Today I was looking over some SoB I picked up a while ago and thought to myself, "these would look good with lavender armor". I then went off (searching the web) to find complementary colors, and figured a gold and dark green. Then I realized that in the event that I actually painted these lavender SoB, they would never see the light of day. Why you ask- Im a 22 year old male, and dont think that lavender SoB quite says anything about me that I would like to broadcast to, well, anyone. Just thought Id share.

Hahah. I'd still field them. Screw what everyone else thinks.

Speaking of that, my Emperor's Children kind of say that I don't give a damn what other people think about how I paint my armies. And actually, it's pretty funny, because of the way they're painted and modeled, quite a few people have come up to me and said "Dude, that's badass". And then I guess they all have an urge to add "...For Emperor's Children", as if they were saving face for calling a pink army cool.

Hahah, and then the designs for my Tyranids' Carapace is based off of the Monarch Butterfly. Surprisingly, no one's given me any crap about it. Probably because they haven't lost to anything but Necrons.

Really, though, if you think a color scheme is cool, and you're worried about what other people are gonna think about it so much that you refuse to do it, then you probably let people's opinions control your life and actions far too much for your own good.

Anyway, my Death Guard kind of pay homage to the fact that I'm an absolute Silent Hill fanatic. It's not really all that obvious, but once I tell someone they can immediately see the resemblance.

wait wait wait wait... huh..?

Actually... my eldar friend, when he was building his army, decided that he wasn't going to take any crap from anyone who say eldar are gay.

His solution was genius.

He modeled greenstuff tutus for every single one of his guys.

It... looked... awesome.

I never got to play with/against him before he stopped playing, but I heard that he never lost a game on account of his opponents ribcage combusting with laughter

So, if your Tyranids somehow found themselves across the table from a skinny bald Ordo Xenos Inquisitor with a red goatee, his hulking blonde bodyguard, a teal robot and two dopey guard conscripts, your Hive Tyrant would suddenly start jumping around and screaming in a high-pitched voice, huh?

Mine has black with silver highlights. Black because it's easy to paint, silver on the trim because it's about as opposite of black as possible, but coats better than white. I also use a lot of metallics. What, that all means, beats me, I just like the way it looks.

Yeah. I've seen Tau and Eldar players who think that they're smarter, or better tacticians, than people who play Orks or Imperial Guard.
This being in the heyday of JSJ and Holofields, and before the new ork codex.

Very strange.

The Emperor doesn't seem to do much for you but you sure are expected to be mutilated, suffer, and die to make him happy. And is he dead or what? If he's entombed that would mean he's dead as a doornail, right? So, how can he be happy about anything you do, or even give orders to anyone? Are you worshipping the dead now? Is that something you'd really want to do? Because it sounds freaking creepy to me.

...I really don't know what to say about people like that. 30+ and they're still saying crap like "lolz Eldar are so gay"? If I ever end up like that, kill me, please. Not that I'm not already a loser, but I don't want to be that guy...

Okay so I'm not really being serious, GW won't be around in another 10 years so I won't still be playing then anyway.

Yeah. I've seen Tau and Eldar players who think that they're smarter, or better tacticians, than people who play Orks or Imperial Guard.

Yeah, I don't get that myself. Nothing the Tau or Eldar can pull off can possibly compare to the brilliant strategy of...fielding 180 men/boyz on the table.

Seriously though, I don't think any army out there really requires any "tactical genius" to field, so I'd be scoffing at said Eldar/Tau players just the same (or IG/Orks if they happen to have heads just as large). This game relies so much on chance and throwing huge quantities of dice to win, and more often than not comes down to the list you brought and not what you do with it on the table, there's really no way you can claim to be any smarter or a better tactician than the next guy. Chess is your game if that's what you're after.

Anyway, I play primered Tau, so my army says I have no shame.

I collect based on the background of the army, more so than the paint scheme. That being said, I'm not one for a lot of blending, so I generally stick to armies that can be dry brushed, highlighted and washed. I guess my scheme says that I'm kinda lazy...

Orkeosaurus was talking about the old Ork codex, where the boys were 50% more expensive than they are now and nobs were a HQ retinue only. That did take some wiles to play successfully.

I think my army choice shows that I like playing the baddies, or at best the more grim and fatalistic goodies.

MIne says I only care if I get the joke. I painted my Tau scab red and codex grey with bleached bone because "Hey look, space commies." My daemons are pink, purple and blue. Mostly because I love pink and think its kind of childish that people think its somehow "girly." What, so an entire spectrum of colour is off limits because a few people are uncomfortable with their masculinity? Plus being able to refer to your Daemon prince as "Big Pink" puts a smile on my face every time.

Mine says I take my Star Wars Fanboi-ism more seriously than my 40k fanboi-ism - my SM army are painted up as members of the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), specifically the 501st legion.

I've been a costumer (note: NOT A COSPLAYER) and star wars fan for longer than 40k has been in print.

I've had a couple of people try to tell me that my army shows a lack of creativity - I'd say it shows more creativity, in that I have to fit my fluff into the grimdark 40k millieu, and make it look like it belongs (kinda like what the 40k writers did with Dune and Foundation, and all of the other classic SF they've homage-d).
