Thanks for all the comments everybody, no update today I'm afraid the dragon is still being painted. He will be finished next weekend as thats the deadline for the painting comp, he's really taking ages to paint it will be a month next weekend.

I must admit I didn't do any painting yesterday as I went to a gaming day. The main events were a big 30k and 40k game and a few pick up games. The amount of resin in the 30k game was quite amazing the biggest model was a Reaver and then it went down to a few warhounds and an amazing number of 30k Super Heavys and flyers, there was a spare table just for the reserve flyers there was that many when I looked over at one point there were four Caestus Assault Rams and about five or six Storm Eagles/Raptors . No pics though as a lot of stuff wasnt painted.

The 40k game didn't have so many huge models, there was an Eldar Revenant which was very sexy other than that there were mostly Imperial Knights and guard tanks like the Shadowsword.

I didn't play in that game either

No I started playing a 2vs2 game of Star wars Armada to fill in a place, first time I've played must admit I don't really think its my cup of tea. In the afternoon I played my first two games of X-Wing and I've fallen in love with it. It's such a great game very easy to pick up and theres loads of forward planning involved to get your ships into the right positions to take on the enemy. I came away with loads more upgrades and ship combinations I want to try out. I won the first game and the other guy won the second, we both had an excellent time.

I was running Imperials both games as that's all I had, I was using the following at 100 points.

Carnor Jax (Tie Interceptor)
Targeting Computer

Black Eight Squadron Pilot (Tie Punisher)
Ion Bombs

Howlrunner (Tie Fighter)

Winged Gundark (Tie Fighter)
Twin Ion Engine

Academy Pilot (Tie Fighter)
Twin Ion Engine

Next time I'm going to try a second Tie Interceptor as the extra attack dice really makes a difference and give my punisher some missiles and try out the cluster bombs.

Its all very exciting I really want to paint a Firespray in Kath Scarlet's colours at some point as well

Next update will contain a painted model, there's not much more to go

Be careful GiraffeX, Xwing is a dark hole with easy prepainted mini's. You think, oh its only $15, next thing you know you have bought enough ships to have had purchased a knight or two and your other hobbies have all been put on hold and you and your friends have all been sucked into the depths of the simple game.

Go in with a plan GiraffeX, then GET OUT.

I don't need to worry that much as I don't have any friends (excluding friends on the net).

My weakness is Darklands, I just cant help myself. I'm in for eight different armies so far that I have miniatures for (or waiting for), which will become nine in the next few months...

And I've finished Parawn from Darklands.

Parawn, Draigllai of Idris from the kingdom of Brythoniaid

Such a cool model but very hard to capture on camera due to his size. I've added Annik in the last pic for a size comparison.

Next up something smaller I think

It's Ysians from Darklands next up on my painting table, I think Annik needs some support..

That is awesome! Only thing that detracts in my opinion is the pose which looks a bit precarious, but that may well just be the angle of the pics, fantastic paintwork!

Cheers Para

The pose should lean slightly more forward but I didn't think it looked right so slightly adjusted it, the rest you cant change as that's where the parts fit together.

It doesn't fit where I normally take my pictures so that could be something else as the pictures aren't front on.

Another update for you this weekend, I started and finished this wee doggy yesterday.

Akkaz, Hound-Aberrant

I was going to start on my Ysian foot troops today but I worked longer than expected last night and it knocked it out of me today so I did a bit of assembly instead, I started my Ghoul unit for KoW. This is the basic unit layout the spare ghouls will be used for Frostgrave.

I also had a dig round for something to paint for February's painting contest and came across this dog from Malifaux, should be quite quick to paint up not sure on colours yet.

In other news some of the Batman miniatures are going direct only so I put in an order for Harley Quinn and the Riddler which were the only ones that I'm missing that I wanted, I may have ordered more than them while I was looking around but I'll show you them when they turn up

What I found while painting him that was really freaky is that all the leather armour is nailed onto his flesh.

The dragon is fantastic and must be huge. The two headed dog is a nasty piece of work isn't he. Great paint job, really captures how creepy the model is.

Cheers archer he is huge he filled up my entire painting area, the few models that were on it kept being knocked over while I was painting him. I really like the dog he came out nicely considering how quick he was to paint.

A small update today from the weekend well Saturday.

I finished painting two Axe Drunes for Darklands, really happy with how these guys came out. I wanted to try something a bit different for their skin tone, more of a weathered look.

I also finished putting the rest of my Mantic ghouls together this time for Frostgrave, these are my first minis for the game as part of this years goal.

In other new I realised that this coming Sunday will be the mark of fifth dakka birthday, really scary how time flies past, a little trip back down memory lane reveals my first mini that I painted all those years ago for my Thousand Sons.

And I'm still mostly getting the same painting vote scores as back then in the gallery for the models I'm painting now with a few exceptions, I dont really understand that but never mind

I was going to wait and mention it next weekend but would have most likely have forgotten

Sunday consisted of trying out my 40k army for a tournament in a few weeks time, some dice were rolled but no pictures taken. But then it was against myself and I did loose to a combined army of Mantis Warriors and Space Wolves. Yeah so that bodes well for the tournament. It's only one cad so I was up against it playing two in my practice game but wanted to try the two forces together, Sicarans and Thunderwolves are a lethal combination.

I'll be taking my Death Guard led by Huron will be interesting as the heldetta will be having a day out, not used that in a very long time.

The overall look on the axe men is great. But those stitched cloaks are excellent. Really dig the base decorations as well. I think the skin works pretty well also. A nice subtle difference to the usual freshly washed we often get on most models showing a bit of flesh.
