive builds yet unable to win, and sit there like 3hrs wasting time.

The same stink nonetheless. I really love it.
