Hello Dakka,
yesterday morning my familiy and me went out after the ususal firecracking and rocketlaunching of our local neighborhood in the night from the 31.12. to the 01.01. ...
we did a light treasurehunting to search and find leftovers from that massive firecracking and rocketlanching we had the night before.
mark you my wife and me looked after our three sons like eagles to not touch seemingly life crackers so we made sure that only spent things were collected.
these plastic caps/ lids and other plastic stuff i want to create some scratchbuilding with...
the following pics are a first gathering of materials i washed and sorted for further use and also presenting them to you fellow dakkas so you might help me with some ideas as to what might be built frome these parts...
in the evening/night there will be a new set of pics as this is only the first lot of the whole treasure we found...
so here goes :
well as a follower of another thread you might recognize the parts i have waited for long to finish certain aspects of my airship...^^
cheers dakka, your vik

have done that also on nummerous accounts. i even fought my urges to buy crappy toys for scratchbuilding materials....one has to have standards tho...

at mr. burning, what does a comet tank look like?
at shrike, the termite is a definte, as i wanted to do that for my nidkilla earthangels for a long time, will be a stand in for a drop pod then...like not hitting speeze mahrines from above but instead spitting them from the ground...^^
and now for the aforementioned second installment of materials retrieved during my families treasure hunt...
for better reference i had to put a trsutful and standfast cadian footloger in the mids of the pics....now :
these my wife brought me back from a light airing in the stil brisk late day today...i am very proud about here as she sometimes takes a refreshing interest in my hobby^^ and sometimes not but not today^^
some of these scream diarama base to me...or moster base or even heavy weaponbase...^^
and now i can only quote han solo as i have to pull that line here:
"look at the size of that thing...:"
and if you thought thats that and over with that and on for something new....your right and it is even bigger and i will have to come up with something really cool for that here...:
thats a new base size for sure...really i have to strongly recommend searching the junk leftovers from newyears eve to all biulders and meddlers... there is so much strong and nice stuff liing around these days...
i feel quite privileged to have all that stuff for future projects...hope i can pull something good of from all of that stuff tho...
cheers, vik

see the pics below where you posted "look at the size of that thing"?
see the "propellers"?
blue-tac the propellers onto the other thing, maybe make a housing ouut of plasticard and stick two of those onto the back of the zeppelin?
As you know I can't post pics to illustrate my idea- hopefully you'll understand it...^^

I'm "meant" to go to bed at about 10:00 on weekends, about 9:00 on schooldays.
I normally get into bed at about 11:00 and 9:30-10:00.
Sometimes I can't get to sleep or am waiting for a reply on a thread so I stay on 'till about 12:00. Automatically Appended Next Post: I'm one of those people who can't get to sleep without reading.
I get through about a book a week, but sometimes I just can't get to sleep.
My book reading records (that I can remember)
reading LOTR in 3 days (VERY bored)
reading rynn's world in 2 days (on holiday, not much to do)
reading skulduggery pleasant (quite a good read for the more bright teens- then youd get the jokes and such) through this christmas and boxing day. (I unwrapped it and all my presents- a lot less than everyone else coz' I got an xbox), so I sat down and read. For hours. While munching on some chocolates I got from an uncle.

if i see you reading LOTR in just 3 days i would guess you only read the plot and not the whole artful poetry and stuff? i heard lots of people are capable of that crime...even the friends that brought me to tolkiens world never did read the poetry... such a shame, hope you digested it tho nevertheless, and i would recommend to reread the trilogy and then the silmarillion as it is a nice and touching piece of literature. did you now that tolkien liked the translated german version of his texts more than the english one? funny isn´t it?
and i tend to stay up when i am desperate for an asnwer too^^...

I read the poetry, an liked the character of tom...then got mad at peter jackson for not including him in the films.
I was going to read the simarillion, but just never got round to it...and I didn't really understand half the stuff in LOTR because i was 9 or 10 at the time...
But I have a lot of books in my room about tolkein...I even have a tolkein dictionary-type thing, which lists all the creatures and stuff A-Z.

VIVE LA LOTR REVOLUTION!!!
I am pleased with the way he filmed it, and I understand why he didn't just have orcs shoot boromir and run off, instead having an action scene, but he should of gone more in-depth.
He always wanted to do king kong, but wasn't allowed. He did LOTR instead and said he wuld do the hobbit. He then got permission to do KK and made that and got distracted by a load of other films. He's apparently started it now, with martin freeman being bilbo.

argh.... no sir no tau will be engaged by these parts here^^, sorry only joking but i only own about four models of tau so i doubt i will be doing terrain for them...
today i got lucky and got a second one of the last pics black items...together with the first thing i will build a docking station for the airship....this will be something to look forward to...
the sad part is my oldest so told me he saw two more of these things but as we went looking for them they were gone...the citycleaners have done their business...
at earthbeard there must be some old school toystore near you? mostly these helicopter baledes you get with cheap slingshot heli sets for small kids...with a woundup screw made from rubberbands...really i have seen these so often now that i was searching for bldes for the airship i´m creating, but couldn´t be a.....d to by them instead i bid my time trying to scracthbuild or scavange something...
at shrike...
took your fan idea to heart and tried some things during the day...it would look very cool if i could cut cardboard exactly to needed sizes and then arange the bits in a circle...the mocks i did never get to be shot so to post here but maybe tommorow...still have my youngest two kids at home as their kindergarten is still closed...
