Great job NF09! The sang guard models are turning out quite well though I'm really interested in seeing the death watch models. Thinking about doing some of my own for awhile now.

I haven't got any further on the DW model, it's just not as good as I want it :-( and the calibre of others entries to date is outstanding, so unless I get really inspired I don't think he'll be anywhere near as nice as my Sang Guard, which i have to say I am stoked at how nice they're looking, the silvery gold is different and looks great so far ;-)

Your DW guy looks awesome man, the paint is crisp, the detail on his face is really nicely picked out, it's like someone froze and shrunk a real guy!

If you want to make him more eye catching, why not drill the bolt gun barrels, add a gak load of icky gooey blood trails coming off his sword and put him on a diorama base a top a hill surrounded by cleaved xenos and or traitors?!

I love gold, it's such and epic colour (both due to it being difficult to paint properly, and 'cause...well... it shiny!)

Hey KC, thanks man, that's a nice compliment to get! I put off a White Minatour army as i couldn't paint gold! and now..... I really gotta try and get some better pics, they should be done by next friday!... actually they WILL be done!

Yanno what, Ive wanted to see someone attempt that army for years. Although admittedly, I cant stand the color of gold in person, but I think gold is such a PITA to paint well, Ive been wanting to see someone try and pull it off. Much like Squats, I think. I do not like Squats at all, but when someone makes a Squat IG army, and its done well, I REALLY enjoy it. And a nicely Painted Ultra Marines force. Though I wont say that to loudly

Aaaaand now back to normality! thanks KC, the sang's were actually really easy to paint gold once I figured out a method for it and if you batch painted marines using it, you could churn out a decent White Minatours force really fast and to a pretty good level imo, I can agree with you on some armies as well, you love to look at a really well done force but would cringe trying to do one yourself! for me, chaos springs to mind, too many fiddly little pointy bits and clutter, but I always look if someone's doing something special

Oh, one last thing everyone, I'm still looking for a good loadout for a 10 man DC squad? what sort of cc weapons should I have mixed through them? or will bolt pistols chainswords and the occasional power fist be good?

A Chainsword is no more powerful than a fist in 6ED, which sucks, because it's my favorite Grimdark CC weapon.

Interesting! so either would suffice in a squad depending on points? I like the idea of giving them just the 'ol trusty bp & cs and pointing them at the bad guys, but I think I may need to add a melta or something a bit more punchier? then again, I've heard about 6th using the closest model to take wounds? so it may be tricky to position some hard hitting stuff? thoughts? enough questionmarks?

I want to build a Dreadnought with tl Autocannon arms, I can remember seeing some companies do alternate ones I can use, I've been to the site once ages ago and i think it was polish? not Puppetswar though, the ones i can remember looked 'similar' to the FW ones and were reasonably priced, but I can't even find any other companies now! my Google-Fu is weak as hell today! can someone please... pretty please help me track some down? :-)

Lol, only just got beaten Finnan! those Anvil ones look damn cool too! I can't believe i missed them when i read through the thread! :-( I just ordered some from Forgeplanet, so we'll have to see what they're like? I've not seen anyone use their stuff yet!

Cheers Vit :-) I had checked them out but while i like the sculpting and the guns, the aesthetic of those arms on the Dreadnought just seems wrong to me :-( have you seen any painted examples that look decent I can have a squiz at? might sway me to add some down the track :-)

Good day fellow Nerds got some work in progress pics for you!

I have a good mate who's just starting to start 40K (50shadesofgiggity) he has decided on Chaos marines, a good choice considering they're rumored for a release soon! he just likes the imagery and wants to be a 'bad' guy for once as he usually errs on the side of good! so we jumped on Ebay and snapped him up some models to start with, I will be helping him learn to paint and assemble what he gets in the mail and as a starting gift to him I decided to make him a Chaos Termie Lord to lead his force, using mainly bitz from my bits box I have him mostly built I wanted to Chaos-ify the set of normal Termie legs I had so i utilized some of the skulls i was using for my Necrons and cut the faces off them, glued them onto the leg of armour and brown stuffed them to blend into it better, I like how it looks together now and with a storm bolter and axe that i hear is quite good this edition he should be good for him!

anyway this is as far as i have got with him






Got assembling my Terminator Sanguinary Priest too, I think i may need another one down the track but we'll see how he goes!


And now onto the Sanguinary guard models! these guys will be finished tomorrow and i love how they're turning out! love to know what you think!

Looking good - the burnished/white gold is great, a little colder and just meaner than a full, rich gold. Good choice!

Loving the skullz on Chaos dude - just looks really creepy, which is the point I suppose lol

Thanks fin, I thought the same about the armour, cold and mean sort of burnished and polished to it's changed colour somewhat? and I like the way it sits in with the rest of the army now, plus when the wings go on tomorrow they'll look even better! :-)

And Chaos Lord is kinda creepy which is good, i hope I can smooth it a bit more and when I paint it doesn't look like they are just stuck onto him? I'm just waiting on his head from Puppetswar but I should prime him tomorrow as well and make a start :-)

no, not at all, the skulls look as if they're pushing out of the leg armour - lost souls trapped in the armour?

The chaos lord is looking very nice I guess with all the Skulls he will be a devote to khorne?

The Sang guard are beautiful though I really like how weathered they look showing their base metal. Which is very nice and shiny by the way. Makes me want to paint a unit like that.

Is the apoth arm for the termi recast, or just painted white already? Most GK players have spare, you don't need 1 per 5 in any list.

Anyways, the lord is looking sharp. Always liked the souls trying to escape look, fits a non-specific lord very well.

Lots to show you today! lots of opinions needed and some models i'm pretty darn proud of!

first up lets take a look at my interpretation of a Flesh eaters chapter master in Termie armour! i'm not entirely sure about how to arm him but my research has led me to believe I can give him a lightning claw and a chainfist to make him aggressively nasty in cc, but my quandary lies with if he is also allowed to have a shooting weapon on his person? I've used the Huron model and changed his fist to incorporate a combi melta work in progress, if he can't have that armament then can you please tell me what he should have? if he's better off with just the chainfist and counts as lightning claw then i'll delete the combi melta and spruce his arms up in other ways

but here's what he's looking like at the moment the head comes from Puppetswar and i've chosen the head with the mechanical lower jaw to fit with my army's theme








Next up is my finished sanguinary Guard! I am totally happy with them and very glad I decided to paint them! only have to drill barrels and finish the actual banner but the models are all done! I chose a different bare head than i thought i'd use, once they were painted and i dry fitted a bunch this one just suited the look of esteemed battle hardened veterans with a long and proud history of war!















That's all I've done guys! next up i'll paint.... ? dunno so much to choose from! I got tanks, speeders more marines, chapter masters, termies?
