I everyone, since i got back into the hobby this year ive been doing little bits on several topics so not to get bored.

Me likey. Once agin I am impressed with others' ability to paint these little toy soldiers. I usually glance over marines but something about the paint scheme/execution catches my eye. Wunderbar!

The eyes are a bit 'starey', have you thought about making the pupils slightly larger so there is less white showing?

I agree especially on the last one of my command squad. In the "flesh" they look better, but im not good enough to do better - i hate the eyes

Not yet! Ive started a terminator squad and want to get all the footsloggers done before the new codex comes out and then get drop pods and the new land raider!

All of those look great! The detailing of the marines is awesome and that Ogre looks great as well.

As a bit of a side note I don't think I have ever seen the skin color of a space marine be anything other than white. GW is racist.

Salamanders have a few black fellas in there if you look in Codex Armageddon. I won't go into the whole 'super-human race of genetically pure warriors with near identical characteristics crushing those different to them whilst sporting a two-headed eagle insignia' thing, it's far too tedious to bother with...

On topic, really top work, especially the flames, really crisp. Super!

I suppose that, in real life, the flames look better than in these pics but there's two things about them that put me off;
1) They could use a tad more blending so the different colors aren't SO blatant.

2) You made a very common mistake with the flame colors. Fire is hottest at it's base, ergo, lighter colors at the bottom, darker as it rises and cools.

Great work on the green and that gold looks very rich. Kudos on these minis!

Thanks for the comments,

1) yep thats the problem with using digital backs on Hasselblad cameras

2) They are space flames that go the opposite way to human flames

I know its backwards but for some reason on minis i always feel it looks better this way round, maybe its a human thing that heaver ie darker things always look better on the bottom???

All those models look great, I particularly love the nice clean paint job on the sallies. I also think the Troll looks great, I'm not really a fan of LotR but these have inspired me, might have to go pick up the new Troll kit myself

Its really inspired me to push on with this army, ive just ordered the spearhead box set of my local independent store and he gave me 10% off
