Hey guys, just about finishing up a raven guard army wonderin what people think of it. Havnt toted up the points yet but its in excess of 3000 anyway. Il try post some pics (just need to figure out how first )

It would have have probably been better to take the pics then posted on the modeling forum. Or maybe asked a modeling. We can't really tell you what we think about the fact that you have an army in and of itself.

I think it's great that you have an army.

I suggest you post pics in this, the modeling and painting section of Dakka Dakka.

In fact, I would say you should even post pics in this very thread!

Host the pictures somewhere than post a link or image.

You should upload your pics to the Dakka gallery and post them here from there! Then you get them rated and everything!

You can upload them straight to the thread/Dakka from your computer. When you post a reply(or a new Thread or edit), hit the attachments tab under the text box. A Filename dialog box with a "Browse" button will appear with a Description dialog box underneath it. Upload a picture then hit the "Add another file" button to post another picture. Repeat until complete(up to 30 pictures, wargames related pictures only).

Also, any pictures posted by you in any thread will also be posted to your section of the Dakka Gallery.

But looks interesting, proportions seem good, just clean up and add some details maybe?

All black predators may benefit from chapter-markings.

Ven-dread seems to be the best model here. Keep on posting other units too.

I'm scared of that dred.

I understand that it's Raven Guard, and the primary color of the army is black. None the less, I strongly encourage you to add some more color and or detail work to your stuff. Especially your tanks.

All in all. The stuff looks good. I like what I see so far. It just needs something more.

Dude you have to thin that paint down.

It looks like you're using decorator's emulsion.

get a (slightly) wet brush, dip in into the paint, splosh it about a bit on that handy little platform inside the lid and hey presto!

Great Drop Pod, would love to see some close ups of that.

The Tau would look great if the white was done right. Start with something close, say dheneb stone, and then do a couple coats (thin coats) of white over that.

It will make your Tau look 100x better.

Well done on actually taking the time to paint an army......not easy!

That said, I have to be honest with you, the painting quality is poor. As others have said, you really need to apply thinner layers. The problem with doing the miniatures in layers, is that it takes alot of time.....that said, there are some very good techniques that an army painter can use, like dry brushing, dipping or now the use of Citadel washes! every one of the above can be applied quickly and effectively to produce a great gaming level paint job.
