I am picking up a copy of frost grave this week and will probably make samurai themed adventuring parties since o already have plenty of models for it. My wizards will probably be from black hats chinese range.

What about you guys. Do you plan on using the official minis? If so which ones? If not what are you planning on using. Please share photos of finished warbands when done too.

I plan on using some of my old GW fantasy minis. Actually bought a dark elf sorceress this Saturday to use as a witch. Will post some pics tomorrow.

Probably some Perry Hundred Year War minis (knights and archers), although I might well have a go with the new plastics as they look rather nice.

Lot depends on what the rules turn out like though!

I don't suppose this game has guns, I've got a pair of neato GW witch finders that I've been itching to use for some fun skirmish games.

No guns. Crossbows and bows only. I'm sure you could just say your pistol is a crossbow, but there are no rules for black powder.

My group is getting into frostgrave quite massively.
I've ordered the soldier box, didn't really like the wizards. So I'll either use the GW plastic wizard kit or a couple of figures from the discworld range. They are 30mm, but I think they should be ok.

I ended up grabbing the two Sigilist figures (I like their style, they look like nuns or something, but I have no idea if I'll play Sigilist), and a box o' soldiers.

But I have buckets of Reaper Bones figures, most of which will be the recruitment pool for Frostgrave!

I glued one together really quick so it's not been cleaned or had a very good pose picked. Here is it against a Mordheim soldier I had lying around. They're very similar, the Frostgrave ones have slightly less bulky hands and heads.

I'm planning on using whatever I can scrounge from my bits box so it's going to be a rather hotch potch multi racial affair, but I think that gangs shouldn't look particularly uniform anyway.

I'm thinking Reaper Bones stuff. A group of orcs, bugbears, and goblins could be fun. Reaper Bones would also probably be a good choice for skeletons and other monsters.

I'm strongly considering getting the official box, though.

I'm mostly going with Bones, or other generic fantasy minis, though I picked up the Sigilist + apprentice, and the soldiers box.

The weapons are quite abstracted -- you only have the following weapon options really:

Hand Weapon (any single-hand weapon)
Dagger (or other short hand weapon -- does a bit less damage if it's your only weapon, but can give you a slight bonus to combat skill if paired with a hand weapon)
Two Handed Weapon (extra damage, but obviously you can't use a shield or dagger with it)
Staff (less damage, but also reduces opponent's damage to you)
Bow (can shoot and reload as 1 action)
Crossbow (start out loaded, but shooting or loading are 1 action each; more damage than bow).

So you could treat all firearms as crossbows without any worries really. I don't think they massively fit the aesthetic of the game background, which is much more sorcerous in vibe than inventor-y, but there would be no real bother from a rules point of view.

Yeah bones would work great.

Since I have plenty of Japanese and Korean models already I will still be using black hat. I explored other options but black hat was the best value option. Maybe not the absolute best models out there but certainly nice models for the price.

Yes crossbows as guns would probably be the best way forward, but anything more modern than a primitive musket probably wouldn't fit the theme very well.

Just had a read through the rules, seem pretty straightforward for the most part.

Am I correct in assuming that there are no rules for shields? (assuming that is just built in to the units armour value?)

It looks like shields just get you +1 to armour. You can't buy them separately anyway.

I created this little Frostgrave army builder / creator until someone comes along with something professional looking.
