Alright folks, So... I maaaaaay have totally gotten no further work done this last weekend (shocking, I know! Its not like its wednesday or anything!)

So, I'm just gonna go ahead and thread jack this for the League competition now.

So, I have no pictures at the moment, but I thought I'd post a little something to let everyone know what's up.

So, I got me one of those 100mm x 150mm Monster Bases that I had originally planned to use for the last competition.

My plan is to get some moldable wire (most likely at the end of next week when I get paid) and shape up soe vague spike shaped towers of varying heights.

Now the contest rules state that the guns must be immoble, but I think this will still count, because it doesnt say that they must be huge.

What I'm sculpting is a secret, but you're welcome to -ITS DEVOURER HIVES!!!

I'm not good with secrets...

good luck with that sculpt... i once did some dabbling into nid terrain... it is a feat and a halve!

Somewhere very close by a mortar impacted. Dirt, and rocks sailed into the air and Needles leaned forward over the open wound he was digging in, shielding his patient.

"Those Orks are getting more accurate. Pretty soon, I might hafta move ya." He looked up and scratched at the mask on his face, smearing it with his patient's blood. "Nah." He returned his attention to his patient and held out his hand.

"Nurse, something sharp if ya please." he said. A dirty servo skull flitted over, a combat knife wrapped in its mechadendrites. Needles turned to it and took the knife. "Thank ya kindly. Can ya give me some light, darlin?" The lumen on the side of the servo skull flickered into life and the shined down on the glistening wound. "Now, where was I. Oh yes. The blood thing's connected to the... wriggling thing. The wriggling thing's connected to the..."

Tonight, I present to you, Needles.



Needles was sentenced to Savlar after performing unnecessary surgery on his commanding officer. What should've been just a simple bandage for a lasbolt graze to the left shoulder, wound up with the commanding officer's arm being replaced with a bionic device, as well as his left ear and right eye.



His servo-skull, Nurse, is a mystery all its own. He never tells anyone where it came from, and it won't let anyone near it without him being nearby. Many rumors circulate that it is a former lover, that its possessed, or that he was once a magos biologis.



He makes no attempt to keep himself clean. His tools of the trade are typically old and rusted, and yet not one of his patients has ever developed an infection.



Next weekend, I should be able to start working on the League terrain piece. I'll heep you all posted.

I have an update on my project.

Submitted for the approval, of the League of Extraordinary Riveters (and my followers), I call my project...

The Devourer Hives

So I took this base.



And a bit of this moldable wire.





And built up some towers.



I then took a bit of this.



Yes, that's toilet paper. And I wet it and wrapped it around the towers like so.



Now, I couldn't do much else with it this evening (it was too wet). So here's a couple different angles.





And to top it off, a size comparison.



Thoughts and opinions are always welcome.

And since I said I would try to get one character done a week, I present to you, Trooper Wilkes.



"Trooper Wex Wilkes. Step forward." the commissar barked.

Wilkes sighed and shuffled forward a step. The commissar sneered and marched down the line of troopers to stand before Wilkes.

"Whatcha want?" he muttered.

"Trooper! You will stand at attention when addressed by a Commissar of the Imperial Guard!" he barked, spittle flecking Wilkes' face. Wilkes straightened slightly.

"Whatcha want, sir?" he asked. The portly commissar seethed, his face turning red in rage and his hand made for his pistol. Wilkes head snapped forward and there was the sickening crunch of pulverized bone. The commissar's eyes rolled back in his head as blood pour from his destroyed nose and he dropped to the floor in a heap. Wilkes nudged the body with the toe of his boot and looked around at his fellow death world guard.

"Anyone seen the commissar today?" he asked. "Wasn't we 'sposed to have a meeting or somethin'?" The guardsmen smirked and shrugged as two of them grabbed the commissar's body and casually dragged him towards the back door.



Sentenced to Savlar for not saluting his commanding officer. His captain, also made wild accusations about more than a half dozen missing commissars having something to do with Trooper Wilkes He has since developed less of a liking to taking orders.

by the way... since you already borke free the glue gun.... why not cover everything of these chimneys with hot glue??? it will give everything a nice organic feel!...

and that rebreather look always sells a mini, isn´t it?!

Yeah Vik, I love the way the breathers look.

And I didn't cover them with hot glue because I'm still gonna add more to them. I mean, there will be more hot glue used, just not at the moment.

Tonight I didn't get a single figure done like I said I would try to. Things conspired against me, but I did get some work done on my League contest piece.

I took what I had from last week and, listening to advice, coated the whole thing in hot glue.







I criss-crossed the glue on the base to form a complex organic root structure in appearance.





Then I took a bit of this foam and cut the shapes into it for the chitinous plates.





Which were both super glued and hot glued on.





Next week, the painting will begin.

You will need to use an actual primer. paint will not like to stick well to the hotglue, or the neoprene foam.

I'll have to pick some up then, cuz I don't have any.

be sure to use a primer that is good for foam too.... as the regular primer will belt the foam...

and i am not too sure about the foam scales yet... but i keep my gob shut for now^^

tho the only glue surface looks wicked!!!

Sorry for my lack of updates. I seem to have hit a wall when it comes to this current project. But I did manage a little something.

So, my Devourer/Fleshborer Hive has been rolling around in my mind as I feel like I'm failing at it harder and harder. But here's what I added to it the other day.



I took the WORST IG legs in existence, slapped on a spare torso, and pulled the empty helmet off the sprue. Then, I stole a skull and an arm from my friend's Tomb Kings that he gave me to paint for him something like.... 10 years ago. ANYWAY, after considerable shaving, I managed to fit the skull into the helmet. Then, I snipped off the right hand and replaced it with the skeletal right hand. I also drilled various holes in the body and glued some black beads in place to represent the beetles eating him. Lastly, since the head was sitting really low, I snipped off the elbow at the top of the skeletal arm where I got the hand and glued it down as the neck to raise it a bit (you can't see it).



Then I glued him down onto the base.



As you can see, I may have started painting the tower. But they're nowhere near done.

All the hot glue is going to be painted blue (the color of my tyranid army) by the time its done. I just need to get there.

I must say this probably my favorite project log. Your thread and your models has what many lack, character.
