Welcome to the 19th Unofficial Painting Challenge here on Dakka! Each month, entrants use these challenges as motivation to get painting, push their skills, clear their backlogs and get feedback from the amazing P&M community here. Anyone is free to enter, whether this is your first model or your thousand and first!

This month, the theme is 'It's a Kind of Magic'. As ever, this is open to interpretation, so anything from a wand-waving wizard to a powerful psyker to an incorporeal being composed of magical energy, if it's remotely magical it goes!

How To Enter
- You may enter up to 5 MODELS as a SINGLE ENTRY, and are permitted one entry per member per month. If you enter multiple models, they should ideally be related in some way, such as part of the same squad, unit or scene if you are doing a diorama
- You MUST post a 'proof' picture of your entry in the thread of the state it was in before you started working on it; this must be either unassembled, unpainted, primed or coated a single colour. Entries that do not submit a valid Proof Picture will not be eligible for voting.
- After this, you may post WIP pictures in this thread and your own if you wish, and on completing the entry, you may post up to 5 final pictures IN THIS THREAD that will then be used for voting. Please note that pictures in a montage or collage picture will be considered individual images for this purpose, so while these types of presentation are certainly acceptable, please keep the image limit in mind when compiling them. For example, a collage of 4 images and one separate image would count as your 5 picture allowance.


So What Do I Win?
- Points... and points mean... bragging rights for the next month Following the vote, points will be awarded to every entrant. This year, the Points you receive will be equal to the Percentage of Votes your entry receives in the final Voting thread; if you get 10%, you get 10 points, if you get 6% you get 6 points, so on and so forth.

These points will be used to form a league table, which will be updated month on month as the results come in.


How Long Do I Have?
This challenge begins 1st September and will end at midnight GMT on the 30th September. After this, I shall compile the finished entries into a new thread, and voting will run for 5 days.

First!

At first I thought I didn't have anything to paint for this month.

Then some genius suggested I take a vacation from Infinity and play Guildball.

Five minutes later I have the Alchemist team on my desk.

So here goes Mercury, womaniser and pyromaniac.

After failing to complete my self-assigned project last month I'll be more modest this month and only enter one model for myself, my Deathwatch terminator librarian:



Even if I have a lot of tzeenchian models to paint, I'll start with only one...

Jr will probably be putting together and painting his weirdboy, proof picture to come... Maybe I can convince my daughter to paint one of her warlocks too, but I won't hold my breath for that one...

I was planning to do a weirdboy, but a better idea occurred...

They're from a uk company that I'll not link to until they actually ship my current order. I'm not sure they're still trading.

ah righto, hope the repair goes well then, looking forward to seeing them painted ...I also hope all goes well with your order, and that the company's still running...I'd kinda like to have a go at painting some of those myself sometime...fingers crossed



anyway, made a little build progress on my entry...it'll still be a week or two before the rockers get here, but I've got plenty to crack on with while I wait...
...still a lot left to add to what I've done so far, but it's a start...and yes, I'm aware it looks kinda hideous right now, but have faith! the meks are on it!

She comes on a hopping thing and I accidentally snapped it, she'll be fine ultimately.

Does your brush break the sound barrier Para? Do you have to adjust the shutter speed on your camera to take WIPs? Damn...

A combination of quick methods, a wonderfully inspiring model and very little else to do!

This is rather fortuitous. I had primed my Rune Priest last month and was about to paint him, then I saw this entry come up so I stopped.
