Subject: BlackDraco's Attempt at a Scratch-Built Chaos Warhound Titan (Updated 6/27/09 - Complete!)
Hola everyone. I've finally gotten started on a Chaos Warhound Titan. I found some templates and am attempting to do it with 1mm thick plasticard. This is my first use of plasticard. First stab at plasticard and you're trying to do a Warhound Titan? Blackdraco, you're mad! Possibly, but if worse comes to worse, this thread may serve to warn others!
Anyhoo here's the very beginnings of the project.
Here's the tools and materials I'll be using for the majority of the project. Chaos spiky bits to follow if I manage to get the base model together
Here's my method: cut out the individual pieces of the template, tape it to the plasticard and use a pin to mark the vectors, then using a straight edge and heavy duty exacto, cut the lines.
Here's a few pieces done. Left piece is the top of the foot, right piece is the "ankle".
The progress so far! A foot and a toe. Can you not feel the power of Chaos already?
I'll try to keep this updated regularly. Hope you enjoy!

YES!! I CAN FEEL THE POWER OF THE WARP!!! MWAHAHAHAHA!!
Your going to need to do a little more because right now i can't say much but it's got potential.

Got a bit more work done over the weekend. The leg pieces are just taped together for the pics, they aren't glued yet. I got the hang of making those curved portions (on the other legs I'll try to take some more WIP pics) and tomorrow morning I'll pop down to Home Depot to try to find small enough PVC pipe to make the joints. I'm waiting for some magnets before I build the waist portion so I think I'll start working on the main body, head and shoulder area next.
I'm thinking I should add some claws to those toes
Automatically Appended Next Post: Some 1/2" PVC joints added on the leg and the main body minus the "roof" portion. The leg is simply blu-tac'd together. The magnets should be in this week and then I can work on the waist portion and finally get the pose of the legs done.

I finished the main body and shoulders portion, only have the head, the other leg and the guns left to do. I want to get all of the main parts and figure out the pose before I add all of the spiky bits and torn apart bodies.
I dug up an older P&M Titan blog and saw that the builder made small magnetized pieces to represent void shield counters on the titan itself. I've shamelessly stolen this idea for my own titan.
Anyhoo da pics:
The void shield bits are still to be made. And yes I know I have grossly huge thumbnails. Helps with peeling oranges and gouging out the eyes of little childrens that manhandle my models without asking.

Remember in order to make it chaos you need to have well lots of chaos symbols.

I plan to have several symbols, spikes, horns and impaled people. I want to make sure the base model is solid first though!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Here's some of the shots of those tricky curved parts on the leg. I'm sure there's some easier and nicer way to do it, but my main tools are a metal ruler and a heavy duty exacto - nothing to fancy!
Here's one of the pieces I'm talking about.
The curved portion is where the PVC joints attach. I decided the easiest way would be to poke many holes as a guide then slowly play connect the dots with the knife.
I then run the knife blade across the curved line to clear up the bumps and ragged edges.
So! Hard part done! Now just to put the top part on. . .
CURSES! Plasticard isn't as bendy as I hoped. I originally though I could take a lighter to the piece and bend it when it was warm, but all I really managed to do is warp the piece and burn myself. So I thought I'd do the following:
I made the mistake of bending this piece too much and snapped it in half, but nothing glue can't fix!
Anyhoo that's the progress on the 2nd leg so far. The magnets won't come in until Monday, so after the leg all I have left is the head. I might start Chaos-ifying what I have done so far.

OK so here's the work on the head so far. I knew right off the bat I wanted one of the big features on the titan to be some horns on the head like you see on Chaos termies. Like this fellow!
I used those disposable flosspicks things for the basis of the horn. You can get a whole mess for em for a couple bucks.
Here's some shot of the canopy and a dry fit of both pieces together.
Only things left are the waist and the gun, both of which need the magnets coming in on Monday. I might begin Chaos bits for the torso and legs whilst I wait.

Don't cry! Get some plasticard and take a stab at building yourself! The best teacher is experience. If you have any questions on how I did anything please ask, but I literally just jumped in with both feet and have been figuring out how to do things by the seat of my pants (and stealing ideas here and there when applicable).
Thanks for the positive feedback guys! I finished up the head and started working on the "spiky bits"
Here's the head:
Here's an impaled orc I plan to paint separately and then stick up on the back/shoulder area. There will be more spikes plus chains up there on the finished model.
I made a 'spiked collar' as well
Under the plasma blastgun, instead of a banner, I plan to have a Terminator banner, probably painted in Ultrasmurfs colors. He's missing quite a few limbs however.
Here's the leg armor gubbins. I plan to put the ornate trim on the legs like you see on most standard chaos infantry leggings.
I want to put some spikes or claws on the toes but I'm still undecided on how to go about it. Any ideas guys? Also if anyone has a 'real' Titan model from FW, do you know the measurements for how wide the 'hips' of the model are (trying to figure out how long I need to cut the hip struts) and also the overall length of the plasma blastgun and Double barreled turbo laser? Thanks if advance.

The magnets finally came in, so I was able to make the waist part finally. Then came the daunting task of putting the legs together and posing them. Here's the work so far:
While waiting for the gobs of glue to set, I worked on the gory detail bits.
Tomorrow I have a day off, so I hope to have the legs finished and the main body done, so I can work on the guns and do some more detailing.
Finally the legs are all set and the body rests pretty easily on the waist. I've added some pistons on the upper legs, some chaos bits on the legs, and some spiky toenail things on the feet. Enjoy!
Thanks ratmkith, borrow away! More horned titans is not a bad thing in my mind.
Here I sit covered in dust from PVC pipe and glue over every one of my fingers - it's been a day! Worked on a few more detail bits but mostly DA GUNS.
Here's a few shots of the spiky toenail bits and the chain tabard - I like how they look on the regular marines so why not one for the titan?
For the guns I went with for the Plasma blastgun and double barreled turbo laser for long range dakka goodness. Here's a shot of the titan with the plasma gun attached and then several shots of all the detaily bits on the guns.
Next on the list: armor trim on the legs, trim on the shoulder areas, many spikes on the back, and the chain bits on both the guns. Here's some fantastic MS Paint concept shots of those chain bits:
The Turbo laser with have a chain with several heads strung on it.
The plasma gun will have the bloody terminator banner.
Yes the whole thing will be painted, which should be soon since the most of the details are done.
I've finished on the legs and base coated it black. I also finished the trim on the shoulder pads and added all the spikes to the back. The orc isn't glued on yet, just have him there for placement. There will be chains hanging between all the spikes, maybe with some more bodies and/or parts hanging from them.
Wow you did a lot in the week I was gone on vacation.
Very good and Chaosy

Been busy with work and hanging out with buddies this weekend, but I finished up the legs. I also felt the blastgun was missing something, so I added some nozzles plus a big choppy chaos blade thing to the end. Here's some pics!
