I believe you hit it right on the nose. In the end that is all that matters, I will say I love how the grey turned out. Also side note how does the GD invite thing work for your guys. Do you have to submit all of your entries that you want to enter in the first stage and keep those, or you just use one entry then when you go to demon you enter all of the categories you want too?

You submit every entry for every category at your local GW store and they aee judged there.

The top 3 in each category then goes to 1 store for a state judging.

the top 3 of each category there then go to syndey for a national judging of every entry for each category collected in such a way

Ahh, so do they hold onto the models then and pass them up the chain or you bring them with? Also please post pics of entries.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

They hold onto them. You dont get them back until you fail to progress.

I only submitted 1 entry, the Blood Raven counts as Calgar for Single Mini,

I really like the rivets. I think they add a neat effect to the whole thing, and gives the piece great individuality. My only concern with them would be some of the placement. Spectacular lenses too. The blue stands at perfect contrast to the red!

I heard today that the NZ regional comp has been finished and that people should be hearing things soon... Dunno if the OZ timeframe is the same, but if it is, Good Luck!

NZ finishes and then gets sent to Syndey.

If you are going to sell it, sell it for twice what you bought it for as it is really well painted.

I like him. He looks like he's just finished a heavy fight and is in a ready/resting position while scanning the area for a new opponent. I like his "core" dark as it just adds more emphasis to his helmet and claws and gives an air of menace to the figure... what did you plan on doing with the parchment?

Blood ravens are on hold until after adepticon.

Also not feeling Codex Marines in games atm, they seem vastly underpowered compared to my blood angels, with a lot less cool options...

I'm not sure when I'll get back around to painting them again...

Oh the jets on that pack are choice! Do you mind taking a better shot of those from the underside so we can see how you did them? (or is it a trade secret?) never seen them done like that before, but it's brilliant!

It's really easy, I only did then in like, 10 minutes. If he was a display model for a painting comp I'd have done it more carefully to get exact lighting, but I'm glad it came up decently.
I might paint the second marine's jump pack first tonight then, so you'll have the photos by tomorrow

Jump Pack Engine Glow made easy.
By Roleplayer.

This is a guide to give you a nice jump pack glow in 4 easy steps. This will work for any colour. I have done blue here because that's what I use for my Blood Angels.
This is intended to give you a very nice effect for your table top miniatures, and was not written to be a how to do a masterpiece guide.
It should be easy for anyone from beginner to advanced to do, and shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes per engine! (not including drying time.)
I hope it helps you!

Step 1.
Using a watered down regal blue, paints the entire engine and everywhere you want there to be glow.
The further away from the 'core' of the engine the blue goes, the brighter the engine will appear. The brighter the engine the more power being supplied to it.
So for an idling engine, keep the blue close to the port, for a flaring engine, have it cover the entire black area and maybe even some of the red outline.
I have done an engine that is idling while the marine walks around on the ground.

Step 2.
Next, you want to mix in twice the amount of enchanted blue as regal blue, again watered down a bit. The same principles above apply, the further away from the centre the brightness goes, the more active the engine will look.

Step 3.
Now mix in some ice blue into your mix, you will have to judge the amount of ice blue you want in. I usually do about 30% of the amount of regal/enchanted blue there. But the brighter the colours, the greater the engine glow.

Step 4.
Finally, some pure ice blue goes in the very center of the engine to represent the firey core idling.

And you are finished. here is a shot of a completed jumpack, next this example one.

Question: How do I do a engine at full throttle.
As I said above, make the colours brighter and reaching further from the core. And make the very center of the engine 50/50 ice blue and skull white.

Question: I want to do a different colour.

No worries, it will work for anything. Some examples are.

Dark Angels Green -> Snot Green -> Scorpion Green

Red Gore -> Blood Red -> Blazing Orange

Iyaden Dark Sun -> Golden Yellow -> White.

Hope this helps someone! Have a good day!
