Is 'Eavy Metal Calling?

UK

Just like last month, this poll will run for 48 hours, with the highest-polling entry being the theme for next month's challenge and the second-highest given another shot in the next Subject Poll.

For July 2015, the subjects you can vote on are:

Something Old, Something New: "We're going backwards in time!"- your entry should either be a sculpt from before 2000, or a newer model painted in the style of 'classic' GW models from the same era.

Slow and Purposeful: "Are we there yet?"- your entry should be a model or models that are considered slow, lumbering or otherwise clumsy. This could be something with a below-average speed on the tabletop, or just a model that looks like it couldn't get anywhere in a hurry.

Stealthy: " Did you just hear something? Nah."- Your entry should be themed around stealth, sneakiness or subterfuge. This can be represented either in the painting or simply in the choice of model.

Earth, Fire, Air, Water: "Elemental, my dear Watson"- your entry should feature a strong connection to one or more of the elements.

So, what would you like to paint in July?

I found that one hard to choose, I have so many models waiting to be put together and painted but there's always the temptation of buying something new and exciting to fit the category

Be interesting to see what wins, and what mood I'm in to decide want to enter

Agreed! Got some minis older than I am that need some paint. Although I do have a nice idea for a Stealthy diorama.

I... actually don't know. Help?

Are we rushing in, or are we going sneaky-beaky like? I won't be able to participate in July, though.

To Valhall! ~2800 points

You know you have too much in the painting pile when you have two or three models in each category you could do....

I have an old metal azhag the slaughterer model that I've been meaning to do though, so, something old for me.

I voted Stealthy. It would give me an excuse to paint up my Dark Angels Sniper Scouts.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Crikey, I'd actually struggle with most of these without getting creative. I'm excited to see what people put forward though!

Was hoping for something old, something new. Struggling with the other categories. Maybe a good month to catch up with stuff to be painted... Pretty much the stuff I failed to finish for the last two challenges

If I can get some painting and modelling done without my one year old nephew running around the place and investigating everything he can get his mucky paws on then I'm hoping for Something Old. Finally something I'd feel comfortable using my Step-dad's old 1986 metal Space Marine model for, it's been sitting in my bitz box for years just waiting patiently to be painted up.

If it ends up at Stealthy, that'll give me an excuse to paint up some Mandrakes (since they epitomise stealth)

If it's something old, I have a metal azhag model.
Slow and steady, I have a dreadnought or 2 waiting on the bench.
Stealth, it'll be a sith infiltrator for x-wing,
Elemental, I've no idea!

You’d thing stealthy would be a more come-from-behind type win, but it’s been leading the poll. I guess I’ll have to get some scouts primed. Shame, if it was old or S&P I was looking forward to painting up some squats.

Still time for an upset though.

If it's elemental I can still do Mandrakes cause they're all about the fire :-)

Would a group of WW2 paratroopers qualify as stealthy? No idea what they did in the battlefield, I never cared too much for military history after a cavalry charge stopped being a good answer but they look sweet, and I've been playing way too much men of war lately to avoid the temptation.

Actually, I have models for all the categories.
Something old, something new: I could paint some dark angels in a '90s paint scheme.
Slow and Purposeful: I recently bought one of the new Space Marine Devastator Squad kits. I could build and paint those in a month (Dark Angels paint schemes are easy even for me )
Stealthy: As I said before, my Sniper Scouts.
Elementary: Tau Fire Warriors, since they have fire in the name and are part of the fire caste!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Tad late, but Stealthy will be the theme for next month. As SnP has already had two shots, Old/New will carry over to the next round.
