Like the Daemon Prince's sword and the blending you have on the pink. That sword Obliterator is also cool.

I hated the lucius the eternal model, but wanted his stats. The way you have painted it has changed my mind. Thank you!!!

Imperial guard: Because quantity has a quality of it's own.

Sisters of Battle can be used in any game, with the exception of chess, Monopoly and of course, Warhammer 40,000.

After 8 editions, you might have thought that GW could get fantasy right.

i have only been painting for about 6months and blending for about 4 weeks so go easy on me. In my life time have only painted like 20 models.

looks like feathering which is similar and also a nice technique to get down. Just need to get the transition to colours smoother and you'll be able to pull off stuff like non-metallic metal with a little more practice put into it.

Thats the plan i want to be able to paint non-metallic metal practice practice

Decided to paint some nids.

Used only white black and washs.

What you think?

This are the paints i used.

Ripper

Im not sure what paint i should use to dry brush.

So story behind this nids, they are in the warp!!!!

Got to dry brush there backs and red parts still, and then going to put a glossy over the whole model.

Seems a bit bright, though I liked the effect it did to the bases. I'm thinking instead of drybrushing maybe darkening the recesses more making the current colours more of a highlight one. The claws themselves I'd say leave as is I like the way they are.

Good idea

Added a darker red wash to the model and then glazed the whole model, including the base and it looks amazing. Going to add some slime and then my first every Nid 100% only painted with wash's and white is complete.

I really like your stuff. It's always nice to see another follower of Slaanesh

Have you tried a soft red wash on your pink areas; it will help bring the blending together.

Well purple also works if it matters, but I'm of the opinion you don't need it with practice for some colours like pink.

Go for the Army Painter brushes. If you want to, I mean

Like the fellow above said, always fun to see Slaanesh marines. I'm putting together an army of those myself. Keep it up!

Thank you, just look them up on ebay?

Yeah well, I got them from a nearby gaming store, if you have one of those in your area they probably stock them. Otherwise Wayland Games, The Warstore etc have them as well.

If getting them means expensive shipping or other kinds of trouble I wouldn't say they're worth it, but I do recommend them

I'd say also look around craft stores for some, just remember you're after acrylic not water colour as those can be too fragile and lose bristles too easily when used for this. Also that a good brush is nice, but like all tools you can go out and buy the best most expensive but at the end of the day it relies on your skill as well. Same goes for the cheap ones; if it's garbage there's not much you can do with it.

I've heard good things about the Army Painter ones though and plan on switching to them myself when my lot wear out.

Longtime Dakkanaut

Winsor & newton series 7's are good investments for brushes, getting a size 0 and a pot of the masters brushcleaner will cost about €15 from a hobby shop, but will last you a very long time if you look after it.

Ordering brushes online is slightly dodgy, as you can't choose one with a perfect point by hand and always risk getting a fork or curved tip arrive.

Ifalna has a good point(haha) about shopping for brushes in person. Around here, only "real" art supply stores carry the good stuff like W&N brushes, not the mass market hobby centers.

If you do go brush shopping, ask them for a cup of water and a paper towel to let you test out the brush as the bristles will have been stiffened with something like the brush cleaner Ifalna recommended. Get the bristles wet until they are soft and pliable and then see if you can draw it to a point by slowly rotating as you pull it across the paper towel.

If the point is forked or curved, or there are bristles that stick out and won't lay flush, move on to the next one.

Im thinking of starting a Light Angle army (Dark Angle) painted like the once above but give them all lite sabers, or starting a nid army, with the wash and glaze paint scheme only, what do you think. Which one should i do?
