OOC: I'm not so sure, I'd quite like to continue. If everyone else is unable to continue however, I'd be happy to stop for the week. I would prefer to continue though.

I've just read the 'reinforcement' story post, and, if you don't mind me saying this, I think you should change it slightly, as tyranids are viewed as an extremely serious threat, and would warrant a big response, as well as obscuring all coms due to SitW. Also, due to the nature of the Imperium, Tithes would not be monthly, or even yearly, they would most likely be paid every ten years (this is nitpicking, but I do have a reason).

If you change the post to make it 4 years ago when the planet stopped paying taxes due to corrupt governing. This would have happened just after the Genestealer Infestation, and provides the CSM with a background reason to be there: the corrupt government turned to nurgle to combat the genestealers. This went unnoticed by the Red scorpions.

So, to sum it up in a DLS (I wish) timeline fashion:

8.462.535.M41: A Genestealer Cult reveals itself in Naruke South, several PDF regiments are mobilized in the defence of the City, as well as the Planets Guard Regiments. The planets high government, already quite corrupt, turns to Nurgle to help fight the genestealers.

7.481.535.M41: A group of dissident polititians who were against turning to Nurgle form an alliance with a group of Eldar Pathfinders from Craftworld Ulthwe, who are investigating a mysterious artifact on the planet, as well as combating Nurgle's forces, who they have a millenia old grudge against. The Eldar help the dissidents construct a Psycic distress beacon (the circular room) which is intercepted by a company of Red Scorpions who are on patrol in the area, and Commissar Nikev.

7.553.535.M41: The main group of corrupt polititians discovers the dissident group, and with the help of Nurgle, kills them all, accidentaly disrupting the mysterious device, causing the whole of Naruke South to be trapped in time bubble, which is 5 days ahead of the rest of the world. No-one can enter or leave the time bubble at this time. The Device teleports itself to a 'safe' place underneath a ruin near Naruke west, which is currently unnaffected.

7.556.535.M41: Nurgle's forces turn on their former 'allies', as well as the entire city, turning everyone into plaugebearing zombies. This inadvertantly kills off all the Genestealers in naruke south, although they still have a large presence in Naruke's Capital, Navar. The rest of the planet is unaware of the events, and the government in Navar is still 'allied' with Nurgle, who are working on killing the Genestealers there. The planets Tithe of Exactis Tertius is not paid.

3.328.536.M41: A company of Red Scorpions Marines arrive in-system, causing what remains of the government to begin a large cover-up scheme, hiding all evidence of their alleigance with Nurgle.

3.346.536.M41: The Red Scorpions make planetfall, and purge the remaining genestealers from the planet, with the help of a contingient of Mechanium they have with them. They are unable to penetrate the time lock surrounding Naruke South, so place the entire area in quarantine. The process of constructing a base for the Mechanium begins on Naruke II's Moon. The planet enjoys relative peace. Some Tech-Priests become hosts for genestealers.

4.759.580.M41: Commisar Nikev arrives on the planet, with a small contingent of Nucian Guardsmen.

8.***.585.M41: The Shadow in the Warp blocks all outgoing communications from the system, system wide communication is still possible however, and the planet remains unaware of the danger. The Officio Administorium becomes aware of the planets lack of taxes, and tries to contact the planet.

5.472.590.M41: At this time, the underground forces of Nurgle, who have remained undetected, discover the Device hidden near Naruke West, and begin experiments on it. The Mecanicum, which by now is roughly 50% under Genestealer control, learns of the existence of the device, and secretly begins hunting for it.

4.500.591.M41: The Officio administorium fails to make contact with Naruke II, due to the shadow in the warp, and dispatches a force to investigate why it has not been paying taxes.

4.936.592.M41: While travelling towards a mission set for him by Inquisitor Orianus Augustus, Novitiate Jansen Ragnar arrives on planet, while waiting for the freigter he was travelling on to be re-stocked and re-fueled. At roughly the same time, a rouge blood angel marine arrives on planet.

