Think I'll start putting all my future work on my Necrons in this single topic. To start it off, a picture that came out much better than I had thought it would, though the project clearly has a ways yet to go. Makes a nice teaser though.

That's what monoliths look like when my boyz are done with them, upside down and in bits!
On a more serious note, that looks like it could be something really cool, I admire you for trying to do something different with necrons, it's not that often you see it.

Probably all the further I'll get today, what with Adult Swim coming on and all. I'm working on some translucent green plugs/panels to fill in the open slots. I'll need to pick up some 1mm thickness card to add some raised details on the back side, as it is otherwise much to plain.
Still not decided which of the two "hearts" I want to use, the cool one, or the less expensive. $8 each compared to $1 each.

One more vote for the $8 one. This is shaping up to be a fine centerpiece, it's worth going the extra mile
Also, I dig the upside down style, honestly haven't seen that done yet. Slick idea.

I'm strangely confused and frightened by what you're trying to do with your monolith. Consequently, I imagine it will wind up being a pretty awesome conversion.

Just to clear up anyone's confusion Aduro, are you making an illuminated monolith? I'm working on my scratch built version and might just steal some of your thunder here (if you don't mind, I believe in credit where credit's due, btw) and grab some florescent plastic and LED's.

Monolith project is a bit delayed, waiting for a paycheck so I can get some supplies I want for it. Not planning on illuminating it however. I could mind you, it would just mess with how I want to build the base, so I'm not messing with it.
In the meantime, lack of cash doesn't stop me from acquiring more Warhammer stuff since I get most all of that on store cred. Here's my version of the oft imitated jump troop style Destroyer.

Yeah, didn't really like the feet either. It's a method I rather like to make Marines taller, but I guess it doesn't work out as well on Necrons. I de-hightopped him and put in a wire feed to his gun from his spine.

Been looking at this guy on the shelf there, and decided I just didn't like how the wings went on well enough. They just looked too much like they were simply stuck on, and not really part of him. I decided to take em off, and rethink how meshed. What I came up with was to remove the shoulder blades from the torso, and make the wings as larger shoulder blades. When they're in the idle position shown here, they'll be resting further up/back on his shoulders. When the wings lift into flight position, they'll slide forward and end up at almost the exact same spot as normal. I think they looks much better, and more functional in design than before.
Minor other addition. As I was filling the socket where the arm normally connects to the gun, I noticed a small bit of the gause rifle I cut down to make his arms. It makes a perfect fit to fill in that blank spot there.
I'm going to give it a day or so to decide if there's anything else I think I don't like or can improve on, otherwise I think this is a very workable prototype and will begin converting over my others to this version.

Alright. Got a paycheck, spent time with visiting family, cleaned the house (a little). Time to get back to work on the Monolith! Reason I stopped, and needed to wait for money to buy more parts, was I realized it was probably a good idea to get the base done and build the thing around that, than try to figure out how to add in in afterward. Had to remove some of what I had already done to put the supports in, and the base a was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Not in the mere construction of it, but in trying to get everything to come out reasonably level and even. It's something I don't usually have to worry about and turned out to be rather frustrating and thus it was all I managed to get done today.
The entirety of the spokes and center rod will be painted black, and they're not really there you and stuff. That's not the orb I'm going to be using, it's just there so you know what the idea is. While a good ways to go yet, I do like this picture because it gives a much better idea of what I'm hoping to accomplish with this thing.
