Hi all, whilst trying to recover from a recent round of tonsillitis I thought it'd be funny to throw in a round of the current flu like bug thats currently sweeping thre UK and haven't been able to get my usual mini fix of late as I couldn't stand the smell of poly cement with such a raw nose and throat.

Anywho, thanks to the inspiring blogs etc on Dakka I've not been completly idle. I still wanted to get a bit of Salamander fix in to stop myself from going crazy. The results can be seen below. Still trying to think of a name for him so any and all suggestions most welcome.

He stands about 250-300mm tall and is made entirly from paper Came across http://actionpapercrafts.blogspot.com and haven't seen anything like it to my knowledge on here so thought I'd give it a go. There's 2 different patterns that you can download, one was made to celebrate the launch of a Dawn of War which stands roughly 350mm tall when finished, however it only comes with a Blood Ravens texture file whereas the other you'll find listed comes with a huge folder full of different textures for different chapters. You'll also need a pretty amazing free prog called 'Pepakura Viewer' to change the standard Ultramarine texture and print off all the pages you'll need. You can get that for free from here http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/download/viewer.html

Anywho, pics below, hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year, see you in 2011!

I need a name...any suggestions?

Genius! When the world runs out of oil (and therefore plastic) maybe this is the way to go for mini production

Cheers very much, the pattern is quite simple to follow once you get into it, took about 25 hours in total. Cracking idea for a name!..beats the other suggestion of 'Doreen' I had from a friend

Haha could well be...although at 25 hours to make one getting a full squad together may take some time

Working my way through a Warhound Titan at the mo, after getting to grips with the mod above I've decided to have a festive season break from plastic and pour some serious build time into a few more paper/card mini's (can they really be called mini's at 300mm tall?) Also found some life size terminator and space marine helmets that would make a real nice display piece. There's loads of different patterns that you can download from http://www.tamasoft.co.jp/pepakura-en/gallery/list.php although most don't have a texture file with them so I guess Photoshop will be running overtime at some point soon

It did indeedy, strange thing is I enjoyed every minute of it I'd defo recommend it as something different if anyone has the same trouble and wants that nice little break away from the main projects without getting sucked into starting a new army etc...or just something to pass the time in the small hours when you can't sleep thanks to evil evil evil flu!

Wow... so much effort for one marine! It looks quite good although it's hard to see the scale in the pic. Would love to see a regular marine in the frame for reference!

Very good point, scale would help ...ask and uploaded it will be Should also mention that I've finished off the chainsword for him as well...still open to suggestions for names if anyone has any ideas? I'll leave it till the end of the month then throw all suggestions into a pot and see what happens

Together with the new home for my Salamanders company, build still going on.

I'm working my way through a warhound titan and a few 'life size' helmets that I found on various sites to add to the top of the cabinate.

Hi all, long time no update again, keep forgetting that I started this mini blog and keep getting caught up in other projects etc.

Anywho, I've recently added to my collection of papercraft Warhammer goodies. I found a template for a half scale bolter that also comes with a few spare rounds and a shadow box to hang on the wall. Pics below. Enjoy

Those are awesome- I might try making a couple for our local GW store's cabinet!

I have recently been diagnosed with swelling in the brain, so please excuse spelling mistakes and faulty sentences. I am losing my ability to type and talk effectively, but dammit, that is not going to stop me from trying.

There's loads of places out there that have Warhammer papercraft, best thing I've found is to just Google 'Warhammer Papercraft' and loads pop up. For that particular bolter I found the plans here:..

Thanks very much, its way to tempting to have a crack at a full size bolter, but then I think why not go all the way and go for a full scale heavy bolter?

Hi all, busy times again since last update. After trawling the web for what seemed like days I couldn't find a pattern for a terminator helmet that I liked the look of, there only seemed to be one of there that looked a little too long and a bit cartoony. So I thought I'd dive in at the deep end, blow the dust off Solidworks and have a crack at designing a model that could be converted for a papercraft build at 'lifesize' scale with the help of a little fibreglass

Anywho, I've attached the finished images of the model so far below. Any comments on how it could be improved and any volunteers willing to do a test run paper build of the model so far would be most welcome. Please private message me for the Pepakura file if anyone's interested.

Few, Hi all, yet again sorry for the long time with no updates...this papercrafting thing seems to have taken over a little the past few weeks. Finally managed to work out how to make some custom 3d models and export them into the Pepakura programme to make a paper pattern. Currently working on a Salamanders chain sword that'll be about 1000mm in length overall when completed. Would be more than happy to post the pattern files on here if anyone would be interested in giving it a go? The salamander hilt guard is detachable so it could be used as a generic chainsword if needed.

That papercraft Salamander is nice! It really reminds me of the old polygon 3d shooters from the 90's.

What program did you use for the wireframe, and does anybody know if I could do that on unity?

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, "If I Die, You are forgiven. If I Live, I will kill you." Such is the Rule of Honor.

I used an ancient prog called ProDesktop to get the initial 3D model right to start with but any prog that can export as a low poly obj file or 3ds file amongst others can be imported into pepakura. Having said that anything like 3ds max can be used at some stupidly high poly count if you wanted to, the only difference is that you'd be there for ever trying to score and fold all the edges that that way would produce. I've started trying to teach myself to use blender over the past few weeks which seems to be producing some very interesting results
