I just wanted to get an idea as to what people paint their Space Marines as. Please vote in the poll, and if you wish, you can answer in a post (particularly if you have a personal scheme or later-founding codex scheme).

This is partly out of curiosity, but also about non-conformism. If everyone paints their marines as Salamanders, I don't want to end up as just another green marine clone.

"Do you guys know where the fire extinguisher is?"

"You wish to douse His Holy Flame? You skirt heresy brother."

While I don't own any Space Marines myself, my friend collects Black Templars. I've done lots and lots of commissions for him.

They probably have my favorite paint scheme out of any pre-made chapter, especially when you paint the shoulderpads an "aged" brownish white.

Blood Angels, only because they were my first army I did way back in 1990.

If I was new to the game I'd just start a new army, with my own background and use all the Codii for it.

My scheme is my Avatar.

I have always wanted to model with originality. No offense to anyone else but I never liked the idea of painting my stuff to look like a pre-existing army.

If you choose to do your own scheme I promise you will be happy with it. People love my stuff, not because I paint to a really high standard but because its something they've never seen before.

Good luck :-)

My original SMs aren't properly an SM army as I bought them for SF games generally and Space Hulk.

They are painted an allover khaki camouflage colour.

My new army I am currently planning will be a bit more traditional. Their colours are based on a Napoleonic Hussars uniform and have a dark green top, buff legs and a crimson stylised pelisse flying from the left shoulder. Some details (facings and cuffs) will be picked out in another colour as yet undecided but probably yellow.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

my original SM army was the ever dark green Dark Angels, having come back into playing SM after so many years I decided that I didn't want a main chapter paint scheme. So i Picked out the Nova Marines, a Checker of Blue and in my case White, since i didn't like the way the Bleached bone looked, i opted to change it over to Regal blue and white... So slowly my 3rd Company of Nova marines are coming to life.

Legs are Left Skull white, right Regal blue,
Torso and arms, Left Regal blue and right Skull white with a Sunburst yellow hand
Helmets are Sunburst yellow for the tactical squads, Veteran units, termies and Sgt have Blood red helmets
wargear, bags, clips holders are in codex gray.
It looks damn good on the table...all markings are of course painted on since there are no Decals i can use to make the Nova Marine sig...
when i get around to charging my camera i'll get some pic's thrown up...

and yes for anyone paying attention...that paint scheme is in fact flipped from standard Nova Marine paint scheme...let alone the wrong color...but the Chapter has been flying around space i figure the companies that are loose in the Strike cruisers have some freedom to their schemes...

My personal scheme is Midnight Blue armor, bleached bone shoulder pads and mithril silver highlights

Blood Angels are a good chapter if you're looking for something with history and a uncommon color scheme

EDIT: and by Angels, I mean Ravens. Blood Ravens are the way to go

My scheme is white with some blue detailing, in a nod to my other hobby (Costumer - NOT, I repeat, NOT a COSplayer). I'm in the 501st Star Wars group.

It used to get comments like " Oh, you're doing pre-heresy world eaters" then they saw the distinctive Imperial roundel and the realisation would dawn.

I have been collecting spacewolves for the last 5 years or so, painting them and converting them just because I like the concept and the models. Now if they ever release a new codex for them I just might field them.

I called my Army the Omega Marines back when 3rd Ed just came out. before GW released pics of the Omega marines in a black and white color scheme.

It was originally in a Storm Blue base with Red Gore highlights. with boltgun and black added in there.

here is one of my assault marines. I hate painting the metal ones, the paint never looks as good as when it is on plastic.

well my scheme is different then most you will see. Mine are pink with a white crotch and chest plate... They are called the Panthers(painted after the Pink Panther http://www.thegamestime.com/pinkpanther1.jpg). Why did I do this? Cause frankly as much as I like playing space marines I hate painting them. To me they don't have much character between the models so you painted one space marine you have painted them all. At least that is my own personal opinion. No pics of them right now though.

Pink marines FTW!

I have some in pink and black, but they are spikey marines. I also have some rotting spikey marines and purple and gold spikey marines.

My non-spikey marines are tan with crimson trim. They are called the Crimson Skulls, because in the 41st millennium, there are only skulls. I think I would like to paint some Space Wolves, though, because they are vikings that seem to wear Union (the loyal vikings) and Confederate (the cursed vikings) colors.

My Paxmen Chapter were painted Ral Partha Ivory (a bit less yellow and more white than bleached bone) with deep purple kneepads, headstripes and pauldron trim. The chest eagle I painted gold and the eyes red.

Pauldron color determined squad designation: red for tactical, blue for assault, green for heavy, orange for support, gold for command and 1st company. Termies were an awful ivory drybrush over a burgandy base coat... yuck.

I loved them dearly and even though I didn't ink or wash them way back when, they took forever to paint. That Ivory I used took 4-5 coats to get decent coverage and the purple looked almost black if it went on too thickly, which was more often then not.

My newest batch of marines were going to be ultras - my son's choice - but the blue is a tad too dark for the blue boy scouts so I'm going to make them Crimson Fists or a CF successor chapter.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
