The ebay auction was likely cancelled by ebay because he's offering a leaked model early. It's probably illegal and breaks GW copyright or something.

lovely model and all, but i rather wait that bidding on it where i cant see other peoples bids, or a buy it now price would work, allthough, i think ill wait until its released.

My pleasure

Strangely enough...Me thinks if this was stolen then GW would do a little more then take down my post....Hmmmm

But there are people like you who do like to ruin all the fun, but I still get along

By the way, thanks for the all the comments...helps bump my post And I have plenty of good feedback/ratings in the other places this is posted so if bid someone will, and by next weekend someone should be showing up to their GW with an awefully nice Commander on thier hands

GWS doesn't run this site. This is a privately owned forum. So strike 1.

It's obviously stolen, why would ebay cancel your auction? Urged by Games Work Shop no doubt. Strike 2.

There is also no proof you own this figure, as you could have just copied the pictures from the ebay auction. Strike 3.

Here's hoping to legal action being taken against you.

Plus, it's out in a couple of months anyways, as part of the Collectors Range...so why pay anymore for it now, when it will be £10 absolute tops (probably closer to £8) when released?

Why does it have 'new line cinema' on the bag?

Jebus, there could be several reasons why this is up for grabs (promo, friend or relative, advance release, prize, staff perk) - 28 days hardly seems like reason enough for theft. Or is that the only way you would obtain something like this Defiler? Casting the first stone, glass houses etc.

The thing that mildly concerns me is that the op could have avoided all this speculation by just telling us all why he has the model so early. Anyway it is a cool mini but I think i'll just wait for 28 days, my painting backlog is already too epic for my own good

First of all, It's too bad I know how the miniature/tournament scene works.

If this item was any of the above listed ways of obtaining a miniature not yet released, it wouldn't have incurred action taken against the auction to begin with. If the company hands it off to an employee, they look the other way when it is sold if it's meant to be some form of "under the table payment" - ie : Here is a pre-release. Thank you for your exemplary work in the field of blah blah. Now put it on ebay.

Casting the first stone, glass houses etc.

Second of all, calling myself a thief because I disapprove of potentially harmful/illegal posts on a forum I enjoy using and reading? You can kiss my ass, personally. How's that for the first stone?

Brimstone, well played...as always. Can't blame a guy for a little shameless marketing

As stated, the model in particular will be available in March; the remaining Space Wolf releases (which have been debated at some length in the 'Rumor Roundup') still have some time (possibly months) before they are released. According to prevailing thought it will also be some months before a Space Wolf codex is released.

So a whif of but in no way a lie, as I never said the model won't be released for months.

As for some of the post, I don't have my model and camera in the office, but I think a few photos are in order.

its matters a fair bit stone, if ebay removed it then they had a reason to do so.
and by what has been said so far its stolen.

why would everyone want to pay more for a stolen model when they can wait a week and buy it at normal price, and legit.

just seems a little shady in general.
and FYI, i dont want the thing, i dont see how that is any use to my ork army.

Me thinks you wouldn’t be a very good pitcher…

GWS doesn’t run Ebay either, that may give you some insight as to why they took down post, as someone flagged the auction to Ebay, NOT GWS! Ball 1

As stated before, if it were stolen I am sure I would have been contacted by the police by now. Ball 2

I figured this out later so this may not be your fault, someones taken the pictures from my post and put them on the Rumor board without crediting me (Which is fine as I don’t really care). I do find it strange that people (not just on this board) think I have gotten the pictures off the internet…As far as I am aware there are no other pictures of model in bitz??? But if I am wrong, please let me know…Well onto the show:

(For all our London readers out there)

Ball 3 and 4….Take your base.

GWS has taken a page out of the Forgeworld book and has finally gotten some decent branded bags. I am pretty sure that most bitz from Mail Order now come in the snazzy “Citadel” bags. I believe that as LOTR items sometimes go in the bags, they have a New Line Cinema section as they own the license to LOTR

The only reason I didn’t state in the original post where it came from is that I never do. Actually I don’t recall anyone who has sold an unreleased item ever explain where they got it from, so I didn’t BUT if asked I gladly will as MagickalMemories has. I have received it in a trade from a reputable seller on another major 40K board, he’s gotten the miniature from someone in GW close to the project. What I’m not going to do is give names which I am sure someone will ask me to do.

Defiler wrote:

Are you sure about that

Defiler wrote: If this item was any of the above listed ways of obtaining a miniature not yet released, it wouldn't have incurred action taken against the auction to begin with.

Unless someone, who felt a bit of righteousness took it upon themselves to alert Ebay to what they felt was an illegal auction. For Ebay it is much easier to cancel an innocuous auction then to actually investigate the claim. Case in point, I found a Zagstrukk on Ebay on 16/12/08 and posted the pic on Warseer (http://warseer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3140170&postcount=389) the auction was never removed because no one had a problem with it.

Defiler wrote: You can kiss my ass, personally. How's that for the first stone?

Well to that, I can only say you’re the one whose decided to stoop to that level and it must speak volumes about your character.

Mad Doc Grotsnik wrote:Well, no, it was quite a blatant Porkypie, no doubt in an attempt to drive up the bids.

No to the first and Yes to the second. As stated earlier I never said the Captain was part of the Space Wolves release did I? And yep, if I can make a little cash off this sucker I sure I am going to try.

LunaHound wrote:

Sorry LunaHound, if I am not on DakkaDakka enough for your liking. If you ask MagickalMemories I respond to PM’s as a priority. Now that I am home, away from work am responding to all queries. It could just be a time difference thing…

I absolutely agree 100%, I don’t deal in either!

I think I’ve covered the stolen good thing to death…and as far as being mistruthful, if you read the auction and think that the Captain is going to be in months YOU’VE ASSUMED that the captain is a Space Wolves release, which if you check on DakkaDakka itself says its not. I don’t think that I should have to do everyone’s research for them. Also if people want to pay a premium for getting things early, why should I help them.

Funny that, you mention the Space Wolf releases being months away, even capitalised it for added emphasis, and then in the same sentence said this was a real advanced order.

Thusly, you have strongly insinutated that the model in question is part of the forthcoming Space Wolf range, and this is the only way to get for some months to come.

This is a lie, as the model is coming to the collectors range, as I said, in 28 days time. Ergo, not much of an advanced order, and absolutely nothing to do with the Space Wolf range.

And you wonder why people don't seem to trust you on this?

but theres 2 ways of getting hold of this.

I'm going to say this once:

Stonefox here has it.
stonefox wrote:So because it's early it must be stolen? I've had eBay pull down one of my auctions for a prerelease item before. eBay never said why except for some vague "you can't sell this" B.S. reason.

eBay(because companies, including GW, have pressured them before) does not take kindly to sale of items that are "prerelease". It has nothing to do with whether the item is stolen or legally owned(I happen to believe Perfect_Timing does legally own this), it has to do with eBay not wanting to themselves get in trouble for trafficking in objects that aren't released in case there is a situation where the item may be stolen or leaked by an employee/"friend of an employee". If brought to eBay's attention, they will pull the auction, no questions asked.

As for Bartertown pulling it down, I'm honestly surprised, but only because I myself purchased a pre-release Land Raider a month before release from Bartertown when the current Land Raider was first scheduled to come out(the seller had gotten it from a friend who'd won it from a GW store).

As Kilkrazy said, everyone needs to stop throwing insults around in this thread, including insinuating that this model is stolen.
