Random question I know, but from what I remember any official Citadel Miniature can be brought to a GT/official event. Does this include Squats, like if you were to, say, do a 'Counts As' Guard army using Squats?

considering the amount of 'counts as' marine and chaos armies (ie marines counting as chaos and vice versa) i wouldn't see a problem, still i would check with the tournament organizer

I can't quote evidence, but I'm sure counts as squat armies have been at GTs in the last few years. I definitely remember something along those lines.
Really it's no different to old Valhallans as gaurd minis.

If it's a citadel, marauder or forgeworld fig you can use it. It's in the GT rules packet.

Absolutely. Heck, my IG army at Vegas and Baltimore this year was made of old Lizarmen models. Over the years, I've seen several squat model armies, IG, 1K Sons, and even Orks IIRC.

I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed too as long as the army was legal as the army you were mimicking. In poor taste yes, but it definitly should be legal.

I'm sure it would be fine. When they start outlawing OOP models, "The Hobby" dies.

Did you read the latest GW board report about how to increase sales

Sure, I always like to limber up before a GT with some stretches and a few jumping jacks, keeps from dice rolling arm from cramping up.

I don't see why squats wouldn't be allowed.

I think that squats would probably make you too limber.....

Do you think there'd be any arguments concerning the new LOS rules and Squat models?

Can I use LotR dwarfs to represent squats?

Yes. They should be dismissed as the nit-picking they will certainly be. LoS works both ways. If squats can hide behind lower bits of terrain, those pieces also obscure their LoS going out.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I don't get the point of these new LOS rules. Isn't it taken as common sense when some troops are against a wall they crouch?

There is a certain amount of silliness in the new rules, but they have the virtue of being testable and definitive on the tabletop by using a pointer.

My own solution to that issue would be to bring along a gaurdsman or whatever to swap in if it's a problem.

My solution would be to NOT bring along a Guardsman, and to just trace LOS from the stunties as usual. Anyone who claims that someone collected two hundred Squats did so for the purpose of gaining some sort of ill-defined LOS advantage should be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail.

I have a whole damned army of them, and used them at GTs, even winning best presentation.

And yeah, TLOS sucks for them. Its a disadvantage for a shooting army to be short, model-wise, though if they were assault based, you would want them shorter.

Though I find with my squats, since they are no higher than a grot, I don't have to model "cameoline" since they are so low to the ground, and cant see over most windowsills, that the idea of +1 cover due to stature fits perfectly!!
