I really like the style of the Wolf Guard, it keeps up a very Space Wolf theme but also has obvious membership of the Red Corsairs.

Thanks Guys,

I'm at a point where I'm not sure how I want to proceed. When I First started my SW I didn't really have many troop models. So I started converting Berzerkers to wolf guard. Through trades I now have plenty of troops. So I started magnetizing some arms on 12 of my guys so that I can make different combos for my wolf guard. dantay_xv gave me a suggestion of just painting the shoulder pads different. That way if I need more Wolf guard or a plain Grey hunter i can switch it easy.

Wolf Guard = Black pad
Grey Hunter = Red pad
Claws = Yellow Pad
Long Fang = White

So this was my test model for the new Wolf Guard:

The only difference in the colour scheme is the shoulder pad it is black.

but this guys colour scheme is reversed

So I'm at a loss for I like both of them. One can be Interchangeable which is really cool but the other strands out better

I like the reversed pattern quite a bit.

I suggest you keep both, mix schemes between squads to give each a unique quality.

So I got stuff in the mail from Puppets of War, I cant wait to play with it. I bought civil war heads, warewolf heads, and a CC dread claw

I love the claw but I'm not a fan of the shoulder on it. I might use the square dread shoulder and somehow attach it to this.

For the civil war heads I only reall got them for the one in the cowboy hat. I think it would look amazing on power armour

The warewolf heads... mark of the wolf maybe... wulfen?!

EDIT: WOA photobucket is no longer blocked here at work!! I can see Images again!! I hope it stays unblocked

Very Nice!! Everytime I see this it reminds me of Crocodile Dundee for some reason.
The colour scheme is very nice but Dont all red Corsairs have a black w/ red trimmed left shoulder pad??

Thanks Mr.

I always thought it was mixed up and random, But I kept mine unified. Red with black trim. Only reciently that I decided to make the right shoulder pad changeable based one status, Grey Hunter, Wolf guard, Long fang, etc. based on this conversation with Dantay
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/90/349389.page#3246909

The left shoulder pad is for the Astral Claws symbol (If i ever get the Decals lol) which is the black claw on red shoulder

I really like him Styro. You're right, the head is great. I get a kick out of a space marine wearing an old US Cavalry hat...

Looks fine the way it is. Blue or grey would look out-of-place with the rest of the color palette... though a proper Union dark blue probably wouldn't have looked that far off.

Thanks I kinda liked the black hat. Might fix up the crossed swords to be a red 'X" instead

Or..

I could alway replace the head with this!

This is also from Puppets of War. My wolfman heads. This one need one more highlight and a coat of matt and maybe pupils not to sure. I got these for wulfen, MotW. (Awooooooooooooooooooooo..)

While I really like the cavalry head, there is a certain appeal to the wolf-man head... especially given the space-wolfy skull codpiece and toothed necklace & tail. Like a space wolf whose wolfy geneseed got corrupted a bit too far...

What brand of primer is that because it might make it easier for me to paint my RCs
I kinda made a Boo Boo with the shoulder cus I've been trying free-hand fists on their shoulders for the past few weeks.

The red is painted from my Air Brush.

Long fangs MLs (I forgot to paint one) after the final highlight I gave them a gloss coat. I find you get more control with washes on a gloss finish.

Another guy. I gave him a wash and I thought it was pretty clean but looking at these photos I'm all over the place

This guys arms are magnetized

He can be a wolf guard or a plain grey hunter

This one I basecoated the details and black parts. This is a Wolf guard only (not magnetized)

I never thought of that. I just gloss the red because i find the Air Brush paint too thin and I have a tendency to scratch it off. I also find that a gloss surface is easier to add washes to.

One of the airbrushing tuts that I've found on the web talks about spraying on a satin varnish before you try your wash as it really channels the wash into the recesses nicely. I don't do it as a matter of course... but then I often use my washes not only to enhance the crevices but to stain the overall color of the base paint. No question the satin varnish does help to make the wash flow nicely.

Looking good so far, all these guys without heads is a bit disturbing lol

The Cavalry hat guy is really cool, would make a good squad leader.

Thanks,
I have a tendency to paint the heads last, mostly because I dont know what head i like per model

So yesterday I managed to work on the werewolf head. I gave it some character. The original look of the head was a bit scary and primal, so when i tac the head on a marine it looked out of place. 'why is a beast holding a bolter?' So I tried to give the head the look of intellengence. while doing it I kept thinking of Wolfman Jack, the wolfman from the hilarious house of frightenstein and alittle bit of beast from Xmen.

"Awooooooooooooooooooooo... Werewolf!"

So here is the picture of the Wolfman head on a marine along side the Civil war head on the same marine

Not sure which I like better. So I ask you fellow Brothers, which do you prefer?
