Up here in the cold, cold north of Alaska, Blood Bowl is making a resurgence with the Juneau Blood Bowl League at the
FLGS: Juneau Gamers. Having always played the computer version (since I could never find anyone to play the table top version), I've only had my lone copy of the rule book and no reason to ever acquire or make any minis. Now that I'm in the JBBL that is now boasting at least ten teams (and gaining more, from what I hear), I now have a reason to make a team and a pitch!
'Da Team: The Indiorkaplyse Koltz
Having lived in Indianapolis during the Peyton Manning Era, I got caught up in the passion of the city for their beloved football team. Since there was already a play on my other favorite team (the 49ers), I decided that I'd represent the Colts in some way in Blood Bowl. That, and I had a lot of cool blue and white paint to spare. I grabbed some of my Boyz from
40K and started making the conversions.
It was really easy to convert the Nobz into Black Orc Blockers; just take off the weapons and reposition the arms a little bit and we have a couple of mean looking Boyz to be the front line!
Here's the whole team. I still need to detail them a bit, but they're at least completed and painted enough to get them on the pitch.
'Da Pitch (until Lucas Ork Stadium is built):
I needed a home pitch in a hurry, so I grabbed some Styrofoam from my father-in-law's garage (taken from the box of his new table saw) and got to painting. I punched holes in the foam to outline the pitch (using a paper template), painted the whole thing, and then frocked the hell out of the pitch.
Once the pitch dried, I spray painted the lines on the frocking and hand painted the sidelines.
Then, the fun part; I took Blood Bowl signs that I found across the internet and glued them along the sides!
This pitch is just temporary and will be donated to my
FLGS once I finish the stadium that I'm in the process of building. That one is going to be made out of plywood and collapsible for easier transportation. I'll post those pics up once I get started.