6.104.593.M41: A splinter fleet of Hive Fleet Leviathan arrives and takes control of the Mechanium Moon. The Mechanium keeps this secret from the rest of the planet, with difficulty. The red scorpions, however, detect the fleet and begins preparations, as does Jansen Ragnar.

3.107.593.M41: The Tyranids arrive on planet, and take Naruke East. Jansen Ragnar sets off the Device, after beating a load of Genstealers, and is teleported to Naruke South, along with a group of Guardsmen under the command of Commisar Nikev, who is in the area. The Time Bubble is weakened, and people can now enter and Leave Naruke south. The Forces of Nurgle begin to spill out, and the Red Scorpions discover the Governments Treachery.

I think that ties everything up nicely,
The rest is yet to happen.

As Salen moved among the rubble where he had last seen brother Mathius, As he rounded the corner of a building he saw Mathius in all his glory fighting off what looked like a giant with every gift of nurgle that could be conceived.

As he charged foward shouting litanies of hate and informing his brothers of the threat he watched from a distance that seemed to keep growing as he saw Mathius fight as bravely as any brother could have fought against such a foe.

As Mathius fought against this daemon giant, Salen charged forward knowing that he would be full well be too late to assist Mathius, He had already seen that Mathius had taken a grievous wound to the left leg just above the knee which was already clotted.

Mathius and the Daemon fought on a slightly raised area of road that had risen from an earthquaker shell near by, the Daemon struck out at Mathius who ducked low and lost his balance on his bad leg and with that slight opening the daemon took advantage of the opening and brought the full weight of a leman russ battle tank in weight down on Mathius.

Salen knew that Astartes were durable but with a hit like that there would be little chance left of Mathius surviving.

Salen shouted out a litany of hate and a small prayer for his brother that had fallen in battle against such a foe. As his other battle brothers came around the corner and brought their holy bolters to sight they opened fire screaming hate filled the open air and was almost as loud as the sound of the bolters themselves.

The daemon was under extreme fire and flesh was being shredded off almost as fast as the flesh was growing back. The amount of fire the daemon was taking was not going to stop it however it was making the beast stop and attempt to gain ground against the onslaught of fire.

As all this was happening Salen slowly approached the daemon crozius in hand and bolt pistol in the other speaking litanies of hate and prayers of protection for his battle brothers.

He opened his vox speakers and yelled to the daemon

++BACK TO THE FOUL WARP FROM WHERE YOU CAME HERETIC++

the daemon looked down at the small figure in comparison to its size raised an arm and brought down expecting to smash this foe into two; however the crozius came up in a flash and the arm of the daemon fell in a blink of an eye. As the daemon raised its stump up in surprise to look at where its arm had been he took his eyes away from the foe, who was now in the air from a jump that would seem impossible to mortal men.

Salen lunged in fury and anger up towards the daemon with his crozius in his hand he brought it down onto the daemons head and sliced deep in the foul tissue where the head had rested.

DIE FOUL SCUM muttered Salen as he jumped off the shoulders of the daemon where he had stood. As he landed he looked to his brothers in his squad.

Brothers there is a large amount of heresy in this city.

The squad moved south east toward what they had thought to be a remaining guard unit that would be holding. After 15 minutes of battle formation moving they outside microphones picked up what sounded like combat. The squad picked up the pace and as they came upon the back or a bunker they noticed that in front of the bunker there was a shrinking horde of nurgle daemons. As the squad approached the rear of the bunker Salen decided that the men in the bunker had to be of pure of soul.

But about your timeline with the Eldar. Would they be making a return? or are they gone for good?

I've fixed the Nucian bit, and according to the timeline, you weren't with the Sms, you just happened to intercept the psycic distress beacon at the same time as them. I was envisaging that as the request to the meeting you mentioned in your sign up post. The distress siginal would have asked to meet up to help liberate the world, and also explains why Shas'Os SMs went to the Ruins, they were the ones chosen to meet up with the Dissidents. Not with your men, although the siginal was so vague it was taken to mean you. They otherwise have no reason for being there.

In slightly clearer terms, the message was an Invitation to a meeting. It was very vague and didn't mention nurgle's forces, or anything else except for the fact the planet was in grave danger. It was so vague in fact, that the shas's space marines thought it was you they were supposed to meet, and vice versa. (thats the impression I got from your posts at least.)

