Well, after taking a four month break from my Warlord project, I have returned to it. Here is what I have so far. A lot of the detail work doesn't show up, but you get the idea. (my camera-foo is weak)

It's a vaguely titan-shaped lump of plastic, so far. What's there to critique about it?
I'm kinda curious as to size, personally. The warlords they wheeled out at Games Day were something like 4 feet tall...

Is it the prespective, or do the legs look a little short and small? The individual bits look good by themselves, but together the guy seems a bit off proportionally.
Maybe it's just the angle...

Well, thanks to all your reactions, I have made a few alterations. I rebuilt the arm, making it slightly bigger in all dimensions and adding a second barrel. I also added some turbo lasers to the shoulders.
As for th e questions, it stands about 20 inches tall, as I wanted it to fit in with my armorcast collection and also be usable. The legs do in fact just appear to be too short. They are actually a tad too long when measured up to an epic Warlord. In the next day or so I will be adding "Wheel wells" over the hip to make it look like the hips are a bit beefier. Basically a section of PVC pipe cut into a "U" shape.

Good work on the guns mate. This Titan looks very neat after the Base-coat. Great job, I am very jealous!!
How many hours labour all up you think? Could you please post pics with something to compare size? LR?
Anyway Cuda-Kudos to you Sir.

Nice work! The torso and gun look great.
As for the legs- may i make a suggestion? If it's not too hard, remove the feet that you have there, and add another 3-to-4-inch section below what you've got. It could be slightly larger than the existing "shin" section, and detailed with either troop space or entrances ports.
Just that little proportional adjustment will make the whole thing live up to the work that you've done on the torso. Don't worry about proportional comparison to an Epic Warlord, as some features are usually exaggerated on smaller mins to make them "pop" to for the eye (much like 30mm humanoid mins have proportionally huge hands and heads). Just make it look good at the scale you've built it to.
And the hip guards that you mention are a good idea.
Again, nice work! May it crush many a xenos cur/gamestore kid/awed apocalypse opponent!

I like the torso and the guns as well.
I don't care much for the legs.
The Warlord legs, in the pic, are massive armor plates in front of a mechanical leg, and not a solid boxy leg.
Also, your thighs are under armored, and there is no apparent knee. This isn't a bad thing per se, but it looks more like a transformer's leg than a titans
If your keeping your existing legs, I would suggest at least adding thigh armor.
Here's a template I made for Warlord Titan Thigh Armor. You may have to scale it down to fit your exisiting legs.
If your interested, I have my own thread about my WIP Warlord Titan
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/206339.page
If you have templates for your torso, or you could make a sketch with measurements I would be greatly interested as that's what I'm working on at the moment, and I like the look of yours.

It almost looks like it's standing at attention, not crushing enemies of humanity. Give it some life, make it crushing an enemy tank, or walking through a city bending some to shoot something not straight ahead.

adamsouza,
I sure can give you some measurements off of mine. I at one time actually had blueprints, but unfortuneately my wife threw them out when we moved a couple months ago. They might be hard to explain, so I will send pic to show you want I am measuring. I might need your e-mail for that though.
As for the legs, there is and actual knee, it is just hidden behind a large piece of armor. I basically detailed the shin armor so it looked like a hockey goaly, or a space marine without knee-cap armor (hopefully you know what I mean). Armor from the shin rises in front and over the actual knee to protect it from incoming fire.
The boxy shape was a compromise for me. I went through about a dozen designs and two failed prototypes (they were really ugly) before I decided to go for the more box-like leg. Besides, a Warlord with that kind of leg is actually shown in one of the titan novels I have.
Sturmtrooppe,
Although I have it possed that way now, it can actually rotate at the waist, and pivot the arm weapons.

I'm liking it. Certainly better than many that I've seen.
The legs are probably the weakest part of the design. I know that you mentioned adding some "mudflaps" to the hip joints, but I have an alternate suggestion. Could you instead bulk up the hip joint by adding some kind of cylindrical business to it. Maybe get a 2-3" diameter tube, cut out a small section to make it look like a "C", and slide it over the existing top of the leg/hip. Then cover the exposed end with a disk of plasticard and add some additional circular doodads to make it look functional.
Another thing that I feel could use some attention are the feet. The toes seem odd since they are positioned on the diagonal rather than at the cardinal points. Consider adding some toes to the front and some smaller ones to the side and rear.
The last thing that I want to mention is that the shin armor looks a bit plain. Consider adding some additional plates or some edging to dress them up a bit.

Arstahd, What you suggested is pretty much what I was going to do. The shins just look like they have no detail. With it all painted grey it is hard to see the armor plate and trimwork around the ankles and knees.

Well, I went to the Hardware store today and found a cheap plastic fitting. I cut it in half and glued it over the hips. It makes it look more bulky, more armored, and hides the ping pong ball.

Honestly I can never really say anything bad about any titan someone scratch-builds that looks remotely like the artwork. Anyone who badmouths it isn't really going out and making their OWN, so what can they really say? They both look great. Stomp your enemies flat!

Time to add a little detailing. The questions is: How many skulls are too many skulls? I want to put one on his chest and groin, but would putting two more on his shins be too much? Also I was thinking of adding some hoses to his face. Basically two ribgbed hoses one each cheek running down to the sides of his chest. Opinions?

Skulls placed here and there are quite easy to add until it's too late. If you want lots maybe add lots of smaller ones together (see sections of the 40K buildings). On the other hand varying them could work - some 'normal', some adeptus mechanicus, maybe an extra eagle here and there rather than a skull. Another idea would be to have a few of them showing battle damage - if they are all the same design this could add enough variety to get them to blend in rather than looking like mass produced bits stuck on.
good luck! Building things like this is not easy, well done so far

Well, I've been finishing building the other arm, adding bits, and painting the legs. I just took this picture, and the paint is still wet. It is the basic color scheme, but isn't finished yet.

It's a little smaller than I'd make it, but at least it's not rediculously oversized (like the gamesday warlords that were mentioned). Good work, massive necro notwithstanding.

As a general rule, there is no "threadnomancy" in the Painting and Modeling forums.
Sometimes, projects just really do take that long to complete.
Or even update.
Having said that, sometimes a PM might be a bit more appropriate.
Just sayin'...

For a scratch build model, it's great, but some simple things could really help; like breaking up those big flat spaces. the larger a plain area is, the worse it looks, so if you could find a way to make the legs less of a box that would be ideal, but overall I like it for a first time attempt : )
