Greetings! After making way too many Chaos Space Marines, I decided to start a Traitor guard army, both as a stand-alone army and to compliment the CSM in Apoc games. First, some pics of a full army shot of the CSM:

And before anyone asks, no those aren't Angry Marines, just yellow Noise Marines.

The Traitor Guard army will have a Dark Mechanicus type theme and focus on tanks and vets on Chimeras, backed by a Primaris Pysker and PBS. The HQ will be a converted Techpriest model. Here's some beginning shots (I can never seem to find decent lighting!)

Some Chimeras are supposedly on the way from Maelstrom but they're taking forever to ship. I might post some fluff a bit farther along.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Here's a picture of the squad markings that will be on each squad's shoulderpad and Chimera. I was trying to go for a quasi binary motif. If you squint hard enough, you might be able to make out the 1st squad markings on the above pictures.

Wow, amazing chaos army...glad to see the Warhound Titan make an appearance, it really ties the army together well.

Regarding the new IG project, are those the Pig Iron Feral heads? They really are a nice touch, look forward to seeing this project progress.

Thank you! Yes those are PI Feral heads. I'm glad I picked them up as they fit the theme pretty well, and PI Productions were great to deal with - very friendly peoples!

Mmm, huge Chaos army - nice to see such a force done.

The new guys look great - can you give us a run down of where the bits are coming from? I recognize the ghouls, but not the cloaked bottoms or the nice masked faces.

Others have beat me to the punch here, the heads are the Feral Kolony heads from PI. The bodies are simply ghouls with imperial weapons added and their cloaks are just PVA soaked gauze. It's very easy to do and dries pretty hard.

Sorry for the long delay, but my Chimeras on order from Maelstrom Games has taken forever to ship. They should be here on Monday or Tues.

Got a chance to take a few pics before work. My army has a Primaris Psyker as the HQ, and I originally picked up a Reaper mini to fill that role, but it was too spindly looking. Since the theme of the army is a Traitor Guard army from a corrupted Forge World, I decided a warp corrupted Magos would fit the bill. Also included some better shots of the first Vet squad and the Psyker Battle Squad, plus some modeling on the 2nd squad, with a Sarge with CHAINSAW HANDS.

Also are some shots of the backpacks on the non-melta guys, made with a blob of GS and those apron pouch things from the Chaos Space Marine sprues.

NOTE: The Primaris is still very WIP

Wow it's been almost a month since I last updated. I blame sickness + shipping delays. And the daunting task of painting tanks. Anyhoo, in my 1000 point list I needed 3 Chimeras, 2 Hydra Flak Tanks and 1 LR Executioner. I've finished one Chimera and got the basic 'camo' paint scheme done on the other two. I also have some Chaos-y scratch built Hydra tanks and managed to finish my Primaris Psyker (minus the basing - I like to do the basing in big batches and I'm gonna wait until the 2nd squad is done. Anyhoo, some pics.

Chimeras oh my!

Some pics of the Psyker

1st squad's Chimera (WIP)

PBS Chimera (WIP)

2nd squad's Chimera (Finished)

One of the converted Hydra Tanks, made with a Chimera and Defiler bits (WIP)

And I decided to add some Vendettas, after a few test games with the 1k list. I don't like the normal model so I decided to do helicopter versions of them. It's just in the beginning stages now, I need some Lascannon bits to continue. The pilot is an advanced servitor that is hardwired into the cockpit. I plan to make the main cabin of the chopper more boxy and 40k-ish with some plasticard.

Also a bit of fluff on the army:

The Omniguard is a Traitor regiment from a former Forge World of the Imperium. The planet was very similar to Mars, with an iron rich surface, cold tempatures, and high winds that gave the air near the surface a reddish brown haze. It was held by the Machine Cult of Mars and involved in production of tanks and APCs for several of the Imperium's armies.

It was, however fairly isolated and was an easy target for the Chaos Gods. The High Magos of the planet fell to the multitude of whispers from the Warp, showing him visions of the true nature of things. He had just enough weak flesh left to corrupt, and now saw that the complete victory of Chaos over all else in the universe was the only logical conclusion. He knows that these whispers come from the true voice of the Omnissiah, and has taken the title Avatar of the True Omnissiah. He killed any tech priests still loyal to the Imperium and gathered any remaining priests that had potential to receive the powers of the warp, corrupting their bodies and minds with horrible power. The remaining ground forces were recruited from the Skitarii stationed on the planet, who do not follow Chaos, but merely obey the commands of their superiors, being little better than advanced servitors themselves. The main force of the army consists of the many tanks and transports produced on the planet.

