Featuring Nids and Tau. And possibly SM's and guard at some point.
First off, a winged hive tyrant. Ignore the paintjob, it'll all be redone.

Here's what the thing looks like at the moment:

The wings are taken from the Balrog. My friend helped me out with attaching them - clipped off the front two vents, then we got them pinned and greenstuffed.

I'm very happy with the base - it's mostly card. It'll be pinned to it when the painting's done.

I'm currently in the process of pinning the arms on.

Just got one left to do, but I've got to greenstuff the joint I repositioned first.

Not far off being able to start on the painting!

So far so good ^_^.

How are you planning to lug that big guy around o.o?

BTW, if this is going to be a regularly updated thread, I'll move it on over to P&M Blogs for a better fit. Lemme know!

Horrific Hive Tyrant

London (work) / Pompey (live, from time to time)

looks ace, love the pose aswell, looks like its just spotted a target.

then again, when he looks at an IG army it must seem like loads of little happy meals running about

and as grey brought up, transport may be a problem due to its wing span.
with my old one i made a piece of carapace that fitted over its origional one with pins.
the carapace and wings could then be attatched and taken off as i needed them.

Next, a broadside battlesuit weapons swap.

I'm nearly done with this guy. I started with one built in the conventional fashion.

First off I took off the missile arms, and the railguns. The missile arms, clipped down (and with a little filing), fit very well into the grooves on the jetpack.
I also cut down the neck (thought it looked better).

As the railguns wouldn't have been able to fit with the jetpack still intact, most of that had to go.
I actually split the jetpack into its two halves first (to make it easier to cut through with only a scalpel), this had the side effect of giving me some nice bits.

One half of the removed section was used to cover the hole in the bottom of the pack, the other went into forming part of a stabilisation system,
along with a length of guitar wire and some more greenstuff.

All I need to do at the moment is attach the other piece of wire, and get the sucker painted. Only less crappy than last time.

...hive tyrants are scary.

Regarding transport - I'll probably have to fashion the thing it's own box if I wanna move it. Big enough tupperware and a crapton of foam should solve it.
Thanks for the comments guys

The second cable has been attached and the greenstuff applied.
Just goes to show what practice and planning can do for quality!

That said, a proper sculpting tool wouldn't go amiss.

Might need a little bit more touching up, but it's mostly done.

Does look a little bit cool though.

Now I just need to go and fix the dozens of imperfections close scrutiny reveals.
That and find some better files, so I can get the mould lines off the metal parts of the hive tyrant >_<

I think I'm gonna paint "Anime Physics" in Tau on the railguns

Also that's what the repulsors on the bottom are for.

This week: a little of everything!

First up, Captain Carl of the Face Punchers. And what better weapon for a Face Puncher than a power fist? And a bonus storm bolter, mainly because it fit on the other arm quite well.

You may remember these unfortunate victims of SSS* from an earlier thread. Unfortunately, no cure has yet been found. The research continues.

But in happier news, the Adeptus Mechanicus has begun rolling out it's new wave of infantry support weapons, described as "bulkier and more unwieldy than ever".

Suddenly, Gaunts.

I think the flying base went on first, and the rubble was added after.

A strangleweb test (Adrenal gland, deathspitter, warrior venom cannon)

And a spike rifle, with bonus Targetter Tendrilâ„¢ (Devourer parts, deathspitter, flesh hooks)

But before I go, I leave you with a tale...

"Right, ready...and...fire!"

"Hey! Get outta the way, there's a..."
BLAM!

"Augh, my face! Damnit man, what the hell is your problem?!"

"Ah, crap."

So I've been working on some battlesuits.

The arms were lengthened with sprue and grey stuff, the legs were lengthened with plasma rifles. Still need to do some grey stuff work on this one.

The design of this gun was unashamedly nicked from this thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/55080.page

There's also this fellow:

I much prefer the look of the flamer like this. No need for additional parts.

The longer legs definitely make the first suit stand out.

And for my next trick, I'll be converting (well, reposing and repainting mainly) Halo Actionclix into SM Devastators. See you in another four months.

Your Tau models are cool. I like the broadside the best (I <3 railguns). Has the final paint job been completed yet or you been busy with other things?

Hmm, just over one month. I'm early.

Anyway, I have here a sergeant for an as-yet-incomplete SM devastator squad. A fully painted one no less!

Does this count as truescale?

For the Tau? Default Tau brown, as seen on the broadside. Only much less crappy.

What, I like the default scheme!

I really like those conversions of those battlesuits (finally, tau models that look nice...).
Also, the missile launcher thing was hilarious...

Here's a paint update on the battlesuits. Haven't started on the plasma rifle suit yet (need to reattach the feet)

Flamersuit was originally going to be jet black, but I couldn't get the highlighting to look any good. I'm pretty happy with the grey though, and it works just as well from a fluff standpoint (building clearance/psychological warfare suit).

Broadside is looking good! I am glad that you really cleaned up the paint job on it as everything looks to nicely fit in the lines and has a clean even coat.

I LOVE your spike rifle conversion on the guant. Complete props!
