Whew. Been a busy weekend of painting. Seven Eldar completed, three robots completed, various 15mm work, and assembly, priming, and base coating of my Domitar. Busy.

My challenge for the month of September is going to be primarily Forgeworld, GW, and Mantic robots. So, Domitar, Mechanicus robots, and as many of my Mantic Dreadball robots as I can. In between working on the Domitar and the Mantic robots(which I'll photograph later), I've been working on some of my metal Eldar. I scrounged up four of my Fire Dragons and worked on a pair of Swooping Hawks.

I wanted to do something a bit different for the Swooping Hawks as I was getting tired of painting red from when I worked on the Banshees. So, I tried yellow. It makes the Hawks look more like Canaries, but I like how they turned out.

Now, the Fire Dragons, they were some of the very first GW figures I posted on here. Way back when I started them, I decided to go with a black scheme for their armor with some red highlights that faded into orangey yellow. Looking at the figure I'd done back then, I wasn't really digging how I had gone about it. So, I decided to retry it using a different technique. Here's the result.

I really like how they look now. Much better than my original attempt. I picked up an Eldrad over the weekend, so these guys will actually be pretty good practice for him.

my faves are the Anvil Guardsmen and the Firedragons, the colour palette you've used for both is fantastic

I'm much happier with how the Fire Dragons look now than my original attempt. I think the darker colors look better on them than the orange and yellow of the official colors as well.

Here's more of the stuff I worked on over the weekend.

These three are part of my monthly challenge. These are part of my Ro-Tek Brutes DBX team, which I will be relabeling the Junktown Scrappers.

I wanted to paint them up quickly and I wanted them to look used, beat up, and rusted. The green bits I was hoping would look a bit more like worn off paint.

as for my 15mm stuff, I painted a wrecked Duxis Battlesuit.

a Duxis pilot. He's holding a survival kit in his left hand.

And some Nephilim Soldiers from Micropanzer Studios, which are more than a little based on the Geth.

I like the 15mm stuff.

Didn't you say you built a terrain piece as well?

Ah, yeah, I did. The Hab Dome. I still need to dullcoat it though as I'd used a gloss wash on it and it needs a tad more detailing. Here it is though.

I actually started messing with my Battle Systems terrain tonight. Cool stuff, but I seem to be having trouble getting the roof/floor bits to sit properly. I suppose it would help if I watched the tutorial videos. Still, fun stuff. I had to take a couple pics of the setup on my coffee table.

Okay, that's probably the hardest part of my September pledge now finished. My Mechanicus now have a Domitar Battle Automata at their command.

And obligatory size comparison.

It's a bit deceiving. The photos make it look huge, but it's honestly only about as tall as a GI Joe. Still, I love the thing. As you can see, I decided not to go with the standard Stygies VIII colors. I thought going all black and red wouldn't look too good on this. I wanted to go with something similar to the studio colors, but when I tried some of my greys, they blended into the silver too much for my liking. So, I went with a bit of a compromise and went with a dark grey. I've added the Stygies red and black to his right pauldron so that he doesn't stand out too much from the rest.

Now, it's on to more Mantic 'bots and then I'll be doing the GW robots.

Love the colour choices and paint work on the Aspect Warrior's, and that automata is excellent. I really love your pallette of colours and the work you do with them, inspired work.

glad you like 'em. My one wish though would be to be better with cooler colors. For whatever reason, I can't seem to get them to work for me.

Well, tonight I decided to work on my SLAUGHTERPRIEST WITH HACKBLADE. He was kind of fun to paint and I've been wanting to paint some Khorne stuff anyway. I still need to apply some blood to him since, you know, he's a Khorne follower and all. But, I'll do that after I seal him.

I don't think the picture really does my paintjob justice. He looks pretty nice in person. But wow is this dude gigantic! He's probably at least twice the size of a regular GW human. Forget the Astartes program, worshiping Khorne apparently makes you superhuman.

