Subject: Would it be fluff-heresy if I invented a race of cubes?
Could even have them as minor warp entities really, I mean the enslavers are basically just jellyfish. And if all else fails just have them mysteriously show up somewhere, it wouldn't be the first time an actual race *cough*tyranids*cough*tau*cough*necrons*cough* have done it.
Automatically Appended Next Post: These cubes are some sort of technological race. Tbh, I haven't fully thought them through. They basically just look like my avatar.

Modrons are a race of creatures in the DnD planescape 2ed setting.
Just look up "planescape campaign settings", "Planes of law " and "The Great Modron March"
For your inspiration this army has also been made

How do they move and interact with environment?
They have developed an Electrostatic Hover System (I made it up, but it works in theory), which allows them to float around. As for interaction, they either have mechatendrils that protrude from the upper facing of the cube, or they have "nanocubes", which are miniscule cuboid robots designed to dismantle the environment around them. The first cube, called "The Grand Cube" has some form of production facility inside it, which allows it to construct all other Cubes, and can create new technologies.

How did you get such an... unorthodox idea?
Well, long story short...
I'm part of the Avatars in a Room thread, wherein you RP as your forum avatar.
After a long series of trippy, plot-ignoring, fourth-wall-breaking events, I ended up being an Eldar Warlock. After a couple of pages of boredom, he spontaneously transfigured into a cube. This cube could be rolled like a D20, and after being chucked into a black hole / broken part of the universe, it became able to speak.
Many more pages of wacky hijinks later, somebody rolled a sixteen. I had created a list of 20 one-word results to correspond with the 1-20 possible rolls, and sixteen's word was "Logic". This caused an Imperial Cogitation machine to suddenly appear around The Cube, granting it a great deal of processing power. It then started dismantling every piece of technology it could get its (new) grubby mechatendril on, and its technological power quickly escalated from there.
And that's about as much logic as was involved there.
Oh, and, somewhere along the way, it became telepathic. I can't remember how.

It was ZergSmasher's psionic blast that gave it telepathy. And yes folks, this is still indeed normal talk on there.

What's the fluff justification for their existence? Evolving into a hovering cube seems unlikely, so where they created by another race or did they turn themselves into cubes?
