This is the first mini from my new Chaos army. It will be a combined effort between my Daemons and Marines, and will likely come to around 5000pts by the end.

Comments and advice welcomed .

the standard marines are made from a mixture of Imperial Marine, Chaos Marine and Possessed parts.

1 squad of standard CSM's on the go at the moment. Lord, and various other bits and bobs to follow...

Looks like a case of 'hot foot'!

Seriously though, many attempts at 'dynamic' (especially by GW) come off as more 'silly' than 'dynamic'.

Put a rock or something under the foot that he's got in the air, I think that would make it look a lot better.

Right now he's got that "I shouldn't have had that last beer" look

thats a good idea actually. it'll give him that "locked and loaded" kinda feel. thanks a lot.

That or he's about to urinate on something.

It might be something to detach his head and reattach it so that his eyeline is level. That'll go some way to making him look dynamic rather than under the influence of his own personal gravity (which, admittedly, would be a cool chaos mutation).

Tip from the top:

Attach the head last!
That way you can always make him look like he is looking somewhere usefull!

I long ago gave up on any poses that have one foot in the air - they usually look like they're dancing I second Kyvik's suggestion - with something under that foot (a marine helmet or skull?) this model will look really good.

I presume you were wanting omments on the colour scheme - I like it, but worry that it might be a little too purple - I'be be tempted to add another colour (or reuse your existing orange contrast colour) to either the edges or insides of your shoulder pads

well i had a set of 4th edition berzerkers i used for my assault squad. and all of them had the ol foot up position going on. its easy enough to CUT that leg off and reposition it so it looks more natural. as for my assault squad they all look like they are running and or just landing. leaving the legs pointing the way GW made them point always looks off

yeah, thats my plan. something Orky maybe, i have lots of ork bits.
And also i was thinking of adding a second colour to the scheme, but i was thinking along the lines of white, or a very light grey.

I have given up using the legs to create the dynamic pose for the most part myself. I did have some good luck recently combining the new possesed legs with the regular CSM legs but those are the exception.

I instead use the arms and upper torso to convey movement or different poses. The new plastic kits make it easy, all you need to do is shave a new angle onto the shoulder connection and suddenly the arm is doing something completely different. I also swap alot of weapons around, like putting guns into hands that previously held a CCW and vice versa. And I agree with someone above, I put the heads on last so I can make them looking AT something.

right, third time lucky...tried to upload this three times now, so according to the proverb this one will work...

this is maybe my alternate colour scheme for my CSM army. i really dont know which to choose, so i thought i'd upload the other one to get a few views on which one people prefer.
also opinions on what type of metals and skin tones would suit this colour scheme are welcomed. in fact, encouraged cos i really have no idea

I really like the white guards, it makes the model a lot more eye catching and the pose on the third pic is a big step up from the first one, nice work...

the white shoulder pads look good, but i think it needs a wash over it, probsbly something in a red or purple, to tie it in with the rest of the model

The white will probably look fine as is.
It just needs breaking up with some insignia/ decals.
Have you got any ideas for that?
