So guys as some of you know ive been trying to lay my hands on some prets. Tonight i finally got some (praise the Emperor).
I got :
* 15 troopers with lasguns
* 1 standard bearer
* 1 sergeant
* 1 lieutenant
* 1 casualty
* 1 missle launcher (requires gluing to firer) & loader
* 1 trooper with melta-gun
* 1 trooper with flamer
* 1 trooper with grenade launcher
* 1 mortar & crew
* 1 heavy bolter & crew
* 1 autocannon & crew (gunner requires gluing)
* 1 lascannon (requires assembly) & crew

The pics are from ebay so im not sure how good they are.

Im planning to make this a 1500pt army list Ill post the list tomorrow. Any tips or ideas would be warmly welcomed.

since pret models are direct resculpts of Mordians, perhaps a platoon of mordians can fill in, if you are finding it tough to lay your hands on the praetorian guard...

Watch Zulu at least a fawsand toimes!

Thanks for that i was thinking about a unit of Mordians as stormtroopers. Since the British regiments in Zululand had some Swiss merceneries fighting with them.

Seriously though, the older Imperial Guard models have so much character, it's a joy to
see someone working on them. I have a sizeable amount of Tallarns myself, and I don't
regret getting them one bit, even if I'm currently not working on them.

Thanks everyone. Those heads are very nice RazorMind I may put them on Mordians. Ill fine tune my list now and post it later this evening.

OK guys time for a small update.

I had made a list but can't find it so if you have any ideas? Though not that much infantry please. Also I got the DVD version of Zulu.

Sorry for that little I can't do anything till I get the models.

I use Mordians as Conscripts (haven't earned the Pith Helmet yet) and in 5th edition, Consripts can be used to screen again.

Praetorian RR's are a must, very fluffy and look great on the battlefield with little effort to convert (or you can use Old Glory 25 mm British Lancers).

I put Fantasy Battle wagon wheels on all my HW's as well

Ive got an explorers Pith helmet the one with a flatish top but there some nice Millitry ones on Ebay.

Ive been working on a scrstchbuild Gattling gun. Using the old sentinel gun. But ive been trying to take pics but it just doesenz work. ETREMLY frustating. PLease help!!!

My tank scheme is fairly simple, Black Undercoat -> Shadow Grey -> Black Wash -> Codex Grey -> Fortress Grey Highlight

How do you mean it just does'nt work? Taking pics or the conversion?

I built mine using Black Tree Design "Zulu Wars" minis









I'm building a railway gun type earthshaker for them too - complete with sentinel loader!

The hardest part with Praetorians to get right are the vehicles.

Do you give them a colour of British racing green for a 30's feel.

Do you try and make them steampunk with wood and brass.

Or cover them with the union flag imagery.

Or yellow and black checquer HMS Victory style.

Each can work. It is a hard decision to get right, and a very easy one to get wrong.

Thanks for all the tips guys. Ive been mulling this vehicle thing about. (Daydreaming during maths.) Ive thought about Sentinels in Racing Green, to represent themselfs trying to outdo one another. But I may go with Steampunk or the Col.'s Way.

Ive ordered a Lascannon of ebay too . Because these blasted(English aristrocrats voice) holiday weekends I wont be getting Zulu soon

Please post 1000-1500 list ideas for moi.

UPDATE:

I Still dont have my minis! (or ZULU).I've nearly finoshed my Gattling Gun. I had a look on the Web and found some prets painted green and yellow, I think my Cavarly units and tank crew, Heavy wep. Crews will be painted like that. I also saw a noce conversion, the normal IG commander model from the HQ box set and a pith helmet head.

As a new player to 40k, I am puzzled as GW still doesn't release some of these older model types. They have so much character, cadians are nice but... I love how these pretorians look, vahallans, etc there are some way cool units they describe in the ig codex. Good luck with this army!

Expensive yes but cool none the less.

Theres some cheap steam tanks on ebay. If i can get the funds together..... Ill get two, maybe?

Extremly angry at th Phalanx Forum for slagging of Bloood Ravens. The most hounrable chapter in mho. I am a player and love them deeply. I do not aree with insulting other armies. How woul you llike it if some one called the IF somthinh bad.

Sorry about this rant. I shoulden't really get angry about it, it's just...i don't stand on insulting diffrent armies or gaming systems.
