Right, with people left and right doing robots, it was inevitable. I´ve started one too!

It will (hopefully) be a counts-as Leman Russ for most in store games, and have house rules for more friendly settings.

Here are some initial piccies. These are of the carapace and head.

Riveting begins. Ahh, riveting, my old nemesis.... But nomore! For i hold the power to make hundreds now, in veeery small size. (cue evil cackle)

Also, feet are progressing.

So basically, after staring at those toes for ages, trying to figure out what to do about them, i came up with an alternative. Using Titan style feet. What do you think?

You liked the initial toes better? I+m having doubts myself, but nothing is glued finally yet.

I like the second version toes better. Maybe they need lip at the bottom of them. I think that would help. So instead of such a drastic flaring of the tow at the bottom, do a slight flair with a lip.

i like the solid toes WAY better. But i like the way the newer toes come from lower down the leg. Could you make the first toes as part of a foot that extends from under the shin armor? The foot could be with plasticard coming off of the lowest joint piece that is behind the shin armor. It would look way mecha.

Wow! This is looking really great!

I'm just wondering if it's too small though. any way we can get a shot of it scaled to a dreadnought or Land raider or something?

I agree that the original feet are better. The toes just look off to me.

Wow, thanks a lot for all the comments guys.

As far as the feet are concerned, i was a bit worried that the "toe style" might be a bit too close to the warhound.

I´ll try and make a foot in the lower down style, and post piccies tomorrow. Will also post a scale pic.

Was going to work on it tonight, but have been threatened and cajoled into going partying instead...

Hey guys, looks like it´s the original feet then! I´ll be working up some sort of solution as to exact placement and design.

Cpl, as far as weapons, i´m thinking Lascannon and a pair of HB´s for regular gaming, but one arm is definately going to be a grabby claw.

I might make something like an inferno cannon so i can use it as a Hellhound as well... Exchangable arms should be no problem.

Well, after i had trouble making rivets on a different project, some friendly people here pointed me in the direction of the wonders known as hole punches.

I found a very small one, about 1mm diameter, and it has been doing marvelously.

So now, when i watch a movie or whatever, i´ll just sit there idly punching rivets. (Wow, never thought i´d need to use that sentence.)

Nice, I've been looking online for one, but the smallest I seem to get is 2mm, which is a little big for a lot of jobs. Great looking model by the way.

Alright, got a foot mockup ready for you foot lovers. comments are welcome, this is obviously before detailing and such, but do you think it needs a lip at the bottom?

Rivets?
Cables?
Other fancy googaws???

Do tell, inspiration is great!

(Btw, I found my holepunch at a local leather store... Apparently they use them in all sizes.)

Okay, haven´t updated in ages, since i ´ve been waiting for inspiration (and FW items) to arrive.

Both of these have now happened, so here´s some news on the project.

I bring you, firepower!

Oh, and i apologize in advance for the poor picture quality. Sadly no good camera access just now. Will try to fix this asap.

As always, feedback is appreciated.

Looking great... and i LOVE the feet!

I like the missile launchers..very battletech. Though i would be pretty nervous about using the copula.

If this is going to be a Russ what are you going to use as a battle cannon?

Okay, that cupola remark almost ruined my keyboard, there´s soda on my table now....

I´ve been figuring that since the guys i mostly play with are pretty forgiving wysiwyg wise, we´ll just agree that the missile pods are the BC...

And ofc, for inhouse game, it will be using VDR rules, much more fun, even if it is more expensive.

Thats great, You've inspired me to make one of my own. I assume theyre defiler legs, with lots of whirlwind parts, and a sentinel body?

Dont forget to paint it and show us, its incredibly rare to see a 40k scale Knight, let alone one painted. I personally never have, so congratulations!

It´s made up of defiler legs, whirlwind parts, a FW whirlwind launcher, more FW stuff will be added, and yes, a sentinel body for the head.

The sentinel body has been widened, mainly to make room for the cupola.

However following Ender´s remark i may have to find another solution for the commander. Don´t want to have his head lopped off by a rocket now...

FWIW, much easier way to make rivets than with a punch, is to buy styrene rod in the size you want, and just cut off the thickness of rivet you want.

Better still, you can buy hex shaped rod, and cut out bolt heads. Great for orks.

If you're feeling very daring, you can even cut a hex, and then put a smalle diameter circular rod in that, to make it look like a bolt shaft is sticking out throught the armor, and then a nut has been screwed on. A very, crude, orky way of doing things.

That looks amazing, and its based on a imperial sentinel am i right?

That looks perfect for apocolayse matches, and could be a mini-titan prodotype.

As i said above, it still would look amazing.

How are you going to paint it?

Nice work, quite a cool build. The widdened defiler legs are key for me, gives it some real stompers to stand on.