I'll leave the eldar bit up to klawz, he can decide whether they will be coming back.

EDIT: Just re-read the thread, and noticed your bit about eldar, in that case, I'll try to continue them according to your wishes. Would it be alright if we used eldar from Craftword Saldo-Hann (my Saim-hann offshoot with no avatar and less bikes, the colour scheme can be found in my gallery)? Or did you have another craftworld in mind?

I was going to use the Craftworld Ulthwe because it is said that the eldar god Isha is held hostage by Nurgle and I had thought of a whole story to involve my home planet being attacked by Nurgle and the Eldar saving us and us joining them in their quest to save Isha(As for breaking from the Imperium they pretty much left us to die, Eldar saved us, we pretend to be with the Imperium but secretly work with the eldar. But......I may just have them come to the rescue and save the characters that I've already posted in the story thread that I typed, but you can definetly add the Saim-Hann.

Why does Nikev have to become head Commissar? He isn't even supposed to be there as, according to the timeline - the only reason he is there is due to his picking up the distress siginal.

There will be a whole load of Tax collectors turning up in a minute - I haven't specified what they are but they're probably Guardsmen. This force would most likely include a Commissar or two, so you can use one of them. There is also Viking's character.

If no-one else volunteers, I could RP the Cadian 172nd who are coming to 'persuade' the planet to hand over their tithe.

Standard Imperial Procedure would be to replace/instigate a new government after a Tax collecting force arrives on the planet. It would depose the current government and either elect a new one from within the wealthy families of the planet, or place a high ranking member of the deposing force in government.

Commissar Nikev is breaking the rules anyway by commanding a regiment from his homeworld - fluffstorically Commissars are always assigned to different regiments than thier own.

There is a way round this - as your Regiment is 'missing' (read 'forgotten about') in the eyes of the Administorium, you could invent a background explaining how you came to command the Regiment.

For instance:
Alledgedly, most commissars are the orphaned sons of high ranking officers of Regiments sent to train at the Scholastica Progenium. You could say that your character was the son of the Commander of the Nucian Guard, who was killed when you were 4 weeks old when the Forces of Nurgle attacked Nucia. You survived the attack and secretly escaped off world - along with a regiment of Nucians and a Commissar (trained in the usual way), who became your Mentor and taught you everything you know about commanding men and is the reason you do not summarily execute. He was then killed in a battle against more Nurglings, leaving you to inherit his title and the command of your regiment, as well as a lifelong hate for Nurgle. Your regiment now roams where it will, fighting the enemies of the Imperium at every turn, and assisting those it can, setting up your main base of operations around the planet Rigant. Orks under the command of the Overfiend of Octarius attack, but you are rescued by Eldar from Craftworld Ulthwe. In return, they ask you for aid in helping them resue Isha. While searching clues for one of the Artifacts known as 'Isha's Tears', you picked up a distress siginal coming from the Planet Naruke II, inviting you to a meeting and asking for immediate military aid, which you decide to investigate.

As you are technically dead in official records, only those who have an extensive knowledge of those records could possibly know you are not supposed to exist.

Feel free to make up your own backstory if you want, but I think that one would make a great story - if it was fleshed out a bit.

If you meant that Jansen should command the Cadians coming to 'investigate' the lack of taxes, he won't - I'll RP them as an entirely seperate group of characters.

Hot damn Man you are AMAZING at creating stories....But I've already made my back story.