Holy wah, LONG DELAY. Apologizes. I've gotten the first 2 Vet squads with their Chimeras, plus the Primaris Psyker, PBS and their Chimera and the Leman Russ done. I'm currently working on the pair of Hydras. After that is the next 500 points which include:

Another Vet squad in a Chimera
2 Vendettas made out of Huey chopper models
2 Scount Sentinels

Some pics!

Thank you, sah!

Here's an update on the 3rd squad and Vendettas!

An attempt at a plasma burn battle damage on the Chimera. We'll see how it turns out when painted!

Some shots of the 3rd squad, 4 lasgunners, 3 grenadiers, and a sarge with a bolt gun and a huge chainsaw arm (from the Sentinel kit)

And some shots of the heavy weapon team, one of my fav models and I was very happy to put it together.

The "loader" model is removable and is magnetized to the base with little tiny magnets. The loader had his arm blow off, and he's peeking around cover to check for return fire.

Here's shots of the homemade Vendetta bases, made with bolts, plasticard and foam insulation.

And here's some slow progress on of the Vendettas, with magnetized lascannons.

Here's a shot of the GS'ed nut that locks into the base and a shot of the Chopper on the base.

And back to the modeling table!

Nicely done. I give you cool points for creative Heavy Weapons Team bases and excellent use of magnets. Squad markings are neat, as well.

Cool traitor guard!

I'm actually working on some Dark Admec, I actually have a very similar idea to your Skitarii (type) guardsmen, I had to comment and say though the feral kolony heads look great on the models, I was pondering whether to use those and I think I will.

Thank you for your comments guys!

@ Owain: I'm very happy with how the HWT turned out. Thank you!

@ SINISM: Not only do you get to do the lines from Arnold, but you get a model that much closer to the infamous Apocalypse Now screen and get to hum "Ride of the Valkyries" that much louder when you place them on the board.

@ Ezekk: The Pig Iron heads are easy to work with - a dab of green stuff to connect the hood of the head and the neck of the torso and you're good to go! I would love to see how your guard turn out.

@ RustyKnight: The Reaper Mini in question was this one:

but once I put it next to the normal guard model, it looked too skinny and I think I just wanted to play around with a techpriest model too much

Try some washes on your units skin tone. I hear that usig a 1:3 mix of Baal Red:Leviathan purple makes it look alot more chaosy.

@ Brotheralexos: Which unit's skin tones were you referring to? The Psyker Battle squad gray skin or the pinkish skin tone on some of the CSM units?

@ Nyyman: Thanks! It's been a lot of work but I'm happy with it.

Here's a few pictures of the finished Hydras:

And some more WIP on the Vendetta

And some WIP on a Nurgle Demon Prince I wanted to add to the CSM. The "wings" will be painted like human skin from some unlucky slaves that was stretched between some scaffolding coming from the backpack.

Thank you for the kind words chaps!

I heard somewhere that P&M Blogs are 147% more effective if you update them on a semi-regular basis. So have some pics!

Here's the first Sentinel done:

Here's a finished shot of the Nurgle Demon Prince:

I decided to make a dozer blade for my Leman Russ since I seem to throw a track any time I go into difficult terrain. I used a triangle pattern of magnets to keep it on there - that sucker stays on there pretty tight!

Here's few shots of my Vendetta, still a WIP:

My 2nd Vendetta doesn't feel quite right, I can't put my finger on it. . .

Here's the second Sentinel. He apparently saw the camera when I was taking pics:

And my newest big plastic toy - a Baneblade/Hellhammer! HOORAY BIG EXPLOSIONS! I magnetized the whole thing so I can swap out between the two versions.

Hopefully I'll be able to update a little more regularly. Enjoy for now!

Love this, especially the Yellow Noise marines!

Just wondering about your binary squad markings though, by the time you get to the tenth squad you'll have quite a few dashes and dots to do in a row. Maybe you're already thought of that though! Look forward to seeing more (and LOVE your second Vendetta, I'd pee my pants if I saw that coming onto the battlefield
