I use the same varnish for them all, army painter shades and then Vallejo Matt varnish after weathering.

Camera flash and lighting is not great in the gararge either.

How have you found the german army painter spray on plastics? It seems fine on resin and metal for me, but on any plastic it seems to go on thick and stay thick. I've especially had trouble with plastic halftrack wheels and guns. Have you had a similar problem with it, or has it been alright in your garage?

Thanks again for the great comments ;-) always nice to keep you motivated.

As for the sprays, I use the ones from battlefront, the soviet one is great, however the german dungleb and dark grey especially does not cover that well. So instead of overspraying and hiding much of the detail, several thin coats need to be sprayed.

For tanks, I spray once from the top, then stand on one side and spray, then the other, this should also allow you to spray the front back and bottom at the same time.

Looking good as ever. I like the way the airbrushed camo turned out on the panzer IV H schurzen too.

I personally find airbrushing more fun than brush painting and am quite astounded by how much easier and better it gets with each use - a very short learning curve compared to painting normally.

Why dont you airbrush a base coat on your infantry instead of brushing btw?

Hey thanks again, I get better support here, they I do over at warseer, maybe I am wasted over there!!!!!

I tend to use my airbrush for camo only and the brush for the rest. I also find the army painter uniform grey an excellent base coater, as it sticks well and is easy to paoint over with any color.

So much progress! Are the tiger tracks the same as the other tracks you've painted? The base colour looks really bright in the photos. I've found I can save quite a bit of time on tracks by priming them black then painting the wheels instead of attaching them and priming them the colour of the tank then repainting the tracks. It also allows for a sloppier drybrush without worrying about hitting the main body of the tank.

The postage at Dom's Decals is harsh, I always end up ordering extra things that I'll never need just to make it a reasonable purchase. I have a drawer full of allied stars and finnish markings now as a result

No, I used to paint them boltgun metal, but they look to shiny, even after a black wash and shading. I have done the last Panzer IV tracks boltgun washed with devlan mud, not to much of a difference, but hey ho.

The tigers tracks have been painted using the early war method, which was saddle brown, then black shade washed, then dry brushed silver, then shaded!!!! A lot of effort for the tracks, but I do think they look better. I have done this also on the half-tracks and the Panzer II's.
I see where you are coming from with black tracks, might trial it on another unit!!!!

The tiger will eventually form part of the SS Heavy Panzer Battalion 101 consist of a full company of 14 Tiger I's, but I wanted to get some experience of airbrushing camo on the PZ IV's and Panthers, before starting on them.

Ah cool. I generally use the art of war 2 book method for german tracks (all Vallejo colours)

Tracks:

1. Black
2. heavy drybrush Flat Brown #140
3. light drybrush Cavalry Brown #137
4. patchy light drybrush Gunmetal Grey #179
5. Devlan mud wash

The key is just doing a tiny brush of gunmetal grey but I think the end result looks good. Should have pics of my tiger up by early next week at the latest, just need to weather it now the decals are done.

"Straight Fething Silver" Tanith first and only

I have a reputation, Modile, a reputation as a fair, honest man who treats his soldiers well and supports them in the face of darkness. Potentially, that reputation makes me soft. It seems I understand failure and forgive it. Some, like Kowle, believe me to be a weak commissar, not prepared to take the action my rank demands. Not prepared to enforce field discipline where I see it failing. I am an Imperial commissar. I will enflame the weak, support the wavering, guide the lost. I will be all things to all men who need me. But I will also punish without hesitation the weak, the incompetent, and the treasonous.
I am a Commissar. I am empowered to deliver justice wherever I see it lacking. I am empowered to punish cowardice. I am granted the gift of total authority to judge, in the name of the Emperor, on the field of combat.
