I was at Gen Con this last weekend and they had the game there at the Black Industries booth. I'm very glad that Black Industries is releasing it and not GW or Specialist games. I really think that the Black Industries guys know what they're doing and have their heads screwed on straight. The seminar i went to covered some new expansions for WHFRP and Talisman and the WH40KRPG. They said the new talisman is based on the 2nd edition rules of the game and has only minor tweaks. The art and miniatures are all new for the game. I guess they had 50 boxes a day that they could sell and were selling out of all of them each day, so very popular! I should have bought one but oh well.

There seems to have been a recent upsurge in interest about fantasy boardgames which it is good to see GW taking advantage of. I just really, really hope they chose to sell it through their stores, rather than make it Online Only.

I've heard a lot of really good things about Talisman. It seems like it would be a lot of fun. I really hope they do this right. So GW is licensing off it's board games for other companies to make? Probably for the best in this case - Specialist Games is already strained enough. Is there any chance they might work on some other stuff, like Space Hulk?

Meh... paper figures ftl. I might pick it up for the rules, assuming the rules are cleaned up from what GW did, but fortunately I have loads of plastic bits from 3rd Edition. Oh, those links go to a "Page cannot be found" message.

There is, of course, a third option -- selling it through hobby stores that normally carry such boardgames.

They should have given the license to Fantasy Flight games. They redid the 1987 GW game "Curse of Dracula" and it seems to be a very good seller. Even the newer Curse of Dracula comes with minis.... Its not a huge deal, but its a nice touch.
Fantasy Flight are the alchemists of board games. Just about anything Fantasy Flight touches seems to turn to gold. If it was gold before, then they make it platinum.

Ah yes, the game that never ends. If I am lucky enough to have at least 3 hours to spend with my friends we are going to do or play something a little more interactive and exciting than Talisman. The game is a tribute to the free time that we had once as youth. By the end of the first hour, you may be still somewhat amused. But by the time the second hour is up, you are bored and are hoping someone - anyone - beats the Dragon King, (or whoever the main bad dude is). You pray it doesn't go beyond three hours, but it usually does.... Give me Game of Thrones, Axis & Allies, Fury o' Dracula, or anything else, if I have that much time. Each of these games are tons more interactive and fun than Talisman. Mez

I never played Talisman, but I do like Warhammer Quest (even though I invariably roll a one and get pounced by d3 minotaurs...).
What's the $ tag on the new game?

Me too... WQ had the problem with "where's-the-T--junction-I-remember-packing-it-the-last-time" syndrome though. It's no fun when you have a dungeon that looks like the corridor of a fiscal office. On the other hand you could really feel dread building up as you approached the final chamber. Now I'm waiting for "Trolls in the Pantry".
