I got the nasty flue going round the local area about a month a go ... this squad was done as I was recovering from the exhaustion that came with this particular strain. The details are not as nice as they could be, but the ylook pretty decent to me and they look good on the table ... and after ten more of these gents and a squad of 20 regular boys I will have a fully painted 1500 army of 90 + models.

I just picked up the new storm boyz and it didn't seem right to start on them before painting this squad which has sat in primer state for about 3 years now. The bases are washers and are a little wider than legal... I havn't had anyone have a problem with them yet though. Comments and critique welcome .. I still have ten more of them to go. As a side note the theme of the army is the orquisition ... they captured a bunch of redemptionists and converted before making the end sooner than nigh for them. This the red and flames motif everywhere. Oh and I use ogre sized model for all nobs and bosses so that is why the nob is so huge, all my nobs are that big, and the warboss is even bigger!

The pics:

That crashed stormboy is brilliant, down to the facial expression.

The Pulsa Rocket nob is a nice piece of work too.

They have a 2nd edition feel (a complement). Great characterization through each model. Thanks for sharing.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Awesome....especially the one in the tree and the one on the rocket. Lol.

Maybe you could change the angle a bit on the first one though, he looks as though he is standing on an invisible platform somewhere above the ground.

Wow, comments galore! This army is all about conversion opportunities, as I think any ork army should be. This is my just for fun army, and even though it is a lot more competitive now I can't help but cycle through all my units occasionally so they see play time. THe sad thing is that under the old codex my 35 model army of 15 point orks their trucks and buggies was fully painted. With the new codex I had to scramble to start collecting other orks and converting and painting them.

To answer a few questions: The tree is from a woodland scenics pack .. buy the trees bend them and glue clumps of flock or attach lichen(the method I used). Simple and cheap. I could have forests of this stuff in just a couple of hours.

DaRealJDB LOL. I wondered how many people would recognize the pulsa and the 1st edition and fantasy bits. I love the older pieces of orky goodness and I have a bin of bits to mix and match with the new boys. Even old plasma guns and some gorka morka bits too. Oh and the power claw is made from parts from an eldar fire prism and the "claws" are sword scabbards from the very first plastic box of chaos warriors, you know, the one back in the 90's when the only other plastic figures came from heroquest or warhammer quest.

GH057, thanks for pointing that out. I could easily drill a hole at a different angle, that is one of the plastic jump packs so altering the angle a little wont change the center of gravity. Thanks for pointing it out.

Thanks again for all the comments! I'm not too shabby at playing the game, but I get the most enjoyment from making cool models.

Just thought I'd share some of my vehicles too. Most of them are just painted enough to be table top ready at the moment, though the buggies are finished. My first two trukks were built in the last edition before the new model came out. Since I made the trukks bigger i thought it was only appropriate that the buggies be about the same size. It is my opinion that every ork vehichle shoudld actually carry the correct number of models, so my trukks fit 12 orks, my battlewagon fits 20 etc.

I like the conversions, but I don't know what it is, maybe flash, or paint colors, but all the orks have a very shiny green paint on them. Maybe you could wash it to dull it down or something?

"I.. I know my time has come" Tethesis said with a gasp, a torrent of blood flowing from his lips.
"No! Hang on brother!!" Altharius could feel the warmth slip away from his dear sibling's hands

Tethesis's reached out his bloodied arm to Altharius's face.
"I..I have one final request"
Altharius leaned close to listen, tears welling in his once bright eyes.
"make sure th..they put my soulstone in a tank... it'll be... real fethin' cool"
"Yes, you're gonna be the most fethin' cool tank!!" burning hot tears streaked down Altharius's face, as he held his brother's soul in his grasp.

Mcfly: I clearcoat all of my models(Krylon crystal clear acrylic coating) as they tend to get lots of play and I'm not always gentle with them. It is sturdier than dullcoats and it brightens the colors(my favorite effect). It does leave them a little glossy and not everyone likes that. It is much more noticable in the pictures than in person. In person it is noticable but not that detracting as there are usually no bright lights shinning directly on the figure. I can live with the shinyness since it means less time fixing paintjobs. I maintain about 5 40 k armies at any given time, plus 3 main fantasy armies, and thats actually cutting down for me. It used tobe in the neighborhood of 6+ for each. So maintanence is more important to me personally that uber realistic flat finishes.

Thanks for the comments!

The red to black seems too harsh of a transition to me. I think it may look better with a lighter metallic tone that you could dirty up.

Some pics of the Kans I am building. I bought one blister kan and decided there were enough parts to make the basis of 3 kans from each blister. So I bought three, and will end up with nine!

Here are some WIP shots. THey still need cables and some rivets and plasticard work, but the basics are done. Also WIP shots of my two deff dreds. And yes the motor works with a AAA battery in the back slot.

Thanks for the comments! Yes it does spin. When I get tired of working on my chaos I ocasionally spend a few minutes on these guys. Hopefully I will get the last three converted and then spend a little while going back with rivets, plates, hoses, etc.
