Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

If the rumours about the contents in the 5th ed one are true, I wouldnt buy the BFM. The terrain is neat, but thats about it.

I'm mulling that over, actually. I can always use more Gaunts and more Genestealers, and this might be the last chance to get them extra cheap. I might have to keep the shuttle terrain this time, too. I think I've owned about four BfM sets that I broke up and sold.

I have to admit that the shuttle terrain is tempting, but I suppose that there are enough of them floating around that I can always get some on eBay later.

THey should start turning up at Half Price Books (or equivalent cut-rate retailers) soon enough. I've been snapping up 3.5 D&D books there for a while now, those being dumped by the big chain stores in anticipation of 4th ed. D&D.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Interesting... quick sign up for the Vegas GT - aka your last chance to play 4th Ed in this year's circuit!
(and apparently pay a $25 premium for it - but hey, we get fed)

Sweet. Ah, I can't wait until all those skimmer armies disappear and the drab 4th ed. power builds collapse. Time to hit the reset button for all your armies.

heh, I almost wonder if the early release in July is to try and take a hit at the upcoming Legends release for Warmachine at Gencon. [sarcasm]I would have though GW would want to go to a non-company con to show that they are still the big dawg in mini gaming.[/sarcasm]

I would think that the fact that they are still using 4th edition for this GT would make the turnout low. I sure as hell wouldn't want to go back to 4th edition rules after playing 5th for ~55 days or so...

I bet there will also be a lot of confusion as people forget which rule belongs in which edition, especially after playing 5th and then trying to revert back to 4th.

I personally wish they would fudge the "60 days since release" rule for this GT and use the 5th edition rules...

So, looking forward to the 5th edition power builds already? I can't wait 'til I get overrun by 150+ orks or 70+ marines in every game!

I overrun people with orks in 4th edition. 5th changes nothing.

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

Your wish is granted! We will be using 40K 5th Edition at the Vegas GT. One way is by making an exception to the rule, which in this case we will do. We also agree that going back to 4th would be silly that far into it all.

You could just release it a week earlier, then you don't have to make any exceptions. Then again, it would be a logistics nightmare here in the USA, never release a non-picnic item 4th of July Weekend.

I dunno. I know GenCon is a great way to launch a release, but with
my job running September to June I'd rather PP launch sooner.

I think a "40K Grillers Edition Set" would be great fun. The book folds out to form the picnic table, and the templates are used as spatulas.

I like that GW is trying to use the web more effectively, but really this trailer and this counter don't do anything except make me snigger slightly.

I remember back when they re-did Eldar for 3rd edition, when I first saw the new Guardian model I had dreams of little cone-heads for months. When I see this hype-without-content, I roll my eyes and go look for a sandwich.
