In USA look for Hobby Town or similar shops. I buy plasticard from Hobby Town, they have a good selection.

Back on topic though, if all else fails, hit your local hardware or car parts store, and look for the "House for Sale" or "Car for Sale" signs. Cheap as can be, and usually 0.03" to 0.04" thick.

I get mine through a mate, but he gets it direct from Evergreen (manufacturer). My mate works in SFX modelmaking and goes through it by the truckload (I get the offcuts, generally around an A4 sheet size).
Model railway stores should stock it. Many better model /hobby stores should also stock it. Along with tubing, rod, I-beams and stuff.