Nucia is a planet that has kept its government in a Monarchy style since its beginning. We are ruled by a single female who we simply refer to as Our Lady. She is the single most important person on our planet. Any man, woman, or child would gladly throw down their lives to keep her safe. For without her Nucia is nothing. She is a powerful psychic that is linked to every citizen in mind. She can feel our pain and knows our emotions. Thus is she were ever harmed, Killed, Upset we would all feel her pain and work to making her happy again. Being a Medieval styled world the prince's main duty and soul purpose is to keep Our Lady safe from harm with his personal Veteran Army(although this army never leaves home planet unless they are traveling with Our Lady). We adorn more of a medieval age appearance in buildings and clothing although it has all been converted to adapt to this futuristic era. Although we are a human world we secretly work with the Eldar of Ulthwe who have a Web way gate near our home planet for when we need the reinforcements. As to how we help them. One Fine day Radar's picked up the forces of Nurgle heading toward Nucia. Nucia immediately signaled for assistance from the Nearby Imperium forces but all assistance was denied for some reason not given to the Nucians. When the Invasion day began many fell from the foul forces of Nurgle. Nucia's struggle was long and hard as the forces of Nurgle constantly attempted to kill Our Lady and almost succeeded in killing her in her Spire if it were not for Prince Nairo heroic sacrifice holding back the foul forces as Our Lady escaped to her personal Heavily Armoured Valkyrie the Golden Phoenix. Finally when the Planet was close to falling and the Nucian Guard was loosing the Capital from the sky rained down the Eldar of Ulthwe who decimated the Nurgle forces in a surprise attack that saved countless lives from the Forces of Nurgle. With the Forces of Nurgle beaten back Our Lady pledged alliance with the Eldar of Ulthwe and promised to supply them with Nucia's Best fighters to help the Eldar in their quest to save their god Isha. Seeing as Nikev shouldn't even have been on the planet she sent him with his newly founded regiment to fight alongside the Eldar.


~As for Nikev being assigned to Nucia. Mistakes happen all the time in the Administratum(I think thats where they assign and what-not). So its not that hard to believe that someone simply made a mistake and sent him home. Although Nikev didn't know because he was an orphan Our Lady knew because she shares a connection with all Nucians. and knowing that him being there could cause questions which would lead to investigations which could lead to devastating discoveries sent him away. But that whole signal bit you thought up was a great reason for me coming here so I think I'll adopt that thank you ^.^

@ NIkev --- Nah, Arkus, Zindler-nought and three Red Scorpions are just fighting around, killing some nids. I'll RP something later, just got up ATM. Also, dude, use comma's. It's really tiring to read your writing (when in the format you used with the background of your character) without them. It's just read as one long... thing...

Also, I think we'll say that the 'freeze' on the RP is over now.

Also, not sure how this affects anything, but Katavus roleplayed Chaplain Solen going into Naruke South I do believe, which might not be so good. If that does mess the timeline up at all, we could just change it to say he meets up with us and we all together go PWN tehm 'Nids.

Oh, and NIkev, Arkus probably wouldn't care if you got Eldar... we're pretty screwed as it is, and the Eldar are unlikely to come because the Shadow of the Warp will mess them up pretty bad. Also, you can't contact them because... well, the Hive Fleet is in orbit, eating the other planets. I mean, it's pretty safe to say we're probably on the only not-so-consumed planet in the system.

In the last two weeks of the holiday, we're still on the same day. xD

Well as for the Shadow of the warp...the Eldar still have guns you know ^.^ but I didn't know about that thanks for informing me.
Okay I don't know that much about eldar but can't they cloak? I mean wouldn't that be an effective reason for being safe from the tyrannids? Or the Farseer could block out any hint of eldar in the vicinity of the ships they have.

~ Dastardly ~ I asked this earlier but I don't know if you answered or not. But if you wanted cause I'm with a small convoy, you could possibly send a signal and the Rhino catch it and we send a vehicle back. Thats entirely up to you though.

Well, here's the problems people:

NIkev, the shadow of the warp is TEN TIMES worse for eldar than humans! They're a highly psychic race, all Eldar being slightly psychic. If a Farseer tried to use their powers they'd feel even more pain, and probably go insane. So, you've got no way of contacting them and they've got no good reason to come, asides from saving one Commissar. And you know how Eldar feel about 'wasting' Eldar lives.

Even if a Farseer tried, the will of the Hive Mind is much stronger than any Farseer's.

Also, the Administratum fleet/IG will most likely be eaten by giant space gribblies - we could just say they get a distress signal out... but then again --- shadow of the warp! Or maybe they use shuttles or something and some survivors go and get some more marines or summit.