I told you the guy is huge!

Looks good.

Tempted to get another one just because.

Heck, for the price, you could get a couple and make some interesting Chaos Marine conversions...

I've been a bit neglectful in my robot painting duties this week. After the Domitar and the Slaughterpriest, I should've been painting more Dreadball robots. Instead I finally got around to painting my Mars Attacks pickup truck. It's Mantic though and it's been sitting in my painting queue for a long time, so I think that will still count towards completing my monthly challenge.

What do you guys think?

Yeah that's awesome. I'm gonna be coming back to this for inspiration. The mud and weathering are inspired and I like the simple effect for the glass. Great work.

And continuing to not work on the monthly challenge, I finished a pair of MERCS metals. I finally got around to completing that Kemvar Grenadier and I painted and completed the Sefadu Shotgunner.

I've come to the realization that GW's gloss washes actually do achieve the same results as the floor wax dips, only without the mess. These washes are great, if you won't mind having to do some dull coating.

Both look nice. Are those post dull coat?

I can't recall if I saw the gloss results or not. Point it out to me next time we head to the hobby shop.

Your Sefadu guy is definitely the kind of inspiration I need to get distracted from my current project and get more work done on my own...

Update time. This week I've been working on my GW Mechanicus Robots and Datasmith. I've finished the Datasmith and one of the robots, but I'm going to hold off on showing the robots until they're both done. For now, here's the Datasmith.

I'd picked up an Eldar Autarch a few weeks back from the FLGS. I finally got him finished.

I know, my paints on his backpack are sloppy. I was rushing. I'll clean them up.

Lastly, on an impulse buy, I saw a seller on Ebay selling the old metal Valerie Duval from Warzone, so I grabbed it. Not a bad looking figure for its age.

A whole bunch of great stuff again, Barz. The standouts for me are the Mechanicum and even more than that - the Eldar (all of them!) and also the paintwork on the Mantic Truck. The model there isn't super-amazing, but your paintjob on it is.

It's funny, my truck seems really popular. I got a lot of congrats on the paintjob when I showed it at the FLGS, too. One of the staff members was even showing it off to some of the car modelers.

I'm just about done with my September pledge. The Kastelans are both finished now.

You may notice that the arms are a tad longer than normal. I basically just lengthened the arms by combining the Power Fist parts with the gun arm parts. I think it looks better like this. Now they have access to the guns and their big punchy fists! All that's left now is the finish up the Dreadball Mechanites.

I also painted up this totally random set. I believe this was a Barbarian Princess from Celtos. I tried to get some pics of the girls holding the princess up, as well, but it's hard to make out their features.

Pretty random, huh?

It seems that the shield maidens holding her up are losing their ability to support her, either she is heavier than she looks(muscle mass), or she has been speech making too long from that shield they are supporting.

Castellans are looking cool as well, beefy robots!

I'm assuming the shield ladies all are glued down now, as last time I saw them they weren't.

The Barbarian Princess looks great, as do the Kastellans. Army shot of your AdMech sometime soon?

I suppose I am due for a new Admech army shot. Maybe I'll do one before the weekend is over.

I finished up my September pledge though. The Dreadball Extreme "Junktown Scrappers" are all finished. Here's the final four 'bots.

I'd originally planned to do them and the Chromium Chargers, but I don't much feel like tracking all of them down, so I'll leave them be for now and call this month complete.

I also finished the remaining six Nephilim Troopers from Micropanzer, which gives me a full ten-man squad. Though, I do lack heavy and special weapons.

Well, I wound up seeing the Magnificent Seven, and that kind of ate my day. I didn't have any sunlight left to take an army shot, nor did I have any yesterday either. I will get an army shot sometime this week though!

In the meantime, I got two more 15mm mechs done.

I got a second Duxis Battlesuit, which I did up in the Brawler dual powerfist configuration.

And, I completed one of Micropanzer's Titanfall styled mechs.
