I figured since I'm on here a lot during my breaks and then modeling while I'm at home, I figured that I'd join the ever-growing Blog WAAAGH!

As the title says; I'm into Orks. I just can't help it. There is just so much you can do with them. So without further ado; onto the blogging.
I've already posted a couple of pics to my personal gallery of things that I've completed. I'll touch on the two finished products first:
WAAAGH Banner
Or the "Grots of Iwo Jima" as I like to call them.
This is my first kitbash as an Ork player and I'm quite pleased at how this came out. This started out as a simple kit bash just to have a single Grot holding it. But then the banner got way too big for the little guy and so I added in three more after someone suggested the Iwo Jima theme. It took me upwards of about three months cross stitching the banner itself. This was done with DMC floss done on (I found out later from my wife) 30 count cloth. I.E: 30 stiches to an inch. No wonder it took me forever to do!
LOL.
Old Zogwort
Someone at my
FLGS suggested that I try out Old Zogwort in a game. Since I'm a big fan of not proxying things if I can avoid it, I went with the kitbash method. I wound up using a Nob, a Boyz head and a variety of scrap to make this model. Zog's tunic is actually cut from one of those carpet sample books that my wife had laying around for some odd reason.
DakkaJet #1
In retrospect, my first DakkaJet started out pretty dismally:
I detailed out the pilot and grot gunner first then glued, my windows got fogged, and (the worst sin of all) I didn't use spray primer...

I was too wrapped up in cutting out the main engine and nose for the window portions that other areas slipped in the process. I'll let you be the judge and jury for the finished product:
All things considered, I don't think that it turned out half bad. I would've loved for the windows to be totally clear, but oh well... what's done is done. I still like the little Grot engineer hanging on for dear life off of the right wing!
I took the goggled headed Grot from the Gretchen kit and put it on the body off of the warbiker bosspole and then plastered him on. The image is a bit fuzzy so you can't see it here, but I took to cutting in a couple of lines where his tool and his hand is at to make it look like he's slowly sliding off of the wing.

CURRENT PROJECT: DAKKAJET #2
So here's my current project: A second DakkaJet, but this time with some pin-up art on the tail. I'd seen
cormadepanda do 'the Orks of America' on here with his DakkaJet painted in blue with some tail art on it. I loved the concept and, seeing as how I wanted to put some nose art on my first jet and was unable to, I just had to try it myself.
Here's a link to the original image that I'd found in case anyone hasn't seen it yet:

Anyway, so I set out to find what I wanted on my own jet's tail. I wound up choosing "Dangerous Donna" by Chuck Bauman as a template. I loved the art and the way the pin-up was positioned it'd fit perfectly on the vertical stabilizer. Now, disclaimer here, I'm not the best sketcher in the world. I wouldn't even put myself in the running for even the title of an illustrator of any kind. So I'm doing my best here from what I remember from my art and drawing classes back in the day.
So step one: going from Conceptual Design to actually getting the pinup on my tail fin. I started by tracing the outline of the tail on paper (I actually made it a bit smaller so that I'd guarantee myself room on the actual piece). I then spent a good couple of hours, first doing to the rough draft and then going for the details:
With that done, I went on to the next step: Actually drawing the girl on the fin itself. I primed the two pieces on the sprue in Krylon White Primer. After it'd dried, I assembled it along with a little tuft of hair that I had leftover from the warbiker kit. I want my girl to have long flowing hair to make it look like it's whipping in the wind as the plane is flying.
Next, I inked the drawing. It was easier with a pen than trying to use my paintbrush.
Holding my breath and hoping for the best, I went on to the first color.
Second Color. I went with a light, sparkly green since this IS an Ork plane we're doing here.
Annnnd Third Color for the hair. I took a couple of pics because of the lighting. I'm still not sure which one's better...
So that's where I'm at now. I'm not sure if I want to keep the outlines/details in black or if I want to attempt to try to go over it with highlight colors or what. Any suggestions on this part would be much appreciated.
