OK, this is a rough idea of what I'm planning. It's very basic at the moment so room to change and is based on models I currently have (in the building stage) and there's a few points left over for buying wargear etc. Comes to about 1350 at the moment.

The theme is an Adeptus Mechanicus expedition force, acompanied by a techmarine in training with his small bodyguard.

HQ - Command Platoon (5 men) + antitank squad
Troops - Infantry platoon - 5man Hq, 2 X 10man squads
- Space marine combat squad (l/c, vet sarg with pw/pf?) - will be joined by techmarine with signum - reroll l/c misses
Elites - 2X enginseers, 1 with 4servitors, other to acompany HQ
- 10 X hardend veterans (Frag + flamer)
- SM Techmarine with Servo Harness (I think this is under the right section but HQ has a slot left just in case)
Fast Attack - Hellhound
- Sentinal with LC
Heavy Support - leman Russ battle tank
- " demolisher

comments? I'm going for an army that's more fun to play with rather than a super winning army. I'd rather play and loose but have fun rather than have a supper killy army that wins everytime (got to that stage with marines and just got fed up of knowing that certain choices used in a certain way would beat my regular opponents.) The whole army (Apart from the tech priest models) will be converted in some way to show the theme, whether it's as part of the forces milotary presence or working choices, e.g. hardened vets being the main labour with loads of equipment, or demolisher built as an excavation vehicle rather than a tank with turret.

Hmm. It's sort of hard to make comments on lists designed for extremely casual play. You've got the two Codexes in there - as far as I know (which isn't very) allies aren't usually allowed except where explicitly stated in their codex. (Witch Hunters and Daemon Hunters and not much else) Your comments on being able to easily beat your regular opponents and being more concerned with looks than performance sort of deflate the purpose of most list critiques, which are usually to help players who are tired of losing, rather than winning...if you don't really care about your list and your opponent doesn't really care about your list, then how much good is it for somebody else to tell you that lascannons are usually a bad call on sentinels, or that enginseers suck, or whatever other little nugget that doesn't really have any bearing if you choose to ignore a few particular rules and thus aren't concerned with using or abusing them? (not that there's anything wrong with that)

Tangentially, it sounds like an interesting modeling idea. If you take any pictures, WIP or finished, feel free to post them.

When soldiers think, it's called routing.

I hadn't acutally thought about that point.... I guess it is a bit weird asking for advice on a list thats there for asthetics...hmmmmmmm

anyway, I've got a blog going, although modelling is very slow at the moment due to work load and trying to get a house move going. Have a look, will hopefully have some pics of the lascannon squads next week before painting them.

Feel free to comment over there! Hope you enjoy