Would it bother anyone if I was to call upon the Eldar of Ulthwe? Of course I am aware this will immediately make me a hostile threat to all Imperials on this planet. =/

Admittedly we need all the help we can get, but I don't think this would work, as the Imperials are about to arrive, and as you say, this would make all the Imperials on the planet hostile towards you. They would arrive at roughly the same time as the Imperials, and most likely start fighting them, which wouldn't be good for us at all...

Now, onto the story post for the Cadian 172nd shock trooper regiment, with armoured support:

The thin, crackling voice of the battlegroups chief Navigator echoed around the bridge of the Vegeance Class Grand Cruiser Zacchaeus, somehow louder than the hissing of steam and the beeping of consoles. For the last hour of Warp time, the Navigators of all 3 ships in the battlegroup had been spouting those same four words over and over, the bandages that were covering thier warp eyes glowing with an unearthly light.

It was true though, the Warp had been unusually quiet as they had gotten closer to their destination, the chittering voices on the edge of hearing that usually accompanied warp travel had been replaced by a silence that was overwhelming, and strangely noticable...

The Admiral of the Zacchaeus, shrugged, and relayed a message to the other ships of the battlegroup - the Cruisers Hammer of Justice and Emperors Retribution, asking for a status report.

<All systems positive on the Hammer, Estimated time till entrance into real space: 5 minutes, 42 seconds.>

+Retribution here, our Warp drive is running at 70%, and the Gellar field is not faring well, recommend decreasing speed to 40 decs+ The Captain of the Emperors retribution sounded worried.

The bridges of all 3 ships jumped into activity, as Red lights began flashing all over the ship. From deep below, in the bowels of the vessel, there came the sound of the broadside batteries being prepped by the servitors and crew.

Nearer the back of the Ship, General Harkan of the Cadian 172nd Shock Troopers paced up and down the lines of men that made up his regiment, resplendant in his parade armour, coloured in the dark red of his regiment. "Men!" He shouted, filling the room with his powerful voice "We came here to take this planet from its corrupt government! It hasn't been paying its taxes! However men, a new threat has arisen - the Vile tyranids are attacking the planet, and eating it! We are going to stop them!" A cheer went up from the listening guardsmen. "Some of us may die, but if we do - we die in glory! We die Heroes deaths! But we shall not die! The Cadian 172nd will live on, to strike fear into the hearts of the Emperors enemies, leaving only bloody ruin in our wake!"

A large screen displaying a map of the planet flickered up onto the wall behind Harkans head, and various arrows began to move across it. "Companies Beta through Zeta (2-6) will deploy around Naruke East - in defense of the local forces, along with Mechanised company Beta. Commando Squads Gamma, and Beta will deploy around Naruke capital to investigate the government, and depose them if neccassary, Commando Squad Omnicron will deploy near Naruke South, and attempt to infiltrate the area and clear out any tyranids nearby. They will be assisted by Omega company. Meanwhile, Companies Theta and Sigma will deploy in Naruke west and north. Upsilon company will deploy at the rear of the tyranid force, and will attempt to carve their way into the centre, where they will find Delta Squad, who have been tasked with taking out the Hive Tyrant, which will be in that area. They will be assisted by Mechanised Company Delta. The ships we are in will attempt to engage the bio-fleet."

You have your orders, now Move Out Men! For the Emperor!

well hey, the admnistratum fleet could be killed but you know what, we'd get a nice show in the sky with all those lasers, failing in trying to extend the lives of the already dead ^.^

Sorry about that, but SitW actually hurts eldar as well. If you wanted to bring in Eldar support it would be quite plausible to have a seperate base on Naruke II for the Eldar, they could come from there. (small army only though).

Anyway, how'd they know where the Hive Tyrant is? They only just arrived and are about to be swamped by a kazillion space bugs.

Also, what hive fleet is this? Lets just say it's a splinter of Leviathen.

Also, everywhere except the capitol has been abandoned pretty much, the Tyranids are swamping it. East is ruins, nothing there but bugs and capillary towers. And gestation pools or w/e you call them. West, well, the Nids ain't got there as far as we know, but we've lost contact....

And with only about 40-50 space marines active on the planet, well...
